  1. It's worked and not worked. I don't think they mind it but activity fell off in that spot to move up into woods and hit the acorns. Plus we keep getting a south wind that doesn't work for the spot. Blows right into where they'd be coming from. I pulled the blind off the wagon. Might move the wagon somewhere else. 2. Feels like spring turkey season but not as cold at sunrise. Can't kill them from the couch during bow though. Over grown pasture at 2 o'clock, natural hardwood funnel to my left, thick brushy hole out front, and open hardwoods downwind at 4 oclock up the hill. This is always a mid morning activity spot. 7 bald heads so far. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  3. There's some truth to this. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  4. if i was closer I'd bring beer and we'd process it nice and quick. don't need much room if you bone it all out to put in the fridge. don't even have to hang it. just on a clean tarp to roll it on to as you pull off the hide. you can use hide between ground and meat but it sometimes gets a little debris stuck in the thin slippery membrane around the muscles. hard to rinse out and i like my deer as perfectly clean as possible.
  5. for years it was taboo to shoot a doe where the family farm is and others in the area. i've likely tossed more jawbones from doe that were ancient. since our group has gotten piles of doe even in the teens and up to 20 yrs old back from the lab. around 7.5 on they all start to look the same. teeth start partially disappearing with no height in the mid teens.
  6. you have to send teeth in for CA to back check your methods. that said once you're at 5.5 it's more theoretical to get to 8.5 yrs old. the replacement and wear method is tapped out. we always do both for anything odd looking, to back check ourselves, for any 4.5+ buck, or any doe with no infundibulum in sight on any tooth. so much of the hard enamel is gone that you'll have variations in wear. also if any abnormality years before like abscess or broken teeth will be hard to distinguish.
  7. at the office but just seeing this. matches the other pieces of the puzzle. he favored one side which isn't uncommon. 4th tooth back (M1) is halfway to 6.5 on the favored side but you can see the infundibulum that still sections the tooth from the top view on both sides. they aren't dished out yet and it being gone. clear as day the dentine width compared to the width of the enamel is more for all molars M1 to the last (M3). it looks 5.5 yrs old to me.
  8. definitely 4.5 and i'm leaning harder toward 5.5. fully developed rectangular frame front to back. i get the tight belly and straight back but the second picture comes off as older than 4.5 yrs old. boxy frame and camel like neck with a shoulder hump. it depends on food, but not all deer have access to load up on say ag to get that gut and sagging back at 5.5. in kentucky last year i had a similar buck that believed to be 5.5 yrs old by some pretty knowledgeable folks, that are specifically whitetail biologists. looks very similar.
  9. it's because he has somewhere to go during the day. find out where.
  10. i have a newer fridge and mine dry out a little if i don't cover the stuff. might be because it's set pretty low. i've got the small doe I shot still in there. been almost a couple weeks. I'll pull it up and get it packaged up. early this weekend.
  11. @518BowSlayernice setup. that stainless table is perfect for keeping clean and cleaning up fast. Chamber vac was a great choice. i have access to a bandsaw but we never use it. i always separate the muscle groups and clean them up. need a grinder now it looks like.
  12. Didn't get to hunt this morning. Daughter has bball try outs and I had to load a tractor trailer up with hay. Out this evening. deer 1 : me 0 so far. At a hay wagon blind out in the field. Several deer, no bucks out in the adjacent field. It wouldn't mean much but yea.... it's right where I parked the truck! Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  13. I shoot all kinds but typically shoot Rage. I've noticed night and day differences with blood trails if I take a sharp blade and make it shaving like a razor sharp. Just touched up some fixed headed from being in a quiver and readied some put of the package Rage heads and one original titanium I just out through a doe. One thing I will give to the ranch fairy is pointing out these jigs. They aren't idiot proof but let me work faster than free handing it. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  14. sorry to hear it joe. hopefully you get it together and setup so you don't have to worry. just lay off the wine putting it together or if it gets that bad, drink more! lol
  15. we kept ours but it was one of those that turned into her full size bed. second kid (son) got a lightly used crib. it was a smart choice. Someone make a baby so Biz can off load this thing to a good home. lol
  16. i might scout and hunt public land. other than that I don't have the time i used to so i rely a lot of cameras and what i see while hunting. i used to run no cameras and scout with binos and boots on the ground and would put in a lot of hours doing so.
  17. not going to stuff the freezer but she'll be delicious and the farmer wants the deer gone. Max helical on all my arrows for years now. They don't drop off enough trajectory wise at distance to cause concern. I even shot that same max helical and won in a 3D league/championship that was unmarked out to 80+ yards and they did fine. They spin hard and fly like they're guided missiles.
  18. It's late.... would've posted earlier but I had to hurry up and get her in the deer fridge. Yearling doe. I thought it was a fawn but nope. Just a runt. Rage heads still work fine. Big cut when they go in at an angle. That was the exit. Had to really make sure it wasn't a button buck. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  19. Despite it's toasty idc. I've got time as I worked from home today. Last time I was in this spot I passed three 2.5 yr olds and one 3.5 yr old buck, and took a mature doe in two sits. Lush green stuff behind me, creek and swamp bottom in front of me, and standing corn to my left. Perfect marginal wind for something cruising. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  20. Got buried at work and now trying to get some stand time in. Will fill out and send out tickets tonight. Sorry for the delay guys. Tapatalk also doesn't let me see messages on here. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  21. that's the crux... if you shoot this one you'll likely take yourself out of the game to shoot the other one. boarder line bucks to appease myself i'll set up to kill them and possibly something else bigger. when i pass the boarder line buck i'll video it well within my wheel house. then i at least get the satisfaction of knowing i could've gotten it done. hell many times i even come to full draw or put the crosshairs on it. if you're will power breaks then so be it. you have a tag for it and well you wanted it after all. lol
  22. Still selling until around new years or they're gone. Plenty left. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  23. 9 deer, 2 of them bucks so far Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
