  1. It is more about going where it is best for what you are after. Also you have a right to hunt in all states so use it. If you are worried about the cost go every other year. Soon you will see that it really isn't that expensive and your hunting knowledge and experience will blossom. I do recommend that the first time at least you have a guide. You will be hunting new ground possibly a new animal and between you and the game you are hunting you are the newbe, a little help will more than double your chances for success. 2. That is always the issue. The state has good bucks if you hunt the areas where the good bucks are. Sometimes it is only in high fence in many areas, and what the definition of "good" is. I found that it is good that since you are over 21 and can drive to try some different states since even though gun laws are backwards, we can hunt other states with good gun laws. The truth is we have the right to our guns and our hunting in any state that we want to. If we want a free ranging elk hunt we can go to Colorado and get a license over the counter and hunt, public land, semi-guided private land or guided private land. The same with Mule Deer in Wyoming, don't miss the opportunity because what you want isn't in your state. I hunt 7 different states every year. I find good and bad in each state but go to the states that has what you want. If you want the big whitetails start putting in for Iowa or get a over the counter rifle license in Missouri for big bucks. Your right don't stop at the NY state line, they just expand. I hunt NY heavy each year but in addition I set myself up to hunt at least 1 other state per year. The hunting experience and knowledge more than doubles and you skills toward finding game grows exponentially! Don't get old saying :I Should da" when I was younger. The truth is you will never younger than you are and probably never any better physical condition. Two or 4 hunters in a vehicle can easily cover a lot of miles without breaking the bank nor taking long to get there. When I go out of state I usually get a guided or semi-guided hunt so that all of the pre-season scouting has been done for me and I know I am in a good hunting area. From NY I recommend Ohio to Colorado depending on what is in your bucket list. Whitetail, Mule Deer, Elk, Bear, Moose and so on. The Midwest is the best area for large deer but you want to be on good property. Wyoming for Mule Deer and Colorado for elk. As the norm the farther north you stay the bigger the animals, and farther south the smaller the animals. There are exceptions, but this is what nature says. If you need to build your knowledge of hunting other states go to http://www.DiscountedHunts.net they have 850 hunts in 36 states and Canada. You can't get more of a knowledge than that and with 40 game animals you will find where the hunting is the best. If you need help just EMali me. [email protected]
  3. I have found a web site that has discounted hunts listed for 36 states and Canada. Great for NY and local states and great opportunities for hunts out west for elk and everything else. www.DiscountedHunts.net I am in for a rut Alabama January deer hunt which is in the delta where deer from Minisota were planted there after local Alabama hunters wiped out the origional small southern deer durring the depression. These deeer are huge, grain fed and a January rut hunt in a warm climate like Alabama is like a hawiian vacation with temperature above 30 but below 70. Also a semi-guided Colorado Elk hunt at a price I can't believe it is so good. Even a Wyoming guided on Private land(25000 acres for only $1495!
