Keep the sun at your back and also back up to cover that quarters toward the trail. You're not really visible until the deer passes you. Easier to draw as the deer is focused where it's going and not where it's been.
-
Yea it doesn't work well where I am because there are so many does compared to bucks. Light sparing is always common place but rarely so you see any all out battles.

well in your defense they can hear sounds with a frequency of 30,000+ hertz opposed to an average person peaking at 20,000 hertz. the sound has to be very loud though as that high a frequency won't travel very far at all in the deer woods. another thing is we usually wait until we hear a sound but a deer is always moving those big satellite ears to pick up sound. in general we do hear the same... as long as the person has a hearing aid if needed of course. lol

hunting bow: 29", .340 spine, arrow. 100gr head 29" draw length 67lbs 3D/back up hunting bow: 27-1/4", .400 spine, arrow 100gr head 29" draw length 61 pounds definitely use a good arrow chart like Easton has and figure in all the corrections.

You left out the second sentence. I thought I was pretty clear and concise. Lol don't believe me culver?

Deer hear no better than us. However, their ears can pivot and do so independently which makes them designed to pin point location of sound way better than we can. Don't call to a deer that's already heading your way. Otherwise only call to a deer until it hears you. If it hears you and moves on it may come back to heck you out later. If you continue making noise at it though they'll figure out you're not a deer and not come back.

Is Cuomo running unopposed?
dbHunterNY replied to Doc's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I've seen unlimited funded campaigns run like crap and cause a loss. I've also seen ridiculously funded campaigns win by a land slide. It doesn't matter how Rob Astorino's campaign is being run, because you don't really have a say to change that unless you volunteer. even then you have limited say. bottom line is there's no reason to give up though. they're running his campaign how they're going to run it. it doesn't matter though because you, family, friends, and acquaintances are all the ones who are voting and will decide if he wins or loses. just remember to vote and if someone ignorantly believes a TV ad against him light heartedly ask "do you always believe what you see on TV?" set them straight. another thing don't use niche words like Leftist, right wing, etc. that just alienates yourself and him. he needs votes from all parties and will get them as he did in Westchester. -
holy heck if I could only like this post at least 10 times over.

where do you shoot? maybe someone who knows what they're doing can meet up with you to shoot and give some pointers. I'm not close to NYC or not sure where else you shoot. anyone down that way?

they're just at Dick's Sporting Goods. Goldtip produces them under contract with Dick's Sporting Goods. They're Goldtip's loosest tolerance 5575 shaft, factory fletched with 4" vanetec vanes. like you see in the original poster's pic. They had or are having their hunting sale so in stores they might still be $50 per dozen but they're normally $60 per dozen.
-
$50 per dozen right now.

Inside of 50 yards I don't aim at the same spot. Even with nock collars. Those are some great value arrows. I get those foru brother and cousin often. Not always the straightest and consistent but they work.
-
Yea mine isn't fancier like a specialty super peep. I think it's a bone collector apex. Main housing with three inserts.
-
Fred Eichler doesn't use hot pink fletches because they're pretty.
-
I think technology is ridiculously better but you have to spend theory to get it. Most are changes that a normal shooter wouldn't notice. It all leads to greater forgiveness at higher speed. For example a high end bow that shoots 320 fps IBO is now built for feel and smoothness. That would be an unforgiving speed bow 10 years ago.

Yup 100% beef. Call me crazy but it's good. I started with almost 50 lbs of it. Not sure how much is left now. I've got more ground venison too. It's very lean I don't mix anything with it though. Venison fat is nasty too unlike beef fat so you won't find much if any in my stuff. I've got a recipe that uses egg some other stuff and a good full bodied red wine. They don't seem to end up dry at all.

we're having a pre-season landowner meeting to hand out rules and speak to the landowners of the co-op one last time before our first deer season is under way. wish us luck it's going to be a bit crazy and busy as we've got 11,081+ acres involved with close to 80 landowners. please check out and like our facebook page, especially for those of you associated with co-ops and/or the QDMA throughout NY. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hoosick-Area-QDM-Co-op/1488451904735375 we've been posting some interesting trail cam photos and links to videos. Thanks, Dan

my 3D arrows have black vanes so people can't see my arrow. my hunting arrows have 1 white and 2 chartreuse so I can nock it quick and see it well during and after the shot when it's on the ground.

if you had a specific question then maybe you could be helped on a forum but it's best to go to a shop with it and them what your problem is.
-
I've got an adjustable aperture peep but I don't change them in the field. what if you drop it? lol
-
the Americas Best strings on my PSE Pro Series bows snap the peep right back into place even if you try to twist it. The PSE main line series bows I have had some string rotation and settling but only after a dozen shots. the peep won't be facing you at rest but when you draw back it'll rotate around consistently to the same spot I've found. good strings do help. even with cheaper strings of today I've had them work with a meta-peep style (string split in half).
-
for hunting bows I have a 2011 and two 2013 bows; compound, back up compound, and a recurve.
-
...I'd call them up to be sure.
-
not sure about the Parkers. I know they have a range between 10 and 20 lbs. Not sure what your model is. between 2 and 3 lbs sounds probably right.

You want to get the bucks attention but don't really want him to know where you are.
