  1. Hmmm, I want to see the ramifications before we dance in the street…..So what’s to say the state doesn’t pass a law of necessity just like the safe act the all pistol permits require a 100 hrs training? Other possible requirements?

Justice Brett Kavanaugh, joined by Chief Justice John Roberts, noted the limits of the decision. States can still require people to get a license to carry a gun, Kavanaugh wrote, and condition that license on “fingerprinting, a background check, a mental health records check, and training in firearms handling and in laws regarding the use of force, among other possible requirements.”

I moved to CT, but happy to meet maybe in Danbury somewhere if you don’t want to come all the way to “Down the Hatch” area east of candlewood lake

Danbury is farther away, but up to you.

Done fair bit of work from Cornwall Bridge to Kent in general when i had a Ct contractors license.  But ranged a few times far as Brookfield.

Most Sundays I'm in the area meeting a friend.

    Sent you a pm

  3. A Tesla Model Y dual motor is very sporty off the line, and a hoot to drive. Had a chance to drive one a few times now.

I’m not about to trade my slower GR86 or Boxster for one, but its a great drive.

Fair amount of places to charge around here in store lots, but cost and long term with a battery is still a non starter for me.

Well, thanks a lot for all the replies. I never realized just how far behind I am on the current gun transfer laws. I knew I could count on you guys for the straight scoop. I knew pistols were all snarled up in harassment laws, but I didn't realize that they had already spread their crap to long-guns too.

    2013, not exactly new…..

Although I’ve run chainsaws since I was 14 I feel like the learning curve with an electric chainsaw would be real.   Besides the feel, the fact it’s got to be considerably quieter a person could drop their guard with it.

    Its about 30 seconds.

I bought a Milwaukee pole saw/leaf blower combo and was so impressed I bought the 16” chain saw to go with. That thing kicks ass.

And for frame of reference I cut between 5 and 6 full cords for myself a year, maybe another 2 for others.

I still use my 24” bar Stihl 390 for bigger stuff but the electric is damn good, and I can throw it inside the truck without the stink of gas.

I’ll never use my Stihl  2 stroke leaf blower again, its a dinosaur.

I'm not able to find it online anywhere . Does anyone have a link to the speech he gave honoring the heroes of this great nation . Clearly he didn't piss on more military veterans ,what kind of commander in chief would do that? You can PM me the link or post it here , thanks in advance.

    All speeches are on Whitehouse.gov.

Its pretty simple to look up something.

On vets, this was today if its what your looking for?

  8. I wouldn’t have guessed many F1 fans here.

I have followed forever, was in high school and went to the last F1 race at watkins glen (track management stiffed the drivers of prize money!) Have gone to Canadian GP in Montreal most years. Its a circus and qualifying day is a cool thing to see. Got to meet Niki Lauda in an airport, he was long retired at that point.

Rain and a drying track always has thrown teams into disarray and made for unpredictable outcomes like today.

There's a guy that works with a lot of the NAVHDA guys I train with. If you'd like I can find his name. I think he;s around the new paltz area? There's also Orvis in Dutchess county

Along those same lines as Sandanona(Orvis), and also in Millbrook, you could inquire at British Sporting Arms. Charles the owner coached the British Olympic team and would think he would know folks in Mid Hudson area in general.

I attended a small group session with Vicki Ash (her husband and son also instruct on shotgun) and it was really good. They travel all over holding clinics, but I was out of state when I did that class.

I will once again be participating in the 11 Day Power Play community shift on June 28,2022. This is a great fundraiser for Roswell Park Cancer Center. I'm sure we all know someone close to us that has fought the battle against cancer. I am one of those people. I have Leukemia, and Roswell has been a huge part of my success in keeping the cancer under control. The medicine that I take was developed through Roswell Park cancer research!

Please help me with my fundraising efforts and donate whatever you feel you can. Every donation makes a difference! Please use this link to make your donation.

  11. FWIW;

Midway has Kenetrek gaiters on sale for less then half price right now.

I have Kenetrek and OR both high and low, OR’s are a bit loud but I wear the lows the most. OR highs are great in deep snow and shed powder well.

And when the solvent dissolves it, the color it will come out will be blue.

And I’d add its super important to follow directions when using copper solvents as they are aggressive if left in a bore and need to be throughly cleaned out as part of the process.

I have never used metal brushes in my bores, just use patches with solvent /oil and the plastic patch holder. Never had rust in my bores but that would be the only time I would slide a metal brush down the bore. As you indicated, it was the brush that caused the black on the patches.

There’s no reason to be scared of a brass brush in a bore, wont hurt anything.

Most smiths will say more damage is done cleaning by using a cheap rod and running it from the muzzle end messing with the crown.

Wow , you guys sure put a lot of time and money into shooting a deer or two .

Its a hobby like any other, its not always measured on a return of investment.

Ive raised beef/pigs/chickens, done maple syrup on a serious scale, restored old tractors, owned no less then 200 rifles most never killed anything but paper, learned to weld, and hunted a fair bit all over the place.

In the last month bought 2 fun cars, one old to mess with and one new so i can just drive it.

Dont care if how much time ive spent on any of it, its not the point.

  16. FWIW I have a 2moa red dot on a 220. (Aimpoint 9000sc)

I’m switching more rifles over to that and taking off low power scopes. I don’t need any magnification for 125yds and in(that distance fits what I need a slug gun for, and many rifles), love the wide field of view both eyes open in the thick woods, give up nothing on accuracy, super fast on a target including when one is moving.

But Aimpoint products  are not inexpensive. Up side is the battery life is staggeringly good(years), the dot it self is very crisp edges and brightness adjustment is top notch, windage and elevation are precise, mounting is a breeze with lots of options.

Would you have been willing to potentially just piss off a big grizzly with a poor shot?  Not to mention hunting from the ground.  lol  NOT ME!

IIRC Bear hunted polar bear 3 times with the guide shooting the bear on charges, connecting on the 4th try having the bear succumbing to the bow shot.

And thats not a knock, chasing dangerous game with a old school bow takes more balls then I got. Standing there with a rifle makes you feel like a toothpick is in your hands when big game gets serious, standing there with a pointy stick puts it all on the guide. It might not help, but at least I can do something even if its just in my own mind.

I will say that I have not handled one. It seems very similar to my 06 over the internet, but I cant really find places near me that even sell them, let alone one that has it in stock

Take a ride out I-80 and see Alex Roy at Europtics in PA. He’s the single biggest dealer of Sauer/Mauser/Blaser in the US. (Also Swarovski)

He has a 7-08 classic 100 in stock right now.

He’ll have a booth at Harrisburg show currently.

I’ve owned a couple Sauer rifles. Some from before Blaser bought them ( models 200 and 202) and shot several 101’s and one 100. Right now I have a Dural 3000 Drilling, a 30-06 200, and a 202 with a couple barrels (they interchange on same receiver)

New guns have super slick actions, fantastic triggers. Barrels are made in Isny on the same line as Blasers stuff. Very well machined inside and out. One catch is you can’t fit a new barrel ever, the receiver is not threaded, but the average hunter will never shoot out a barrel in a lifetime. Sauer has always been noted for some of the slickest cycling bolt actions around; driven hunts demand quick reloads in much European hunting.

For many years I was involved with a group online that used the three brands, and did a couple meet ups and hunts where we shot LOTS of rifles. Much of what I have is European based manufacturers so familiar with in and outs.
