So at my property the whole width of it prolly about an acre then back 250-300 is pines. It was a state planted forest back in the day. A good chunk has fallen into a nice open area was thinking of clearing it for a plot. Will any plant take being surrounded by pine trees?

I'm heading to a farm in Clarence tomorrow my buddy volunteers there and I know there are a few birds on it because one almost gave me a heart attack during a rabbit hunt when he jump up in front of me and was maybe 5 feet away
-
Check to see the camping schedule there
-
I left the my one spot at 9 am after being there since 5 got breakfast and drove to a spot I've rabbit hunted just to get beat there by a guy going fishing in a tiny pond. I drove by countless fields not seeing anything in any of them

I'd be thinking about sleeping in, go to Tim Horton's for coffee then head to Wegman's for a turkey breast!

I'm hunting a new property tomorrow never been there is my buddy's uncles. I guess it's hardwoods with a big corn field in the middle of it. This is my first year taking turkey hunting seriously I normally hunt my property in the southern tier which is a mix of pines and hard woods. If we hunt the field should we get there before sun up or can we sneak in later in the morning around 8 or so?
-
Yeah just started hunting them this year with little/ no success but I'm learning
-
Where did you find this?
-
Yea we set it out in early march just didn't get out to take it down its my buddies cam on his family friends farm
-
They sure do have a nack for finding corn piles! lol Just kidding!
You could try smearing some bacon grease around your cam. That should pull in some yotes.
We saw some foxes on the cam

I recently read that the DEC is considering extending the season until the end of May. I don't think I would want to screw up a good turkey hunt by shooting a coyote.
I agreed. But I'd also like to be able to shoot a coyote oh a crappy turkey hunt or if they get into my decoys
-
The way I look at it is I don't know anyone who buys a hunting license for coyotes they get it for deer or for turkey. I think they should at least extended the season till may 31st
-
Does anyone know why nys doesn't allow coyote hunting all year round? I've talked to people and most say the best time for coyote hunting is spring time when fawns are hitting the ground. Also wouldn't it help towards an increase in turkey population?

Squaw island is also a good spot late I usually big spinners Mepps #5 And big husky jerks and rapAlas 7-10" long. I usually have luck down there between 11pm-4am.
Are they letting people on to squaw?

-
You can go to the foot of ferry at night and run a bottom rig for them

How would shotguns be illegal? I caught that on the radio but then I had to go to work.

How big of a clearing? It's not huge it's probably 50 ft by 200 roughly. And that is kind of what I'm asking not sure what would work
