i don't reload but seems like you can burn a whole lot less powder in a smaller case for the same performance. compact gun too with same velocities in a much shorter barrel. 6.5 creedmoor is on fire right now and this would blow it away. with less powder but higher pressure not sure if there's a trade off for less throat erosion over time for some that reload and shoot a lot? seems like cases weren't mass produced to make it relevant as there wasn't a need or gun for them. Sig now has a reason to put it out there. they're already vested to do so. idk Savage didn't pick the caliber but they apparently see moving forward with it regardless if the military contract is awarded to them.

don't know if it's an epoxy. might be more brazed connection. doesn't seem to be welded.

good to hear it could be salvaged. lots more memories will happen out of it i'm sure.

Input needed on broadheads
dbHunterNY replied to Swamp_bucks's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
i used the goldtip weight system. that seems to be trial and error somewhere that has them though when you cross brands like that. lancaster archery is good. can always ask them over the phone if you don't have somewhere to test fit. -
Kittery Trading Post Sale 25% OFF
dbHunterNY replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Deals, Coupons and Specials
extended family has had a camp up that way. been going to kittery TP since i could walk. usually don't buy much but half the stuff i want upstairs would put me in jail back here in NY with our liberal gun laws. -
What Was Your Biggest Disappointment This Season?
dbHunterNY replied to squirrelwhisperer's topic in Bow Hunting
i didn't get a buck but that's not it. this year we had quantity for bucks but nothing really big. still 2 of the biggest bucks setting hooves on the farm got poached by local trespassers that won't see any consequences for what they did. whether not enough evidence to make things stick or landowner pissed but not wanting to burn bridges with another neighbor. one instance a couple guys saw the buck from road in cover. stopped by the house to asked to go after it on our land. given history with them were nicely told no. turns out one of them went and shot it anyway or shot it before asking. the one got dumped off from the road to go recover it. lied to folks in town about where he shot it. our neighbor was asked to help get it on our land and told us. same guys were trying to tell people not to be on board with the QDM co-op thing the rest of us our doing. fine poaching deer on others property grown on the co-op though. second was a buck that was right next to the house but fate took it across the road to a property owned by an older gentleman that can't keep the best eye on it. guy was in there without permission and dumb luck put a that big buck in front of him. neither is the end of the world, as surviving bucks will be older and bigger this coming season. just sucks to see old school respectful neighbors get pissed on. especially when they offer to talk things out in private rather than resort to law enforcement and public disclosure. -
i have a 742 woodsmaster in 30-06 but that seems nicer looking for sure. hope it's a keeper and serves you well.

https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/277-sig-fury-demystified/ Higher performance ammo with guns built to match the demand. Crazy how the Sig Cross rifle is that light with the beefed up receiver and action. Military buy-in will be a huge effect though. Otherwise I have to think there won't be enough produced to make it cheap enough.

definitely tough heads. many heads won't fail before the arrow gets stopped though. if the head is stuck in a deer's leg bone it's not like you're going to recover it to reused it. great design though with air foil to get you real good penetration. hardness of 52 should be real easy to sharpen.

should i seek this one out? i really wish the guy would bring back drawn and quartered.

2019 Field to fork Program
dbHunterNY replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Greater Rochester Southern Tier QDMA
can't wait for ours. great way to round out this seasons program. -
probably. hate nuissance tags here in NY and many ECO's do too. they just don't work as effectively as they should.

All done for the year..how did your camp make out?
dbHunterNY replied to G-Man's topic in Deer Hunting
had a good year if you include neighboring properties. within a mile of our farm (say 4 sq miles). bucks were bigger and doe still in numbers to justify taking some despite numbers are down a bit. within that golden triangle of 6 or so property owners 15 doe and 13 bucks were taken. bucks were 2.5+ yr olds and meeting our minimum of 15" spread and 3 pts on each side. few were close and one over 200 lbs dressed. DEC's published data for this WMU is 3 doe per sq mile and buck take objective that i don't think has ever been reported to be met in this WMU is 4.5 bucks per sq mile. -

-
without history you really can't. DEC has some data and/or you might have some idea that approximate beam length and mass measurements are typical for your area with a given age class. antlers vary way too much though to be totally reliable though.

they sell for little to nothing unless very high scoring or rare and definitely well done. seems like the best way is to donate to local conservation group you trust that relates to that game to be used at local events or banquet displays. you can ask or yourself have a plate added to the mount to indicate "Donated and in memory of..." your buddy. often you can assign fair monetary value and the conservation group can give you a receipt to write off on taxes. that assumes you don't take standard deduction and itemize though.

better the FIL knows it's coming. had my pitch on lock down. my wife (then gf) went with my family family on a carribean cruise. i managed to pick out and purchase a nice rock and setting while at port in another country. guys parted with girls to go shopping. met back up with girls within 45 minutes. got balls busted because "the guys took longer to shop". maxed credit card and left all the goods there so Diamonds International manager could get paperwork and stuff together to be picked up by a cruise rep. both whom i didn't know! paperwork for a loop hole to get through customs duty free. we get back on ship and cruise rep leaves a message on our room phone saying congrats and it was being kept in the ship's vault. i delete it in a hurry. i have my mom smuggle it with her jewelry through customs. fast foward and asking MIL goes as planned. can't get a hold of FIL living 3 hrs away. setup a whole scavenger hunt for rock and to pop the question christmas morning. christmas morning still nothing from FIL. finally get his house number and him on the line. says all good things and gives me his blessing then cuts the convo short. i go in to an oblivious soon to be fiance and propose without any hiccups as planned. as it turned out his work cell got switched and given to his co-worker. jackass of a co-worker never changed the voicemail greeting or told my FIL he had a message from me. i was standing out in my detached garage of my new house with little on freezing my ass off. wife inside thinking i'm getting something only important to me, wondering why i'm delaying christmas. nerves and cold had me a mess. i feel like i blacked out too and don't know if anything i said sounded intelligent. all while thinking i couldn't ask his first born daughter without his blessing and the whole plan was all going to fall apart! he was happy as hell though and said sorry multiple times for the cell mishap. also he apparently cut things short, because he could barely keep it together without crying. being stout trademan and probably over 6'-3" he felt he needed to keep it together i guess. lol not sure how many, but i likely lost years off my life though from going through it all.

nice! hope it goes well Larry! my inlaws have been split a long time so i asked both my mother inlaw and father in law back when it happened.

We actually had a guy vandalize an educational roadside sign we had. Set it back up and put a cam on it hidden like it was a light box. Got his mug holding up the can spraying away. NYSP went to him with the evidence. Had no choice but to plead guilty. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Doors for the skinning shed finally came in. Starting to look like something now. Outside work to do and get it buttoned up. Once things thaw a bit I can get power to it and epoxy floor for easier clean up. Couple electric winches from harbor freight should work well. Ceiling almost 10'-6". Getting LED commercial lighting through connections from work. Wife still thinks it's our garage. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I trim venison like crazy. Even the ground is super lean. Not by choice but I'll grab a pack every once in a great while that was 2 or 3 years old. Figure it out after its thawed and we need to make dinner. So try it out and its just fine. It does degrade just a tad. Similar to if you ever had venison that's never been frozen versus only frozen for months. Any bulk sausage or anything with fat gas to be ate within a yr if not sooner the better. It starts to go down hill for taste. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
