My goodness! Who accused YOU of anything?? Read the original post of this thread. They were making reference as to why the state hasn't gone to QDM and saying that peoples "old" mentality can't be changed. Can't that be interpreted as some QDM supporters wanting everyone to follow it? That is my point. If you want it keep it, just don't push it down everyone elses throat.

    Drinking

For many people having a glass at lunch probably wouldn't be a problem. The bigger problem is that most people who are drunk, don't know that they are nor would they ever admit it. That's when the accidents happen. If all drunk people had the sense NOT to get behind the wheel of a car, you wouldn't have a fraction of the drinking related accidents that we do. But the reality is that they DON'T have the sensibility to make the right decision, and I think the same would apply to hunting and drinking. We would be just looking for trouble.
  3. LOL, No, I reckon I don't have one. Maybe I should, though. My wallet has so many receipts, notes, and assorted other things in it that it can barely fold. I am positive a few things date back to the 80's in it!! I can also be stingy with the cash that is in it, so the bills definitely have been in there since the 80's. The presidents on those bills are all wearing sunglasses since they have never been pulled out to see the light of day! LOL
  4. Maybe if you explain to me what a "murse" is I can tell you if I own one or not. My wife however IS a nurse, but I don't think she'd like it if I claimed to "own" her. LOL Sorry if you think I was belittling your manhood about baby wipes. I just try to put some humor into things, that's all. You can surely carry what you wish. Carrying the stuff to clean your hands, knife, after gutting is surely acceptable, though using it on ones butt sounds kind of funny to me at least since plain old toilet paper or even leaves will do the trick well enough. I reckon I just view hunting as getting back to the basics and simplicity. If things like bidet's are one day to become common at hunting camps, who am I to question it. Live and let live.
  5. I would think that anyone who has spent a good amount of time outdoors has had to at one time or another. Probably best to do it before you leave in the morning, but it doesn't always work out that nicely. I have heard of people walking back to the house, cabin or whatever to relieve themselves, but that's really kind of silly when you can just drop your trousers anywhere you want in the woods. I think some people are worried about being seen by someone. The way I look at it is if someone wants to look at me doing such a thing, they are welcome to witness the horror. They are doing it to their own detriment.

If you think QDM should be practiced by everyone in the state, than that is selfish. You can practice QDM on your own land until the cows come home, but everyone should not be made to. That's the difference here. Those who want the freedom to shoot what they want according to current laws AND not be told to manage the land according to any specific guidelines pertaining to deer are not taking YOUR rights to practice QDM away unlike what your side is trying to do to them which IS telling them what and how they should do things. Why is this so hard to understand by some of you guys?

How is their testosterone rush any better or worse than of those who think it's more manly to kill only big bucks??? I see mighty little difference. We all shoot what makes us happy and gives us a rush and it should continue to stay that way. Implementing QDM promotes one philosophy at the expense of the others when they aren't allowed to shoot what they want just because QDM people think they shouldn't be. QDM thinkers call everyone else selfish, when the truth is that they are the most selfish lot of all. The DEC manages deer numbers, and will never manage them for the benefit of the QDM thinkers. No reason to. Deer get shot by hunters and that is all that will ever be important to them. You want QDM, you can certainly participate in it on YOUR land.
  8. LOL! And maybe we could get a helicopter to lower us in and out of our stands, so we don't get our boots dirty!! I'm getting the feeling that some of those "queer eye for the straight guy" people have infiltrated a few too many hunting camps. LOL
  9. Baby wipes?? I thought we were supposed to be tougher than shoe leather hunters, not some pampered prima donnas? What's next diaper rash ointment in our backpacks?? LOL http://www.drugstore.com/boudreauxs-butt-paste-diaper-rash-ointment-tube/qxp152557?catid=182979&aid=336064&aparam=butt%20paste&scinit1=butt%20paste&adpos=1t1&creative=8269317675
  10. Toilet paper, since some of you are afraid to get poison ivy on your butts.
  11. Well, we would stay off if we didn't know when you will be up there, but since you are so kind in letting us know thru your journal here, we just can't resist! LOL We'll be sure to post pictures again this year of anything we might shoot!
  12. You won't be seeing this one of course, Burt. Nice spread you have up there, Burt. Me and Doe had a great time up there last year when you weren't around.
  13. LOL. Geno, you've got to understand, though. Just about every new bow looks space aged to me since I'm still carrying my 1990 model! LOL It was still good enough to kill last year, so we'll see what happens this year.
  14. Well, you can believe everything your guide says if you want, but you know what?? If black bears were such vicious killers of man and beast, you would have far fewer of them around anywhere in North America than you currently do. Man would have put a hurting on them like they did to grizzlies, wolves and most animals who were in competition with them. Black bears have never been big killers of anything thus they have been left alone for the most part.
  15. Boy, that sure looks like a space aged bow! Something that George Jetson might use if he went hunting. LOL
  16. That's interesting for sure. He must be one unlucky guide. I thought I read something somewhere that only 60 or so people have been killed by black bears in North America in the last 100 + years, so maybe your guides friends must bathe in honey or leave their Dunkin donut crumbs around for them to get eaten so often! LOL

    weather

I have a 3+ hour drive to my hunting area. With high winds in the forecast, I am staying home this weekend. Typically in the wind they rarely move in my area, so I will save myself some effort getting up there for little to nothing. Plus I was up there last weekend for turkeys and the woods are still very thick for this time in October. Waiting an extra week will let things thin out a bit more also. The high winds should shake the leaves off pretty good.
  18. I am no pistol expert, but I think home defense and carrying in bear country are two different animals. How often will you be in grizzly country?? In black bear country you will never need one, thus I wouldn't worry too much about the rare times you will need one for grizzlies. Plus if you are in Canadian grizzly country you can't bring one with you anyway. I think your selection should be made for home defense only.
  19. Maybe when I was younger I would have a harder time falling to sleep, but these days I sleep like a baby. I get a better nights sleep up at my hunting house than I do at home. No need to get anxious over hunting. Whatever happens, happens.
  20. Maybe I will take your advice and stick to forums where people don't act like sensitive 9 year old school girls like you guys do. I can just hear you, "Mommy, Steve863 told me that my food plot could be considered bait" Waahaha
  21. "Would you shoot him?" Yes, I would aim right behind the shoulder like I do with any deer. I go hunting to hopefully kill a deer or two per season in the limited amount of time I have available for hunting. If I want to go to the woods to only LOOK at deer, I could do that at any time of the year and don't have to wait for hunting season. Others can wait for that monster buck forever if they want. I sure as hell ain't that choosey and I am happy with any deer that I put down.
  22. I'm sure it's been done where a hunter killed more than one deer with the same broadhead. New blades or not, I however don't think I'd trust a broadhead that has already penetrated a deer. I think I'd be more confident with a brand new one.
  23. I can assure you that I am not the only one in the hunting world who feels this way. So get ready to back up YOUR positions on the topic other than only calling ours ridiculous. LOL
  24. I am not knocking him, at least he confirmed that the deer did indeed expire. Obviously some others here can't begin to fathom where some of us are coming from when we say that we wouldn't consider it a recovery, which is quite sad actually. Some of us hunt for meat, some for horns. All is fine really, but I think the criteria for a clean recovery is meat fit for consumption for many people be they horn hunters or meat hunters.
  25. Don't know if that's the same buck that was discussed here last year. Some of us wouldn't exactly call it a recovery if it took us six days to find the deer. If the meat is not edible when you recover it, than it was not a recovery. More like a salvage operation of the antlers.
