My son missed a Jake in PA Saturday in the miserable weather, followed it up with a beautiful double bearded heavy Tom. Saw 11 beards in these high winds and it was not easy, we covered 5-6 miles locating a dozen birds, when we found them they wanted to play. Our buddies son missed a Jake for his first bird. Back at it Thursday.

Great season, I took 7 deer between PA and NY, MY son took 4, nephew 1, and my dad missed one. We helped by giving 4 deer to friends and a few families in need. Now its time to dig my ice fishing stuff out and grind some meat to make more jerky, hot and sweet sausage. We just dropped hogs off at butcher 1/4 so ill have plenty of fresh pork to mix. First time in my life every deer I shot died in sight, with the longest "track" being 40 yards. 2/4 sons in sight longest track 70 yards, nephews just out of sight 50 yard track.

So I unscrewed the palm saver on the ram rod, pushed the ram rod as far as I could through the barrel from the break, then pushed the ram rod with a stick to clear the bad power and round out of the muzzle, then just pulled out the ram rod and reloaded.

i do the same as you, i clear my mz every time i get home. I put a piece of an antler in my bag now to do it.

Brought my 8 yr old daughter out at 3 for her first hunt, she made it till 4:30 and we saw one small one. She snored for an hour. Tons of deer on drive home! She made me stop every time. My last hunt of the season will be in the morning. Got another family lined up if I can connect on a doe or buck with my reg season tag.

Might hunt a day or two in holiday hunt, other than that it’s been a great season. My son got 4, I got 5, between 2 states. Pa was rough, it’s still snow covered there and all the deer were hanging on neighbors with green patches that melted but we didn’t have any spots like those.

Had a good friend go out this morning and shot a young buck chasing doe. Might have to sneak out after work Thurs.

Saw three doe this am. Headed to pa camp. Told my dad to hunt where I hunted this weekend. Tons of tracks and sign from early Nov.

i shoot most my deer with the bow so i dont do that lol. Although sometimes i do, Its really the only time any of us feel little to no stress at all is in the woods.

PA opener was not bad, I saw over 10 deer from the cabin, but didnt feel like takin a doe, actually no one wanted doe first weekend. I sat in a blind sun evening and saw two bucks fighting 500 yards away (200 yards from another guy). Got on the radio and boom 30 minutes later the bigger 8 pt was dead. prolly 100". Fri and sat will be my last two days as I have to work Sunday. But the smoke pole is ready too. Cut my sons doe from wed up last night, perfect temps to let her hang for 5 days.

Took to my dad I’ve seen deer every sit this year 3-14 of them. Tons of tracks but nothing seen. He’s gonna hit a few spots this weekend I told him too. I’m heading to PA camp.

Dad shot right under a doe at 8am, clean miss at least. I sat with him in the blind cause we had to walk the hill and carried one gun to save weight. We tapped out early. Back at em tomorrow am then I’m headed to PA.

Hey gang we went back and found her bed. Thoughts? Plenty of dark blood. Tracked for another 50 yards just a spot here and there nothing great. We decided to stop and pick it up in the am. Now I know we are expecting snow but these are giant pines she is in and the snow wont make it to the pine floor.
I’d give it two hours and go back, that deers not going far.

Ill be out with my son in the morning, then running to PA camp to set up water and get the heat turned on very low. Probably an evening hunt too back over the NY border.

MY coworker sat in my stand in 7p yesterday morning, reported a 13" wide 4 point chasing two doe around.

I have a very hard time believing that, at most a citation. which even that is unlikely.

we sat morning and evening yesterday in a spot we havnt hunted, nothin, found some good sign though. off wed through mon but will be in pa starting sat. AKA cabin hunting for a doe in my pajamas and the utv driver/der pickup crew chief.

11 and 8 inch beards. 1" spurs, my scale is not great but said just a touch over 22lbs, I think he closer to 23-24lbs based on carrying him out.
