Oh great, now Elmer PM's me to tell me that saliva samples are sufficient for DNA testing after I close my office door and logged on to a porn site. Damn near had someone walk in on me!
-
Close. It's Tanzania.
-
Oh my goodness!! Of course only DNA testing will prove things for sure. We can send Elmer our specimen samples so that he can take it down to a lab to have it tested.

I've been told that I have a cousin named Horatio who was a goofball and then one day went off to upstate NY and was never heard from again. Could it possibly be Doe????
-
Don't mean to make light of a bad situation, but they say the shooter was a women's handbag designer who was laid off last year and came back to shoot his supervisor. Couldn't this girlieman just hit his old supervisor over the head with a handbag or something instead of shooting him and others?? OK, No more jokes on this thread.
-
I do hear you too, Culver. I just think way too many people think that everything would work out in their favor in a bad situation like that. Most never find out and have unwarranted fears, but with virtually NO training required for people to own or carry guns in this nation, I just don't see good outcomes in all cases. If people had some good training then I would have a bit more confidence.

This just proves that all hell would break loose even more if the average joe on the street started firing away in a situation like that. If trained cops can't get the job done properly, I honestly have very little faith in just any old joe pulling out the heat and dropping the killer with one shot between the eyes. Those things may happen in our dreams of being superheroes, but rarely if ever in real life. I've been watching the Ken Burns PBS series on WWII and it has some absolutely amazing footage of soldiers just before they were sent in to invade France. The terror on those boys faces was unbelievable. Some were clinging to their rifles and rosaries while in the amphibious vehicle that brought them ashore. If you think it is easy being cool in a mortal situation, I suggest you watch some of that footage. Absolutely gut wrenching!

Bloomy just said that a few of the people shot were accidently shot by cops. Just great. Even cops don't know who to shoot, so you guys think that society will trust you and me to carry a gun and shoot the right person?

Obama's way of thinking . . .
steve863 replied to Deerthug's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeah, bringing up religion here was a bit funny. I did hear this morning that Romney or his wife said that the reason they aren't showing more of their tax returns is because they don't want people to know how much they gave to the mormon church. No doubt they have given millions upon millions since they are rich and the mormon church has a tithe system. I don't care whether they were republican, democrat or whomever, but if any other candidate gave as much to any one organization as Romney has given to the mormon church they wouldn't have a chance in the world in getting elected. Just imagine if it was proven that Obama gave $350 to any black church or if Bush gave a considerable amount to any fundamentalist christian church? The media from the left and right would have had a field day over such an issue. I do think Romney has been given an easy ride over this. I work with several Mormon's and the church most definitely has a stronghold on it's members. How this would effect Romney as president I will let others decide. -
I am not sure if a QDMA branch was involved in the Catskills, but several so called "sportsman's" clubs who follow QDM were. In fact I have absolutely NO doubt that they were somehow in some politicians and/or DEC decision makers pocket to get the AR's made mandatory. If it were put up to an actual vote of the hunters in the area, I have no doubt that AR's would never have been put in effect. Here is a QDMA branch across the Hudson who IS pushing for antler restrictions, though they have not yet succeeded in getting them implemented there. http://www.hvqdma.com/

Obama's way of thinking . . .
steve863 replied to Deerthug's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I am not enamored with either candidate and will be holding my nose once again this November in the voting booth. I can assure anyone here that we will be screwed one way or another no matter which one gets elected. I will say however, that whether you agree with Obama's politics or not, he at least sticks to his ideology and is hardly the flip flopper that Romney is. From what I see in Romney, he will tell one group of people one thing and then go down the street and tell another group the complete opposite. In other words he would probably sell his mother to get a vote. Like I said, agree with them or not, I do have more respect for someone who can at least stick to a principal or ideology without the constant turnabouts. -

I am NO Obama lover, but what federal taxes are they taking from you that are any more than when Bush was in office?? So much misinformation and lies being spewed by all sides these days that it's getting sickening. I honestly think that is the idea here. Baffle everyone with all sorts of BS so that people don't know what is true or not, so then politicians can then avoid actually making any real decisions on anything. And the fewer decisions they make the more likely they are to get elected again and again since no one can hold them to it. God bless America, what a country we live in!! -
Only 86.8% chance??? Wow Doe, I think we are slipping. Our average used to be around 98% as confirmed by Phade's analysis a while back. Trust us Growalot, we mean NO malice with our jokes. Most of us absolutely love the many, many stories you tell us, thus we love to bring some of them back life!!
-
Believe me Biz, I've got more important things to do than bust your balls on this. I just find it humorous how you have been bumping this thread for over two months now and how surprised you seem that you aren't getting any bidders here. Maybe no forum members are interested in your house or ANY house at the moment? This is a hunting site after all. If you are selling guns, bows, or hunting property, you may have a chance here, but other than that I doubt you will find many buyers on this site for that type of property.
-
I guess he didn't realize I was messing with him? LOL I could really go to town with this thread, but I will give him a break. Was going to offer him $10,000 for the house AND rifle together, but he'd probably think I'm serious. LOL My real offer is $3,500.

I don't know if she does any talking in there. She's all business when it comes to hunting. Maybe some snoring if that counts, since I think she once told us that she occasionally goes into her stand the night before and sleeps in there until the next morning. Dang, she must make some really comfy treestands! More comfy than some one room apartments in Manhattan. LOL
-
Thanks for the reminder, Doe. Those no doubt can scare off 30 or 40 deer any given day!
-
Phade, I think you need to give Growalot a statistical analysis of exactly how many deer she will see this year from all of her 224 tree stands and 43 food plots and maybe she will start believing some of things you are saying. LOL Of course you have to take into account the trespassers that rampage her land and might be scaring some of the deer off of it. LOL
-
Yeah, it is sometimes hard to believe, but Phade is 100% correct in what he is saying. Take exit polls for instance. How many people do they question out of all the people who vote? Mighty few, yet the predictions they make from these exit polls are hardly ever wrong, especially these days. They have got it down to a very precise science.
-
If you throw in the two Weatherby rifles you tried to sell in another thread, I might be interested.
-
You got that right. Fuss around too long waiting for a better shot and most likely the deer will be gone. In the TV shows the hunters could practically take a half hour nap and the deer will still be in the same spot. Then again when you stop and think about it, why wouldn't the deer stick around since the feeders are probably whizzing the corn out every few minutes. LOL I don't care who is OK with the term "harvest", I know I am not. Big difference in plucking corn or a tomato in comparison to killing a deer. If "harvest" is acceptable for killing a deer, why isn't "harvest" used when cattle, pigs, chickens get slaughtered?? Harvest is simply a feel good term used to take the dirty word "kill" out of hunting to protect the sensitive ears of todays society who has lost it's understanding of reality. For this reason I hate the term.
-
When I first saw the title of the thread, I was figuring you were talking about a website for guys like Geno, Nyantler, Damore, and the other Italian fellas here. LOL

If you have no place in telling anyone else what they should shoot (like none of us do), why is it frustrating then? If it was an easy shot, and you didn't want someone else shooting it, then you should have shot it yourself. You can't have it both ways. If you let them walk, then the odds are good that someone else might kill it. That's just the way it goes.
