  1. 30 lbs of vension sweet Italian sausage. Some with cheese and some without. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  2. Last night had some beers with friends at their house. They had a fire too. Sloop Juice Bombs were fillers. Other Half - Go With The Flow. Had a couple from@turkeyfeathers... Mortalis Corymbus triple IPA the was smooth and dangerously drinkable. Mortalis ichabod golden stout that seemed like it had hints of cocoa and Carmel. Definitely didn't expect it from the Golden color. One friend broke out a 2018 Goose Island Bourbon County Vanilla Stout....that smell seriously took me mentally back to my grandparent's dairy farm feeding out haylage with molasses. It was delicious too though. (That beer in the pic, nebrmind mind the Surly brewing glass) Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  3. yea and i'll probably be using a bow in a bow only zone.
  4. i know the daylight helps but it's hard to tell just how good a mount is until you get it next to others. not just a raggedy old mount at that point. you've brought the thing practically back to life.
  5. cool buck and awesome mount.
  6. looking into it. either way i'll post the answer when i get a response.
  7. Sounds like it was inevitably a fatal hit. With his path and what I've seen deer do, I feel like along the west end of thick area 3 would be a good spot to look. 1 and 2 he may have been hit hard enough he didn't feel comfortable getting into something that thick that'd take a lot of energy to get out of. They head toward wide open space or fields but then often have second thoughts skirting edges. To give themselves lots of detour options. Just a gut feeling thought is hes along that edge if he's dead, but you really never truly know. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  8. Actually its all part of the backstrap. Neck to ass you have chuck, ribeye, strip, and then sirloin in that order. Like almost any venison cuts its very well trimmed and venison doesn't really have marbling. So no fat. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  9. Jay this one is a gem. Nice piney ipa with juicy orange body that finishes with a hint of lime. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  10. Processed up some more here at home. Did send out 20lbs of ground not in the picture to an Italian deli to get turned into sausage. Its great doing your own despite its a lot of work. Tri-tip, brisket, top round, tenderloins, NY strip, ribeye, chuck.... you name it you can do it how you want it. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  11. Venison bacon burger and air fried taters. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  12. Its hump day and finally done with work, remotely here at home! Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  13. Compared to the foothills of the dacks out here regions 8 and 9 have stupid amounts of deer per sq mile (more bucks). Soil quality and antler wise you've got us beat too. No excuses though this is a friendly competition. Lol Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  14. I haven't done us much justice i passed a dozen "rack" bucks. Biggest were an 8 and 7 pt. I did pass what was an 11 pt but had broke half its rack off. Season isn't over yet. Still plan on making it out next couple weekends. I have doe limit but no point in using those. Need two buck and a doe limit. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  15. Good lead but not really walking away with it when comparing size of each team. I added them up quick; team 1 - 36 pts Team weak - 122 pts Team 4 - 156 pts Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  16. Last night was pretty basic fresh cut and seasoned sweet potato fries and venison backstraps. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  17. i'm shamed to admit when the bitching back and forth started I scrolled through much faster. lol face value it looks to be mostly good stuff. I'm also ashamed i haven't read through it all yet but should've by now. I assume I will and make sure others in my deer inner circles do too. comments will be written up and sent in prior to the deadline. I will say selling of wild venison seems very taboo. lowest population of whitetail's history was due to market and trade hunting. must be a context thing.
  18. @turkeyfeathers special tonight. While trimming up a third deer. Mortalis Milk of the Gods Milkshake IPA - blackberry currant and blackberry pie. You can taste the blackberries and get some buttery pie crust flavor on there too. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  19. Last night our group hosted a deer processing seminar with Q&A. We covered skinning a deer with and without mounting in mind. We covered wet and dry aging tips and tricks. Deboning the front shoulders, hind quarters, and the carcass were also broken down step by step. Various cuts of meat and suggested ways to cook each were also discussed. The seminar was made available to other groups in the state as well. It was recorded so those I the program could go back for reference or check it out if they couldn't make it work with their schedules. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  20. A lot has happened since last update. A few Field to Fork mentee alumni from last year have taken deer this season. Hany I believe his first buck with his compound. Jimmy took his first deer ever with a crossbow. Sandra took a doe in early muzzleloader season and her first buck during rifle season. Also technically not part of the program as he's a youth junior hunter, but Matt took a spike horn for his first deer at age 15. Pics below. Still many mentees yet to get deer this season. 21. At a family members property. I dont hunt the property. No deer yet but did see a hunter. On a freezer filling mission to put a doe in the ground. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  22. Legal shooting light is gone now. Two more groups for 9 more deer. 13 deer total and no bucks. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  23. Made it out clean. There were actually 4 doe. Thank God for the wet leaves and duff! Gotta hurry along and cover some ground now. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  24. Had a couple doe work through a nearby hardwood saddle between a couple ridges. Nothing trailing them and they were moving slow and browsing. Moves on and now have a few doe bedded down the ridge below me. Pretty quiet afyer about an hour, so I'm thinking they've already went a couple rounds with local bucks. Might back out and go find another group. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  25. Thanksgiving dinner (lunch) earlier with dessert. Desert was peanut butter and chocolate truffle pie and cranberry crunch cheesecake. Then left over turkey made into turkey salad sandwiches made@Bionic chicken rub on fresh slices Italian rolls from a local Italian bakery and deli. Covid cases popping up in my daughters school so we did a solo day without extended family. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
