I notice on nobodies cams there are does & bucks in the same pictures yet, but they are scraping! Ones I just pulled on Monday shows necks puffed up a little like they been sparring a bit.

Got up at 3:45 this morning so I'm not draggin my butt on Saturday, It wasn't even light out this morning until 7am. I should be able to sneak in saturday morning about 1 and 1/2 hours before down and be nicely situated. Now to decide what stand to sit in..... leaning towards my apple tree/swamp stand. I got pictures of at least 2 different 8 pointers coming through and sniffing for does on my trail cam.

Yeah I love that site John, much more accurate than weather.com and has been pretty accurate for wind speeds / time of day.

Looks like Rain Friday clearing to windy overnight/early morning. Maybe they'll be moving a bit to dry out. More likely sleeping all day. Full Moon the following Friday, so it will be getting pretty bright out at night.

Looks like a fat house cat, looks ALOT like my wifes rather rotund kitty.

Who is ready for the "Southern Zone" Oct 16th opener!?!
UpStateRedNeck replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
4 stands at 100% readiness, 2 I haven't checked on but they should be fine from last year. Haven't washed my clothes. Just got a new dozen gold tips in the mail yesterday, have to break some of them in tomorrow night. Have to put up posted signs on monday, and maybe MAYBE move another stand. Getting married, honeymoon and now house hunting is cutting into my hunt time. -
For any golfers out there
UpStateRedNeck replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Chit Chat
I just play with the Raw Distance balls, 2 packs for 25$ at golf galaxy. Love my new driver with those, just plain dirty. Hopefully new irons next year! -
If the woods seem dead, do you grunt or rattle?
UpStateRedNeck replied to burmjohn's topic in General Hunting
Pretty much the exact same story for me last year, except I had a decent buck come in to the grunt tube/estrus can. Rangefinder should keep my itchy release finger under control this year. "Yeah that looks like 40 yards!" Haven't had a buck come in to rattling yet though. -
I butcher my own, but I've heard good things abotu that guy off western near stuyvesant, buddy who hunts on our land says he does great stuff with deer meat.

starter rifle for a 14 year old
UpStateRedNeck replied to Stretchhunts's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I'd go with the Marlin X-Bolt 30-06, should be able to find one slightly over 300$, and it's ridiculously accurate, something he'll own for the rest of his life. -
So, rules that I can't cuss out that deer farmer who's got bucks set up like calves in a box? I knew there was a reason I held my tongue.

You know, when I'm gutting a deer, I think about sort of thing and tend to be a little more on the nervous side. Not for cougar, but I know for a fact theres bear around.

I took my first deer with a bow last year, using the rages, and it looked almost exactly like Cabin's. Almost primeval. I had to watch where I was stepping so I didn't get blood all over the cuffs of my pants.

Crappyice- Last year was my first year, and if you switch stands as much as me (7 to choose from), you really do want a range finder. I missed a nice 6 clean underneath last year because I thought 50 yards was ~35. It's easy to misjudge the distance it seems. I got a leupold RX 6X from Cabelas for 200$, and though it almost cost me my life when I got home to the wife, it was worth it.

Yep, shower with all the scent free most-likely-nonsense stuff in hot hot water, brush teeth with natural mint + baking soda, and gargle with the same mouthwash before heading out. Even if it isn't all that effective, it can't hurt, and it makes me feel a bit more confident.

Definitely a porker. Sometimes they look weird after they've lost some quills, but that's pretty text book normal looking porcupine......

Well, thank you for proving my point as to what kind of person you are. Please go someplace else and leave this forums to people who are interested in discussing hunting, not slaughterhousing. Done with this topic, I suggest everybody else don't give this guy any more attention.

google "Four Season Whitetails" and you'll find some forum posts, this is the fourth hit http://www.deerforums.com/vbforums/showthread.php?p=34082 and you click around from there and get the idea.

Having googled you and your "farm" I can pretty safely say you're simultaneously giving both hunters and farmers a bad name, of which I am both. I'll keep the rest of my opinions to myself.

First Pictures of my new addiction
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Wild Game Innovations D8D, no complaints so far now that it is set up properly. Got it at dicks for 179 with a 30$ or 20$ (forget) mail in rebate. Came with the 2gb SD card, batteries and security bracket. Only thing I really had to buy was a lock and an SD card reader. Haven't checked it in almost 2 weeks now, too damn busy. -
These are the highlights of about 80 pictures of deer/animals in 2 weeks at this spot, mostly of Doe browsing for apples.

That second to last little guy looks as if he got the snot kicked out of him, either had his left horn knocked off or just didn't grown one, but that left ear looks shredded.

Starter Trail Cam Recommendations?
UpStateRedNeck replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
As a follow up, thanks for the advice everyone, appreciated, I moved my camera 2 weeks ago to an apple tree area, and had 86 pics when I checked yesterday, about 60 of which were actual deer. I'll put up the high light reel when I get home later, but there's a nice shooter 6+ (can't see if has brow tines or not) and a whole lot of doe activity. Plus a fox and some yotes. -
Make sure you check him for steroids once you take him, nice buck!
