  1. it works perfectly. i have no problems or complaints. i do wish they made this sweet mini version in more options than max helical though. for hunting with broadheads and close shots 40 yards or less it's what every archer should have. that max helical at longer range though causes too much drag and loss of speed (less energy).
  2. you don't want to spend the money but a Tight Spot is awesome. otherwise I've got Alpine Sof-loc quivers on my bows. They work good and aren't light but aren't overly heavy either. They're around $50. removable foam partial insert and two gripping points for shooting mechanicals if need be. rubber attachment so it's silent and kills vibration. solid mounting too unlike some mechanical mounting systems.
  3. the new Easton DaTorch arrows are awesome for an accurate hunting arrow with enough weight and smaller diameter to get great penetration. I'm not really a fan of the HIT inserts and glad they're HP inserts. Also the nock collar will give you added ballast to put a heavier tip/head up front and still maintain a good 12% FOC. Also the collars protect the rear of your shaft during practice and when you send an arrow into cover. Goldtip's regular line (Prohunter, Hunter XT, Expedition Hunter) are workhorse hunting arrows. Shot them before Easton and I would have no worries if i had to shoot them again. they're ridiculously tough and consistent. No experience with Carbon Express and Victory hasn't warmed me over enough. They're hunting weight shafts are alright for durability but haven't shot enough of them to see if they hold their spine and consistency with the abuse.
  4. Easton has really good shaft selection charts for target and hunting arrows. It has notes on it that take into account anything and everything. Despite shooting Easton arrows, they are what I use and would continue to use.
  5. man you don't waste any time at all... boom, cook, mount.... done. lol
  6. tough putting the sneak on a bird in the open like that. nice!
  7. looks like he's the boss and wants to spur the vehicle. did ya beep at him and make him shock gobble? lol
  8. Good to hear you're happy with the Ruger 270 Doc. Congrats on getting one that shoots. I'm a little late but 270 is a right choice. Other recommendation i'd make is a 30-06 but use light recoil loads. they're basically a 30-30 and good out to 200 yards. then if you go hunt anything bigger you can load it with regular 30-06 rounds. both are easy to get, even now. Bolt action was a good choice too.
  9. midway got in some 223 and was sold out in an hour and a half
  10. individuals opposed to teams seems like a lot of work for you
  11. last spring tom i took was within 5 steps. i was on the ground and not in a blind. got to be wearing something good to make that happen. wasn't wearing 3D camo either.
  12. yes it's tough to believe info when it's only coming from such sources on the net. i'm still open minded to it and hopefully the truth gets more exposure sooner than later. I don't know Tresmond personally or enough about the firm to prove any wrong. so based on that and what he's fighting for, he's of good character until proven otherwise. in my mind. The Paypal account or not.
  13. no doubt they will especially with things the way they are now. i think they'd sell as many as they can make. around here it's a little difficult to find a 17hmr rifle. ammo is around but scarce. they're due to hit stores this summer i believe around june maybe if i remember right.
  14. i like the revised o-ring design but like the titanium razor tip most... the regular razor not so much. not really a fan of the xtreme. i mean it's fine for turkey or something smaller like pronghorn, but you really don't need that big of a cutting surface over penetration.
  15. slight increase in hunters and a big decrease in turkey numbers. the decrease may be due to change of winter food sources though.
  16. i use either Federal Heavyweight or Hevi-13. I don't get into the super expensive Nitro shells or TSS shot.
  17. i'm in Rensselaer county.... all paperwork went in by last week in Feb I think. I've been told it's around an 8 month wait for processing.
  18. already replied to this but ..... i agree with above. constriction and ported or not depends on what ammo you're shooting too. I will say Carlson's, Puregold, and IndianCreek make decent ones that are still affordable. Then you've got other chokes like Rhino that are a little more costly. Indiancreek's porting is an awesome design. Puregold chokes have a wicked long tube/parallel section for even lethal patterns. then carlson's have a variety to tailor to different loads.
  19. PureGold makes a good choke too. they make one called the tempest turkey which is specifically designed for the Federal shells.
  20. i've shot a Benelli Supernova 12ga with a 26" barrel, Carlson's non-ported dead coyote choke, and 3" 1-5/8oz #5 Federal Heavyweight. There's about 206 pellets in there and I was getting 100+ in an 8" circle at 40 yards. That's like 50% which is pretty good. That said I think HW #6 still has enough penetration and would give you more pellet count. Even HW #7 would work to 40 yards probably. i think the choke is around .690" opposed to your .660's for many other turkey chokes.
  21. not seeing the numbers some of you are but they're there. this past week i've seen them break up into smaller groups though. toms are in full strut and things are under way.
