  1. that's a big bunch of BS in my mind. i fully believe permitting in NY with exceptions of maybe the four city limits should be the same throughout NYS. moving shouldn't change requirements or restrictions. only who holds your records. when people try to get one it's the same no matter the county. From restrictions to when a pistol needs to be purchased it's different county to county and that's wrong.
  2. That's a good ale. I like it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. Moving on. Forgot how sour and sweet this is. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  4. A lineup worthy of a prego wife, dad, and 5 yr old. Lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. Almost bought that tonight! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. I thought about buying another stands platform that's a little bigger. Then using the top section of the open shot. Still size vs weight wasnt worth the trade off to me. Still more room then moogs cheap ladder platforms. Lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. is that excluding repair from tick damage?
  8. my archery deer got taken with my 39" A-A 3D bow this year. shorter but i wouldn't use a harness if i didn't use a rope style tree strap with a prusik knot to give me some length and freedom. i've used my first 60" recurve on rare occasion with that setup just fine. shorter is better if you fall and it has to stop you but longer than ideal is better than nothing at all. we've got a few cheap 15' ladders. they seem like the ground is right there versus 20+' high hangon stands. it's more than just "right there" though. lol
  9. sometimes the blade ends get past the hide torn from the tip before they can be pushed backwards to open up. reason why i prefer slip cam design of Rage heads as the entrance hole is almost always the 2+" the exit hole is.
  10. i know i used to do it when i first started using hangon stands. now after being used to the security of a lineman's belt i've tried it before. i can only imagine i looked like someone with a death grip on the tree and the fire department would have to be called to get me down. same would probably go for being in a stand without a harness. i couldn't go back to the old habits.
  11. idk how you can hang a stand set without a lineman's belt unless you're a monkey or have a death wish.
  12. nothing unless you're an individual i know that sat on it to climb without a harness and ended up falling off the back with his stand high enough out of reach. another had an older stand with knobs hold it into place. they don't do much good unless you tighten them though. i just don't want the weight or contact with the bottom portions of my bow is all.
  13. a butchered trigger pull by the individual will be hidden with a lighter pull specs wise. assuming crispness, creep, and all that are still fine someone who has control to shoot a heavy trigger will be a better marksman. give them a lighter trigger after they've dealt with the heavier one decent enough. i learned and am still learning this with NRA bullseye pistol competition. i agree 3.5 lb shouldn't matter as much. safety is all the same. booger hook shouldn't be on the trigger or in the guard unless you're intentionally firing a shot.
  14. i have a heavy savage 12 BTSS varminter with a 1:9 twist. 60gr Vmax loaded Black Hills ammo shoots way under MOA. if i'm having a good day with no wind i can clover leaf groups at 200 yards.
  15. awesome job on the both Moog. same to Treeguy for the assist. hard to believe you didn't shoot a 100lb fox and 150lb wolf unless i saw the pictures for myself in this very thread. you should take that setup down south for hogs. more targets. those thermal videos make it look like tons of fun.
  16. history whether it be trail cam photos, sheds, or sightings each season is a piece of the puzzle and helps. compare that with tooth wear method and CA results. in the end they should all indicate an age that's pretty close or could be in agreement.
  17. Right now out and about picking up dinner so neither of us has to cook. Have to settle until I get home. Switchback ale. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. Could be. All 5.5 yr old deer dont turn into mega giants out of a magazine. That's no small deer either. Dont forget to post results in here when you get them back. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. always exciting having some kind of age structure. definitely have a pile of photos of nice deer. a lot of our good ones seem to die every year. it's cool when you get a buck that survives past 3.5 yrs old based on his patterns even if he dies from neighbors.
  20. decided to check in. i think many of us hate when people leave trash in the woods. at least biz saw something.
  21. some public property that isn't state owned and controlled might be different. have to read up on their rules before you hunt there. for the sake of not getting your stand and gear stolen, as well as tipping people off to your hunting spot, i don't leave anything ever.
  22. no doubt but at the very least it'll prevent suspension trauma.
  23. quartering and definitely at the top edge of the lungs it seems like. hard to tell unskinned but seems low enough to be into the chest cavity. must have been timed perfectly where the lungs were deflating which isn't exactly something you can plan for. i always aim for the bottom third and it still usually ends up slightly higher due to me and the deer's reaction. obviously that wasn't escpen's point of aim. things happen. maybe holding lower has been saving me more than i've realized?
  24. i always understood winter wheat or rye and cereal wheat or rye where one in the same. opposed to say forage rye grass which is totally different. we seeded down a pasture with that and deer didn't seem to care for it. winter/cereal wheat or rye both get hammered at our farm though. haven't figured out if they prefer one over another.
  25. i have the relief strap on me but that's a good idea too. i feel like i would be able to get to the life line or climbing sticks though. probably carry that on you as you wouldn't know what height you'd be at based on how much of the stitching popped on your tether?
