  1. the tree in the way isn't ideal if you're talking about your first picture posted. i've seen very small framed deer look that way that were 2.5 yrs old. i'm thinking it's 3.5 though based on it doesn't look long and slim. legs appear right size for it's body. chest looks to be getting deeper compared to the waist line. ears aren't bigger like you'd see on a younger deer. neck and chest hard to judge because its head is down. 3.5 yr olds out here are typical over 110" but the buck could be a later bloomer or just smaller racked deer. we've seen that before.
  2. problem with mine is i can't dial that much in with flat rings and bases, plus i don't have a good gun in the right caliber to reach out that far efficiently. most i know of have the scope mounted to a 20MOA base or rings with dials that can really be spun with some kind of zerostop or just a bump washer under the dial that works almost the same way. what you said makes sense. in my app i can change elevation, pressure, humidity, temp, etc. all independently. so i changed the elevation and left rest all the same and it still changed quite a bit so now i'm curious. ...and mostly want a rifle to shoot that far now. lol i think there's a couple spots i could get 1000 yards but not legally. i'd be shooting over a roadway that's out of sight down below. basically both cases i'd be shooting hill/mountain top to mountain top.
  3. wonder if anyone here shoots that far to chime in. i don't have a setup to reach out that far to play and find out. might not even have the skill idk.
  4. i typically don't put the brake on when starting either but in about every owner's manual i've seen it says to with it on a flat surface/ground, one hand on the handle cross bar, and the other on the pull cord. if it's running right you shouldn't need to give it gas to start. first starting just use choke and prime. i agree though this saw is probably not worth the effort at this point. i think he's going to be spending more than $50 this round for parts. Echo isn't a bad brand. like the others they have small budget saws and ones that are great. each model is different for dependability. ask a small engine shop what they sell and what comes back. they'll be able to tell you without hesitation. agreed labor isn't cheap and it's not the saw to bring in to get fixed. i think the OP knows that though.
  5. the range is good thing but i'd think that would be a difference of over a foot at 1,000 yds. i use a pay to play version of bulletflight app on my phone. didn't have a 6.5 grendel but picked the closest thing i had in the list setup. ....same for temp range that big. maybe user error on my part idk. i don't shoot that far.
  6. we took a big hit just over the river in Rensselaer county. we lost DA (Abelove) that was strongly against the SafeAct and would catch hell and harassment from Cuomo and his now resigned corrupt AG. big turn outs from suburbs and more city folk Democrats that voted for a woman who's never actually prosecuted anyone herself. She probably won't be so level headed and probably go for the throat to get brownie points from the governor. stupid. i've wanted an AR for a while now. hate the idea of buying one just to neuter it.
  7. 2,500 ft seems high. didn't know you guys were that high up out that way. even next to me at the foothills of the adirondacks is grafton mtn at 1800 ft in different spots and Berlin Mtn which is just over 2,800 ft.
  8. it's not a sonic closest to the delta checkin counter at the airport??
  9. as much of a suck hole as Albany is we've got Hoffman's car wash here. way better. It's owned by Tom Hoffman who's a hunter that completed the big game Super Slam with a bow. Plus this year I got my truck real bloodied up in the back. went to get it washed guy was day dreaming and did the whole outside and never touched the bed. went to the next one on the way to work thinking i'll try again. i explained situation to a cute girl who then said she'll mark it as a rewash free of charge. manager then walked over and asked about the hunt then hopped in the back himself with the pressure washer to make sure nothing got missed. you western NY guys can have your delta sonic.
  10. Didnt even notice. It is! I guess hes got a list of stuff to sort out. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. I think its better on tap than in can. Owners live right down the road from the farm on a farm of their own. Brewery on waloomsac river just down the road from my brothers house. They snowshoe trails along river from their house to the brewery. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. she's a girl, she'll recommend Blue Moon with an orange.... which isn't necessarily bad but don't do it.
  13. saws normally get pretty hot. just check what bearings you can get to for tracking and loseness. if they aren't totally sealed then repack them with grease using the palm of your hand. the heat may have made it all run from the looks of it unless that's all from the lube you used. check the brake (meaning the steel band for fit next time) plus i think you might want a new plastic housing cover and maybe a brake "handle". the plastic housing/cover to the saw is molded to keep the brake and clutch as clean as feasible. given it's spinning the chain with material on it. plus the plastic might be deformed causing you to lose clearances. don't rev with brake on and don't lube the brake assembly (clutch bell and high strength steel band. that might all cost you more than $50 though unless you shop the internet or something for parts or a parts saw.
  14. winter lager or cold snap is always a good choice for readily available seasonal beer.
  15. i can kill deer if i'm out there but can easily be a sucker and not tell others to piss off to let me hunt for myself. i really didn't hunt much this year. i guess it would be good to check the zero/sight in the ML when i have time and am already doing so for my rifle.
  16. some use summer oil that's veggie based and too thick for colder months. bar heats up and can't figure out why it's not getting much oil. even turning up to full flow. i was guilty of it too one time. don't know much about these box store Poulan "Pro"s though.
  17. i have a 16" orange Stihl bar cover on an 18" bar attached to a Husqvarna 346XP professional saw. i stir the pot constantly saying it's the fastest orange saw i'll ever own. i have one because a couple friends either own or owned shops that carry them is all. drives die hard Stihl guys nuts, especially when they only get a half look at the saw in the back of the truck and praise it for 20 minutes only to discover it's not a stihl.
  18. nicest trigger i own is on a couple stan archery releases. lol
  19. screw up the driveshaft to where you tore the motor apart?
  20. while i agree they do work totally fine. just not a saw you'd rebuild and bring back to life. at that point and cost you'd just buy another one. the older green poulans made in canada were very good saws though that lasted a life time.
  21. don't rev it with the brake. it should want to stall it out. start it cold half choke or no choke to idle smooth with brake on. then take brake off and then rev it up. that's what may have done it but i'm not convinced the brake fit right to begin with. it's a mechanical brake though not clutch. you hit the gas and it'll want to turn the chain and sprocket.
  22. looks like the new brake is too small. did you compare them prior to assembly. definitely melted your case cover and everything. the older Poulans built in Canada were good but the new ones are kind of a big box store saw. i don't think the bar did it. should be able to pinch and pull up the chain but still keep guide fins in the bar rails. that wouldn't have done it. i don't lube the flywheel and brake. depending on what you put on it might burn/heat up the brake. when installed there shouldn't be contact when the brake is pushed forward it contacts the flywheel. i always pull the cover and keep that wiped out between uses. it'll build up sawdust in there. so too clean isn't something that'd do it.
  23. filled my freezer but no antlers this year. least time to hunt i've ever had with moving into a much bigger house, work and other stuff going on. sits i had very productive though. still a bit in the dumps but at the same time feeling like it's just prior to opening day that's never gonna get here.
  24. i'm still dumbfounded with how clean and finished his work is.
