Don't forget Pataki served 3 terms. That is why I simply can't understand why the republicans seem to have completely thrown in the towel in this years election. When Pataki could beat his father I fail to believe that Andrew couldn't be ousted if some effort was put into it. I've said this several times before, the NYC and surrounded area vote could be surmounted if everyone upstate votes. The republicans could even capitalize on this current Cuomo gaff and maybe turn some votes to their side. Without some effort it won't happen. I see freaking Cuomo commercial every night, while I have yet to see one commercial for the Republican candidate. It just boggles my mind that absolutely NO effort is being put into this election.

Does your wife, girlfriend or daughter - hunt, shoot or fish
steve863 replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
My wife never showed any interest in it and I surely never pushed it on her. I am actually happy as a clam that she doesn't hunt. It's about the only thing I have left that doesn't involve her, so I prefer to keep it that way. It's an escape from the human condition for me. -
Unless one is very wealthy, I don't think there are too many women who'd be happy with the husband spending up to $25K of the family finances to shoot an elephant. I honestly don't know if I could blame them either. I'd surely be pissed if she wanted to spend that much on jewelry or some other girlie nonsense.

My guess would be that you simply couldn't make a lens of equal quality in the US for the same price. That's the same reason most things are imported these days. Lots of stuff made in China, Philippines and other Asian nations can be of very good quality. Yeah, they have their cheap stuff too, but the better items can match or surpass the quality that we'd get if it were made here and at a lot cheaper cost. This is where tariffs on imports from these countries probably won't solve anything. Yeah, it will keep some working in this country, but the folks buying these products will be paying considerably more, so in the end you'll have one segment of our society winning, while another will be losing.

Maybe the administrators of this site should turn the heart symbol of the "Like" button around to match your T-shirt! At least in this thread. LOL

From the excitement I am seeing here I think the NYS DEC would get more hunters to read the hunting rules and regulations if they came wrapped like that. Her right cheek would be the map of Adirondacks and her left cheek western NY.

Wife and I are so close to being empty nesters we can taste it

Some can't wait for their kids to move out, but I'm not one of them. My kids are still too young to be moving out, but it will be one SAD day for me when that day comes. -
Yes, as is pretty much the entire Catskill range.
-
The problem with Delaware county as in many areas of the Catskills is the antler restriction rule and that doe permits are almost impossible to get. For the gun only hunter during regular season there isn't much one can legally shoot at, so having all that public land isn't much help I'm afraid. I know for a fact that many hunters in the area have given up hunting altogether because of these reasons. If they can't legally shoot at most of the deer they are lucky enough to get to see, what's the point in hunting at all? Can't really blame any of them.

Giving money to the NRA will not solve the Cuomo problem that gun owners in this state have. The NRA has not been very effective here, just look at our gun laws compared to other states. Electing his sorry a$$ out of office this November would be much more preferable. He could be kicked out in less than 3 months if everyone (most especially the upstate folks) get to the booths to vote him out!

It ain't over until the fat lady sings. It is unlikely that the Yankees will make up 9.5 games this late in the season, but winning the east or to have a phenomenal season like the Red Sox have been having is far from a guaranteed ticket to the World Series. Lou Piniella's 2001 Seattle Mariners won 116 games during the season yet failed to make the WS by losing to the Yankees in the ALCS 4 games to 1.

I've always believed that one could kill a crapload MORE and BIGGER deer within a stones throw from roads and homes if one is lucky enough to have such spots in comparison to those who need to travel miles to get to their spot in the middle of nowhere.

I don't know. If it were a white guy I'd say he could never look like that being a vegan. But some black guys are just naturally built. Doesn't take too much for many of them to look like that. OK, now I will probably be considered a racist for saying something like this, but so be it.

Winchester Model 70 280 rem
steve863 replied to Savagehunter's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
The big question here is whether this Winchester has the pre-64 action or the push feed action? Can't tell from the photos. Considerable difference in price point between the two. -
So you are also throwing in the towel and giving up? You know that the state won't be breaking up anytime soon, so we'll probably all be dead before that happens. I don't buy your theory that there are 5.7 million democrats and that it's hopeless. In the last gubernatorial election only 3.6 million in total voted and Cuomo won by only 500,000 votes. You take those 2.7 confirmed republicans and get them ALL out to vote, and you will have a republican as governor. Don't matter how NYC and surrounding areas vote either. The turnout down there is generally low and could be surmounted if everyone upstate votes. Just giving up and giving Cuomo a third term without at least a good fight is as lame as it gets. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_gubernatorial_election,_2014

What I really want to know is WTF are the republicans doing this election to try to unseat Cuomo? I haven't seen one freaking ad on TV for the republican candidates while Cuomo has flooded the airwaves with commercials about himself. Looks like they have completely thrown in the towel and quit and went home. Unbelievable. I know it won't be easy to unseat that idiot, but come on, why are they just giving up?? Cuomo is the epitome of a tyrant, and the republicans are just handing him another 4 years.

I agree with Elmo. Doesn't look like more than a few bucks. $73 in singles would be way thicker. I think if I were to pose my wad of cash for a picture, I'd try to show at least a couple of Benjamin's up on top. Even if I had to borrow them from someone just for the picture. LOL

Must have been a lesbian bear since it chose a Subaru.

There you go. Maybe now you can call him a "fat lazy winner"! LOL
-
I bet he gets paid more per pound than you, Biz!
-
LOL!! If you convert his predictions to a batting average, he's hitting around .189. LOL
-
The real story behind this is that this guy went bear hunting and was eaten by the bear. The bear was later shot by game wardens. His widowed wife decided to make a mount that represented the hunt so she had the bear stuffed with him inside of it. LOL

Heck, many college courses are on-line these days. I can't imagine a hunters safety course is more difficult to grasp than many college level courses. My suggestion would be to have part of the course on-line and then maybe have 4 hours or less in a class setting. This way you can have these volunteer instructors give twice as many courses which would create more course availability to those who need to sign up for a class.
