in my TC prohunter i swabbed the barrel after every shot. 1 wet patch and couple dry patches. it shot sub-MOA groups with 3-50gr 777 pellets and a 250 gr hornady SST sabot. all that powder charge is real dirty though. needed the wet patch to get rid of the crud ring. i've tried lighter loads to try and cut down on the dirtiness but don't get quite the same groups. picked up BH209 to see if that changes things. also i feel like 777 is crazy corrosive. due what you're supposed to though and it does work well, i agree.

i'm switching to BH209 good to know. me being an engineer my mind was made up that i'd back check it by weighing.

i don't scramble too much. bought long surgical forceps on the net that are slim enough to get in, grab it, and pull it out. pressure washer flushs out the rest.
-
nope. simmer it in bulk 40 volume peroxide water solution for like 10 minutes. the oxiclean is only to degrease it. 1 part water, 3 parts peroxide.

@rachunter stratford isn't real close to me but doable if if you're looking for enough bags to be worth the trip. each bag goes for $10 and plants about a 1/4 acre. we'll get another shipment once warmer weather gets here again. it'll be posted in the QDMA forums on here when we do get them. -
it's been doing that a lot lately. I'll have to crop photo and repost to fix it. ...Nevermind. It's been too long and will now be forever broken.

just really young taste buds. lol

my experience as well.

now that i think about buck kills were often late morning around 9-10am. none were real early in the season, but that makes sense with our hay farm being a factory for doe family groups.

ain't that some tough love.

those are true. caught the tail end of the woodchuck vid. the chipmunk was just more disgusting than the deer. -
still have yet to give it a fair chance. get closer and closer every year. arrow saw and point weights is a big step in the right direction.
-
dude has nine lives if you watch his inventions backfire. he got pegged with a ball bearing ricochet once that didn't seem at all enjoyable.
-
i don't keep track of that. didn't keep track of a lot when i started bowhunting. i can only recall most bucks were mornings and most doe were evenings.
-
that's too bad. deep into the season now though. hopefully he recovers fully.

TC shockwaves with the yellow sabbot fit quite a bit tighter than Hornady SST low drag sabots. depending on what you're using but when i used 777 powder pellets there's a pretty hard crud ring to break up. shouldn't be enough to snap the end off. i use a polymer jag end so it doesn't damage the bore or power rod on my TC. i lap my rings to get enough contact. i've had mounts that just didn't seem to hold zero enough without doing so. despite it's a different kind of recoil they do still kick fairly hard when loaded to the max.
-
i use oxyclean in the boil too. wisk works well or anything mild that will cut the grease.
-
can't speak for him but if i wasn't married it wouldn't matter. i'd still be doing it no in the house. smelly process for sure.

Shoveled out the grill at work that was buried in 2 feet of snow by the back door. Totally worth it. Venison bacon burgers for lunch. Took a break from them for a little while but we're going strong again. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

congrats on taking a fully mature buck!

@NonTypical at this point you're past the usefulness of the tooth "replacement and wear" method. it's likely 6.5+ yrs old. the 1st molar (4th tooth back from the front) is like as you said "dished" meaning the tooth is worn down so much the infundibulum isn't now continous that separates the sections of that tooth. if you want to know a more exact age you can pull the center two incisors and send them out to Deerage.com or Matson lab for cementum annuli analysis wear they take a cross section of an undamaged tooth root, dye it, and then under a microscope count the cementum deposit rings. it's similar to how you'd age a cut tree.

he lost his eye early november as a 3.5 yr old? wonder if that's the reason for the antler stub.
