i'll keep that in mind but don't hold it for me alone. i'm sinking money into a garage right now. lol reason we haven't gone to a 3D shoot. trying to get it together before winter.
-
all caught up and waiting for season 3. it's a good show. not to hijack but tonight is new season of mayans (Sons of Anarchy spin off). That should hold me over until then.
-
otherwise the best thing you can do is shut up and don't smell like anything. if doe are getting that much pressure they aren't too curious without being wary. i do think Gman's post wouldn't hurt. Maybe even use a drag rag. if you can't come from another side. problem with using drag rags is you should be entering downwind and if a deer follows it, that now puts them downwind of you.
-
it could work but chances are they'll be running in and wired enough they'll duck an arrow.
-
best thing you could do is pay a neighbor to park at their place and simply hike in from the opposite side everybody else is, sign in and go park early if that's logistically possible with what they require of you. find a ridge or trail that funnels the driven deer past you. early season the chase isn't on so the doe will be holed up until another hunter pushes them somewhere else. chances are the first time that morning they're pushed will head them to a safe spot behind someone's back deck or pool. have to stick them before they get there.

awesome.... still taking a back seat. i'll have to give away my components if i don't get the press and stuff to reload relatively soon. lol no use just sitting there. in the dehumidified safe. looks good Grampy!

i should've done a fences. with everything out there i didn't think they'd get hit as hard as they did. looks promising.

a few prior to the weekend. i'm hoping we picked up more when i get an update. i was working a setup to plug QDM in general that we had at a local fair. hope we can get this first one under our belt and buzz of it helps recruiting for the next season. -
well that's a way for larry to shamelessly plug his foot photos. best of luck selling them larry... i mean for your friend. i'm sure you were posting and asking for a friend. anyway, tell me razor you use. my wife wants to know. lol

doing anything different with your meat?
dbHunterNY replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Processing
just the usual. haven't changed much in many years of cutting my own. definitely cooking up some new recipes. goal is to empty the freezer but i can never seem to do it. this might be the first year in a long time i teach someone how to process. hopefully a new hunter. also if enough new hunters take deer i'm giving one of them a free processing at a local deer processor. -

liver is for the birds and any other scavengers. -
Good to hear it. Correct things one at a time and focus on executing a good shot versus worrying about super tight groups and driving tacks. The groups will naturally happen as you correct things. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Saratoga Farmer's Market - August 28th, Sept 25th, and Sept 28th. If you know of anyone or see them trolling the sporting goods section with a look of befuddlement let them know. tell them i'll pay for them to take up hunting. seriously we're paying. hoping for better luck and less camo hats raiding the venison dishes this weekend. it's saratoga so we're hopeful for a good mix of people. -
there's not much public land around me that hold deer. i travel to other WMU's if i do hunt public land for better opportunity. your "packed to the brim" and "packed" out here might mean completely different things. my point is this state gives you some options when it comes to finding a place to hunt. having hunted throughout ny it's crazy how different the deer hunting is. more hunters piss and moan about the grass being greener on the other side when they should be spending the time to either make their grass greener or find another place that's greener so to speak.

Working on the garage earlier today had a local ipa from right down the road. Now I'm in for the night cruising on stouts. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

seems like a great effort and fun day on the water. well done.

waiting on an arrow saw in the mail. changing weight of head and insert weights just isn't working out as well without cutting them. once i have a saw i might have to cut to tune for those heads you both are using.
-
it could be any of a bunch of heads depending on what bow i take with me, what spins true, matches weight, and is sharp that day. multiple ones from Rage, Magnus, G5, NAP, and Muzzy.
-
haven't been to the track this year. not really big into either though.

When you get rained out you slow down, crack a beer, and break out the head lamps. Office until 5pm. Time for second shift. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

good turn out in warrensburg but a lot of folks already hunting. hopefully saratoga pulls in some new to hunting and open minded folks. -
i have a model 12 in 223 with a laminate thumbhole stock it's very similar to this and the most accurate gun i own out of multiple that are sub-MOA guns.

i've done pickles, tomato sauce, and beans. definitely likely i'll be doing more but you really need to setup to do a lot or it's just a PITA. grandparents on both sides canned to survive (mom one of 6 and dad one of 8). they've done a ton to where they'd live off it between growing seasons. we'll see once i get a new garden established at the house i'm in now.
