hunters should care about doe but it's harder to get the big picture when you're just one hunter. especially if you don't trust DEC data and don't ask them for it. it's the same as bucks though. you want an age structure as nature intended. as long as there's a 1/3 or more doe being harvested in the area that are 4.5+ years old you're good to go. logically if there's older deer to shoot that are getting taken the age structure is there. you can pay attention to sittings too if you can relatively age a doe. it's harder to quantify when you're just a hunter in the woods say on public land or a small tract that isn't in communications with neighbors. shooting a doe of the same age usually isn't any easier. antlers are a rarity though and people therefore are drawn to them. ...no worries, but in 30+ pages of the other antler restriction thread i'm surprised you never posed the question. a lot of bickering but some good info in there.

Drove a sled i shouldn't have

i liked this and agree, but ignore that the sled i posted is an 800 that won the American Snowmobiler Old Forge shootout the manufacturer's are represented at each year. -
so what do you intend on doing with them? i bet if you ask nicely your other half has a nice tote or container to store them in.

I just think it's hilarious because it's a die hard Matthews guy.... wearing Lost camo and toting a Mathews solo cam slim limb bow. Guess he needs all the help he can get. haha

Fusions are probably the least popular of the Polaris sleds. Yea all 120's are the same pretty much. just a different shell on the outside. they hold their value. i've been somewhat looking for my 2.5 yr old daughter. i had a kitty kat kid sled at 3 yr old that i raced at winter carnivals when they were popular things to go to. -

I've since fixed the problem if not having one though. They sure do make them faster and faster. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk -

i've just been on Polaris my whole life but i've rented and driven others. local shop not far from me has been around forever and is good to deal with. honestly they're all good now and each mfg makes sleds that are more than most people need. some new designs have their quirks, but all the brands have been at it for a while dependability expected is very high. I was raised on Indy's and never had any issues. They've changed a lot in recent years though. -
i can't why it wouldn't work. not as simple as a peep but not too complex that it should be reliable. i know of a handful of others using similar mounted hardware versus a peep.

tag out on a couple bearded turkeys with that and you'll do more than cry.... fall season within the blue line won't get here soon enough.

for the fact that i haven't gotten out my trad bow yet in months, i hate you for making me see this and planting the seed to start shooting it. i'm busy now and sometimes don't prioritize things well. lol nice shooting.

This 4 point not legal in the NY antler restricted zones.
dbHunterNY replied to Rattler's topic in Deer Hunting
bucks with higher number of points than most others within their age class are always a target, with or without any buck restriction. people have a natural tendency to "high grade". a combination - points to a side OR spread usually kills the "lesser bucks" or ones with "bad genes" if there is such a thing. bucks that otherwise don't fit the bill otherwise are so far and few between the chances of them being hit by a car, taken by youth or new hunters, taken at a border of an area without restrictions, or injured somehow and later a target for predators isn't going to do anything to effect genetics. even if you assume it's all him and not his momma it's still not even a drop in the bucket. as for wasted opportunity the prevalence just wouldn't be there. -
here soon i may work to remove my "hunting and target" status. it puts a damper or complicates things trying to take courses that flat out require concealed carry permit to improve your pistol skills. i've competed now for multiple years in NRA pistol competitions for a traveling team. just makes sense to make my life easier and i've got some experience. fortunately i don't have a judge that never approves unrestricted concealed carry.

16" inside spread is a lot.... typically see around 13.5" inside or 15" outside spread have the outside of antlers almost to the ear tips which is an easy way to judge. that's around here (east and southern adirondacks) not sure how it is around finger lakes and west. maybe bigger. that first little guy that WNYBuckHunter posted really doesn't seem at all to be that wide though. -

if they don't have a buck tag in their pocket no worries use a doe permit. if they have a buck tag i'd like to think they fill it with the little guy. no harm no foul. -

looks like bucks someone might be happy with in an of the 3 neighboring WMU's that don't have restrictions. if i was in one of them i'd hate to see that little guy get thumped but i'd probably be more preoccupied with shooting that last brute. imagine if second one didn't leave 8N and grew a bunch of trash the following year? hopefully neither one would get hit by a car after you got trail cam photos of them. that'd be a bummer. heck if that didn't happen and they stayed in 8N, they could make some youth hunter really happy. -
SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
dbHunterNY replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
The situation would also exist that he doesn't have a buck tag and only a doe tag left. It's a case that doesn't have anything to do with antler restrictions. It's about him needing to learn not to mistaking shoot a deer of the wrong sex that he may or may not have a tag for. "Good thing there's no antler restrictions" is no excuse. copied response to john..... i get it and not arguing that it doesn't happen. aside from wolcs mindset it's all speculation and jumping to bad conclusions based on assumption. antler size had nothing to do with the issue aside from apparently they were masked by the ears to appear to be a doe. for all we now he stewed about it in silence, praying the Jesus he won't go off on the kid. -

i assume you're taking the buck that you will, but still observing otherwise legal bucks while out hunting. when DEC looks at the entire area with ARs they see, when looking at numbers on paper, a small decrease in opportunity as to them it relates to buck harvest. from your point of view, do you feel you've perceived any significant decrease in opportunity to harvest a legal buck given one has to now meet the antler restrictions to be legal? -
SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
dbHunterNY replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
wolc posted a story. he said the kid seemed genuinely upset that it ended up being a buck and not a doe, antler size not being at all the key point. we have to take wolc's word for his observations just as others have done for you when you post your trail cam pictures in here to discuss antler observations. not sure as though it was mentioned that the kid was guilted, hecked, and/or whipped in a closet or whatever you're leading this into. heck why don't we assume he'd got a half dozen heads in the bushes nearby, he shot the night before, and that morning he clubbed a baby seal before breakfast. ....what's with you and wild tangents?? lol -

poaching legislation seems to have some legs too. already through the assembly and part way through the senate.
