my old car the cig lighter worked even with the key off. most cars you leave key in accessory position to keep the car's cig lighter powered. then you come back and check it in a half hour or so. depending on how big the cab is or how much funk you've got going on. doors closed and windows up while it's running. -
draw in a safe direction with an arrow nocked. keep your eyes closed. anchor how it feels familiar and comfortable then open your eye. the peep should be there if not it may have slid up or down the string somehow. if the peep is there and just rotated then have a shop shift strands from one side of the peep to the other keep equal strands on both sides. otherwise string might need to be replaced. if a strand broke you might not see it. especially under center serving. if it's exposed and broken after you shoot you'll see it the fraying. it has to release from the wax that should be on your string.

My 2018 Barn Plot..

have had good luck with offset fencing even if the inside isn't electrified. it works visually for them to make them think they can't clear it when in reality they could easily. -
based on your photos i think he's 4.5 yrs old this year and won't get much bigger from here on out. hope you see him in another month or so. that's a nice buck.

What's the worst legal caliber that people use for hunting deer
dbHunterNY replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
if you're using a caliber that's legal but it makes you flinch then it's a bad caliber. get over it or get something different. -
What knife will you be using for hunting this year ?
dbHunterNY replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
i have quite a few. whatever i have with me that probably means it's sharp. -
sharks, spiders, and snakes all nastier down under. if you're headed to FL my parents turned into snow birds. feel free to say hi. they're on the gulf 200' from the ocean, if you don't count the channel that leads to their boat lift and back yard.

my dad hit a buck in the nostril with a factory loaded 150gr Rem Cor-lokt from a 30-06. it got lodged up in there and you could see and feel it behind the hide on its face.

you aren't in your vehicle when you use it. I agree it's bad to breathe in that state, just like a lot of things. you don't use it all the time either. just to deodorize the truck before the season and maybe part way through. -
we've always processed our own. i've only found one in a deer once so idk. i do hunt private land though most of the time so that's probably a factor.

Better turn into a snowbird then. Winter snow is coming. I'll take one for the team and report on conditions. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

i still use the original titaniums. they have the O-ring. after a while the oring will just get deformed. just rotate it or put a brand new one that comes with the heads on and you're good to go. at first i used double sided fletch tape barely coming around and back together. not needed though. they've worked fine without it for years now.

i don't remember but it was either a 3 blade muzzy or thunderhead we found in a bucks neck once. all healed over with no trace of it until we processed the deer.

we added 28 acres of hardwood ridge and thick swampy low land that bordered us to our farm. co-op as a whole might lose some properties this year that were in it for the wrong reasons but is expected to gain others. should stay right around 11,500 - 12,000 acres. already too big for the help running it so hopefully it doesn't get bigger.

i've hunted the park and multiple years a buck 150's or better got taken in the area after getting pushed out of there by the orange army.

i've learned every deer taken just take a ton of pictures. more than reasonable. you can't go back and retake them. -

what no selfies?! -
man he's going to get juiced up here pretty quick. hopefully he doesn't shift location too much. he should be sticking to what he did last season i'd think, it's how he knows to survive.

i'm thinking there's more options than that if you have a hangon stand. you're just seeing them. you have to put yourself close enough to seal the deal. that said i've hunted secondary trails farther away from main activity to figure things out and form a plan before i setup in tight.

cool pictures. i've got one of my great grandfather with a decent buck hanging from the tree out in the front yard. old pictures like this are always cool to see.

i've used some in 12ga. they work well with the old smooth bore fixed choke guns.

most people do crazy scent control and then still hop into an odor filled truck. i bought the "ozone go" that plugs into cig lighter. seems to work well. prior to the season i'll get my carpet shampooer and do my cloth seats in the truck. i otherwise haven't used it on clothes. I'll put hunting gear in the truck though while it's running. -
i missed this but caught your other post. the 2018 Whitetail Report gets a little more detailed.

yup also true, despite the areas are a bit bigger. also not mentioned some states on the list are one buck only. most all of them have a different mindset in general than hunters in NY. easy to hold out for something bigger if you know there's better odds it's there. out of state hunters are going there not to shoot any deer. many are also in the most fertile areas of the country. so they've got multiple things going for them in regards to making the list. it all helps.

Minnesota, Missouri, Kentucky, Texas, and Illinois. Some go by points, kentucky is spread which i'm fond of, and texas has combo point and spread which also works well.
