  1. wolves seem to get pretty big and at times can dwarf a young deer. no wolf blood there i'd think. definitely weird and different though. if i had to guess i'd go with it being a coy dog. some domestic mutt and a yote at some point were fond of each other. lol odd it's territorial and the normal one doesn't seem to give a damn.
  2. who the hell prioritizes in that order?? lol you don't go to the beach without beer, the pool is a close second being you own one and have friends and surely there's some that are female, when your bored then go golfing, and baseball is only for when you get seats behind home plate just under the NESN sports box at the "new" stadium. even for the last two beer will make it better.
  3. i do a berries n cream pie that's no bake, easy, and goes good in the summer during berry season. No tomatoes required. been a while so i'd have to look and post details. it's heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, folded in cool whip, and then whatever folded in berries your picking (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.). i'm lazy so i go desert style gram crust but use any you like. let it set nice in the fridge. i don't drink coffee but i've been told the combo works on a leisurely summer afternoon. supports dairy farms but will cripple the lactose handicapped.
  4. All those perch I'm jealous. Same here for hay. We don't start knocking it down with the discbine until late May or early June if it's a dry enough stretch of days. Still selling out of barn too. Loaded a small animal trailer with 253 bales over the weekend. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. my thoughts... i think someone should just realize it can do it and not try it. even if you don't let go but half heartedly keep your hands on it you might just bump it anyway and send it. if that happens your season is over and both wrists might be in casts or braces. Synergy is a great hunting bow and a nice stable 3D bow that's not overly slow either. at full draw in a hunting situation they hold great to finally get that shot off without being too shaky, unlike some bows. just don't get lax on maintaining back tension, not so much to make a good shot but to keep a steady pin.
  6. i realize this thread was resurrected a bit...... being an engineer i'm pretty good at physics. imo it's not the HV. it is the pointed profile and lighter weight of the high velocity bullets that do them in to deflect or not carry enough foward moment.
  7. me too i never cleaned my clubs after the last round i played two falls ago.
  8. i usually take birds later in the AM. all the roosting locations seem to be on the neighbors. i've seen lots of hens but not many beards yet. they'll inevitably show up though now that we're approaching mid April.
  9. few years ago i looked for actual trucks. couldn't justify the money places around here were asking. ended up with a low mileage used Honda Ridgeline. it's been good for being an '07. it tows and hauls most of what i need. still good for a "car-truck". haha it being a bit older i looked into the new ones they have. when they told me the "negotiated price" i was like "yea thank you for your time. good luck selling these vehicles."
  10. I see a lot of antler talk for judging age. Antlers imo should be the very last thing you use to plant your feet on one side of the fence or another between two ages. I also didn't mean to turn this into the roast of stubby. lol tough crowd lately in these forums. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. I don't think this is the thread to get into an aging debate. Either one of us could very well be wrong. Some things you look for and others will get you burned. Research aging on the hoof, pull jawbones, and send some in for CA analysis. Get as many puzzle pieces for bucks you encounter that you can. That buck could have 14 points or 4 and my answer would still be the same. I also dont much attention to pot bellies. Both my 2.5 yr old and myself get them after a big meal. Not completely sure what nose comment meant but "roman nose" doesnt happen until after skeletal maturity and that doesnt happen until at least 4.5. Im just telling you what I think ages are. Take it or leave it. It's just my opinion. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. Haha... true story I actually shoot everything that way. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. I shoot ok but i'm no Byron Ferguson. I've watched a lot walk that would otherwise be a chip shot. Wasn't really a serious proposition though. lol
  14. @Culvercreek hunt club "Forged in Fire" on at 8pm Tuesday. History channel.
  15. vacation time a problem. Family priorities. Disney World should move there.
  16. I think it's 2.5 yrs old. even runts develop their just a different size. i think lack of natural, quality, browse stunts deer more than lack of temporary high quality food like ag. i think a deer is always playing the catch up game more in that situation. browse i think makes up most of their diet and in better soil regions it's carrying more nutrients.
  17. please let me know what WMU you are hunting free ranging whitetail in, that would have well fed 1.5 yr olds that big. I'm abandoning all my spots and hunting there. damn you guys are blessed.
  18. "No change!" .....otherwise, new voluntary buck protection program: shoot anything you want, no limit. just need to use a trad bow with fingers and no sights?
  19. unless you're Jim Shockey with an affliction for MLs i'd use the .308 bolt. i know a bunch of guys at the club next door that get them out of state (ME) every year. they all just use a plain old standard cal deer rifles. They say Magnums are over kill, if there is such a thing.
  20. that second breaker tripping seemed kind of weird. maybe two circuits got tied together some where? Cool things worked out well.
  21. that's a misconceived notion in my opinion. Antler restriction is a tool that is commonly only used at a state level has the intent to protect yearling bucks. yearling bucks are the largest age class of bucks in a wild deer herd with the smallest set of antlers. depending on the restriction some of the biggest antlered yearling bucks might still be taken. ARs aren't conducive to trophy management and growing the biggest set of antlers possible. it simply has a biproduct of large antlers because age is the biggest influencing factor to grow them. One buck rule/limit is something that banks on a hunter holding out for the largest set of antlers that'd satisfy them. a very small percentage of hunters take two bucks, regardless of how big or small they are. OBR still spreads out opportunity to take something like an older buck with lesser antlers. this puts less pressure on bucks with antlers that meet the restriction. this is little diluted as hunters have a natural tendency to high grade bucks in younger age classes. ARs from a herd health prespective doesn't really care though. it's one more buck to create competition for breeding by the biggest and strongest. Better age structure and presence of more mature bucks is more or less better for breeding ecology. Bucks don't have to have lots of points to be healthy in a healthy herd. ....i'm not meaning to get into if either restriction is necessarily better than another for any particular application. i'm just putting info out there to understand them.
  22. Where did that come from? I didn't type any of that. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. our restrictions are only slightly more complex. we've got soon to be hunters not even in their teens figuring them out just fine. point wise they're inline with what DEC would recommend for this area and what shows up in the legislation discussed. however, we added spread to the restriction similar to a handful of state wildlife agencies do now. the goal is we want to protect all yearlings (with exceptions for youth and new hunters) to see the true potential of what bucks could be at 2.5 yr old around here. as well as push as much into the 2.5+ year old classes as possible to keep opportunity for a buck many would be happy with high as possible. if people don't often see what they can shoot it won't be excepted. especially as big as we are. lot of people to please. due to hunter density, habitat, and whatever else as soon as a buck is fair game it's usually taken around here. seems we've got a hunter for every 30 acres come gun season and sometimes more. groups of deer are driven by rifle shots more than anything. lol no need to do drives. just sit and wait.
  24. no idea but you're acquiring a collection of recurves. you even own a compound any more? lol
