  1. What am I confused about? If YOU think the right to carry is what is bringing down crime rates, are you at the same time saying that NICS checks have not been a factor for the better?? Simple question here. The problem here is that some of you guys can't see things from other peoples perspectives. You only swallow what the NRA tells you and can't see the legitimate concerns that every day people may have about the ease of which guns can be had in this country. Not like there has ever been a shortage of gun violence in this country, and NO one will convince me that the number of guns out there hasn't had a direct effect on this. Look, I own a cabinet full of guns. I enjoyed hunting and shooting with them over the years. I don't need the NRA or other fanatics telling me what to believe. I call it the way I see it, and I can tell you that a good many gun laws are their for a good reason. Many gun fanatics would love it if ALL gun laws were scrapped. I for one say BS to that and won't shy away from saying it just because this is a hunting forum where some people will accuse me of being an anti. They can suck on a lemon for all I care.
  2. Yeah, and instant background checks for firearms purchases became law in the early 90's also. This common sense law at least keeps some undesirables from purchasing firearms from licensed dealers. I will never accept the claim that allowing people to carry lowers crime, while a common sense law like this didn't have a positive effect also. More people don't carry in comparison to those that do. I highly doubt the ones who carry are the ones scaring criminals away from a life of crime. If anyone is scared it is the ones who are carrying.
  3. Case closed to where you pasted your article from. LOL http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=6832
  4. VJP, you are so full of it, it isn't even funny! I don't know why I waste my time with a lunatic like you. And you are the one in needs of meds, and not me. I never have taken medication in my life. Tough crap, if you don't like being called names. Don't call out my name when starting a thread and maybe you won't be called names. Why don't you tell us where you cut and pasted your first post from? Does the FBI make the distinction that the lower crime rate is due to more firearm ownership or does some gun advocate in an NRA publication? I would bet it's the latter. I never made the claim overall crime hasn't been going down in the nation. The crime in NYC has been going down for years, and guess what? It has RESTRICTIVE gun laws. The majority of guns used in crimes there come from places that have laxed gun laws. You carry a gun because you are afraid of your own shadow, boogey men, and have the need to make up for other thing you may lack. I don't have such issues and don't feel that I need to be armed. Enough said.
  5. A good many actually, many serve a very good purpose. All I know is that there are PLENTY of screwed up, mentally deranged people running around out there. Some unfortunately already own guns, while others can purchase guns with little to NO questions asked in many places around this country. Many of you think arming everyone at all times is a solution to all the worlds problems and that there would be ZERO crime. To be quite honest, I think people who think that are also mentally challenged. I have said it one hundred times before. It is way easier killing someone with a gun than it is any other way. Do you guys really think that the easy accessibility of guns in this nation has NO effect on our high murder rate compared to most any civilized nation? Of course you don't, since you guys post BS flawed statistics trying to say that arming everyone would bring crime rates down. I don't give a hoot if I am thought of as an anti-gunner or whatever. I am a realist, who happens to also be a gun owner, but can see the BS and smoke and mirrors that some like to spew about the gun issue. BS is surely spewed from the other side as well, but I will never be convinced that the pro-gun sides stats and rhetoric are any better than the anti's side. Everyone skews thing to make themselves look better, when the reality is something very different. That is all I will add to this thread, for I could care less discussing anything on a thread started by a looney tune like VJP. He tried to call me out, so I replied, otherwise I could give a damn what he thinks.
  6. So it's the lunatic calling my name?? Why don't you tell us where you cut and pasted this article from?? Why don't we go and let everyone carry a gun with NO questions asked, like you would surely like. We can check back in few years from now and see how it all went. LOL I for one don't need a gun strapped to my pants when I pull them down to sit on the can in my own bathroom like paranoid people like you need to. Good day.
  7. Yeah, living in a capitalistic society can be tough. Only low-balling you on the DVD because I saw Charlie Alsheimer selling his rut prediction video for $6.95. And his includes shipping and handling, too. P.S. you can pretend the smiley above is a moon, in honor of Charlie. LOL
  8. That's $6.95 for us fellow forum members, right?
  9. I would be cautious about this stat. Other states may have shown more growth, but that may not mean a heck of a lot. States that have been down in the dumps may show more growth, but economically are still well behind the states listed above. Even if they are in a boom for a while, it is unknown if they will continue to go that way. States like NY have historically been at the upper end of the spectrum and it is highly unlikely they will ever be in the bottom.
  10. Are you talking about illegal immigrants who move into NYS?? NYS is surely not the only state they move into, and this is a whole other topic in my opinion.
  11. I agree very much. I will leave the other states for my vacations. It would be great if we could hunt, fish, camp, hike, etc. and not have to worry about work, family, life and everything else. Things just don't work that way unless you are filthy rich. And in most cases becoming filthy rich will be even less likely in another state. I would bet that way MORE people moved into NYS and became better off than the other way around.
  12. That is an excellent point. I work with many people who are originally from other states. Each year they use most of their vacation time to go back and visit family they miss on holidays and at other times of the year. With a good many vacation days used for such purposes, they have very few left to pursue hobbies, travel, etc. So time for the pursuit of happiness (hunting) will be curtailed when one moves far away from family.
  13. True, I think the cost of living is cheaper in many places, but salaries can be considerably lower also, so I think people end up in the same boat in the long run. It would be interesting to know how many people end up with more spending money and savings once they move out of NYS. I think the people who are wasteful and don't know how to save a buck won't be any better off no matter where they decide to move. If one is cautious and not wasteful, they can do well in NYS also.
  14. New York isn't perfect, but I don't think any place else is either, and I think job opportunities in general are better here in most all fields. Hunting isn't too bad and the weather isn't either compared to many other states. Not likely that a tornado or flood will take your house away like it has been in many parts of the nation recently. NY is also quite a beautiful state scenery wise. It has a little bit of everything. Go to the midwest and the landscape is pretty much the same any which way you look. I guess if I had to pick a state, I would pick Montana or Wyoming, basically for it's stunning scenery and diverse wildlife. I surely would not like their long cold winters, however. I like to see moderate to warm temperatures more often than snow and ice. Southern states like Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, the Carolinas are pretty, but I would never live in the south. I have nothing against religion, but I just don't want to be harassed by the bible thumpers down there, be it in every day life, radio, TV, etc. Me and my wife did a trip to the Smokies a few years back, and I couldn't begin to tell you how many times we were asked if Jesus is our Lord and saviour, even on a freakin hiking trail! Just not my cup of tea.
  15. I do. I am not much of a bowhunter and use a 20 plus year old bow. Don't like spending too much money on bow equipment (which is way overpriced in my opinion), so I stick with the cheapest arrows I can get, which are aluminum.
  16. Just the perfect place to be, too! God won't have to reach down as far. He'll just pluck you out of that tree and take you home. Halelluiah, praise the Lord, he sure does work in mysterious ways!!
  17. Yeah, and the fart you would get by pulling his finger is worth about the same as his predictions!
  18. So it looks like he screwed up on the math again! This time the date is October 21st. I guess we could consider this a blessing from God since it gives us about 6 days of southern zone bowseason to fill our freezers for one last time. LOL We can send Rev. Camping some backstrap as a token of our appreciation.
  19. Good question, but the truth is that many hunters would have absolutely NO problem with it. They would even want Ted "the nuge" Nugent to do the voice over to it. LOL I don't agree. Well, there are plenty of "the nuge" fans out there, aren't there?? They don't mind his in-your-face type persona representing hunters, so why would you think there weren't hunters out there who liked showing off and glorifying the "kill" above everything else hunting is supposed to be and stand for?
  20. Good question, but the truth is that many hunters would have absolutely NO problem with it. They would even want Ted "the nuge" Nugent to do the voice over to it. LOL
  21. LOL! This is actually a funny thread, and I didn't bother to even look at it until now. I definitely agree with the going overboard on the theatrics and face paint. Maybe Mike Tyson would be good at stalking groundhogs with a crossbow with that tattoo he has on his face?? LOL And I'm sure he would eat it after he killed it. Well, at least take a bite out of its ear. LOL
  22. What a knucklehead! His money could have been better spent by sending us all on some nice hunting trips!
  23. Wooly, I think you just may have found the way this world WOULD come to an end. Tell all the men on planet earth to tell off their mother-in-laws and doomsday is sure to follow!! First your mother-in-law would be pissed at you, and soon after it would be your wife for pissing her mama off. Man oh man! Closest thing to hell on earth that one could imagine!! I think getting swept into the ocean by the next great tsunami would be preferable to such a scenario. LOL
  24. The funny part is that this quack (AKA preacher) apparently predicted the same thing back in the 90's. His excuse for it not happening back then was that he had made some mathematical errors in predicting the date. So why are people so stupid to believe him now?? Did he show all these people his diploma that he finally graduated from elementary school and now knows how to add and subtract correctly? LOL
  25. I heard one idiot being interviewed on the radio this morning. He said he hadn't paid his utility bills in the last couple of months. I guess his world will come to an end when he doesn't have electricity to turn on his TV or radio to listen to his favorite nut job preachers! LOL
