I'll personally start a go fund me for Spitzy's expensive habits if he'd just be governor again. Andy is a miserable prick. He'll make a presidential run in 5 years I hope.

anyone rethinking the opener for a day off?
UpStateRedNeck replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Bow Hunting
Yeah I'm waffling on opening day now. Friday looks like the day, we'll see as the forecast firms up. Looks like a possible frost Friday night : -
He looks...... well fed.

Vacation days for 2019 deer season
UpStateRedNeck replied to oapiastos88's topic in Big Woods Hunting
I'd concur with Grampy AND Core. If you don't bowhunt, get yourself a crossbow, and hunt that week prior to gun. If you bowhunt and fall on that side of the purist line, that's still the magical week to be in the woods. Opening day of gun season is a given. If you have any spare time left over I'd get out at the beginning of December, between second rut and all the pressure just being gone you'll see some big deer in broad daylight. -
I can't compete with that epic sh!t story, but here's one of my favorites : In college I had a (obviously now ex) live-in girlfriend that worked for KFC. Naturally my buddies and I took advantage of this and ate there on a very frequent basis. One day, in the midst of drinking, we decided it was food time. After eating what had to be for the 5th day in a row the Colonel's banquet, we were BS'ing and drinking in the parking lot, when I thought I had to fart quite badly. Public Service Announcement: Malt Liquor + KFC for several days straight is not a safe environment for farting. So when the hot jet hit the back of my boxers I decided I'd go in and clean up before getting in the car for the drive back. In the bathroom, that my ex would have to clean up later, most of the damage was contained by my boxers, but would leave a mess if I pulled them off. IDEA! Whip out the trusty swiss army knife, use the scissors to clip the boxers off and peel em off like a brown curtain! Toss em in the paper towel trash, use some paper towels to get the worst of the mess off, then on the way out tell my ex that some disgusting pig left a nasty mess in her bathroom!

At least you guys in WNY got the game. Capital region gets the stinky Jets/Giants games if they are on at the same time. No idea if they're showing next weekend's game or not.

Checked the plot yesterday. Bone dry and the seeds haven't germinated. And I left the camera turned off so I don't even get to see how many deer and turkey we're on it gobbling down all those oats. Hopefully we get enough rain this afternoon to get things moving. -
It's true. Especially in the woods by yourself. They're slippery, and one end tried to fall off the quad while you hoist the other end. Now for getting then in the back of the truck, I like the redneck nesting dolls approach :

Yeah this is my problem too. Usually by myself, on the side of a hill.

Mahomey is our only hope to not have to see the frigging Cheatriots in the Superbowl again. Let's see how next Sunday goes, I hope Oliver snaps Toms ACL Terrifically.

What are your expectations for the season?
UpStateRedNeck replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
Fatty in the freezer in early October, then chill til Halloween. Looking to bring home my first big boy with an arrow this year. Taken a few decent sized 2.5 yo's, haven't gotten a bruiser with the bow or Xbow. -

Is that an old Hayliner? Takes me back. Blisters on the hands, sunburn on the back of the neck, arms covered in little hay-needle marks. Spend an hour in the creek down in the valley by falls getting the sting of the burn out in 50 degree water. Certain amount of Darwinism involved in haying with a 70+ year old man from age 12 to 30 every summer. RIP Grumps, hope you're navigating your Flying Tiger over the Himalayas somewhere in the afterlife.

We're rocking a Ford 3000, 8N, and a Massey Furgason 65 diesel right now. Just put a grand into the Massey, head gasket, radiator etc.

I really miss it on mornings like this. Stuck in an office. I know I'm remembering through some Rosey glasses, but I miss time with my grandfather on the farm. Just glad I still get to do this sort of thing with my dad once in a while. Hope my girls get the privilege of doing so someday too.

What?! No, seriously, didn't hear you.

I got a nice flashlight / green laser dot for my Siggy from that online sale. Plus 2 pairs of light gloves and a couple cheap beanies for under 4$ a piece. Any suggestions on a holster or rig that will hold a longslide + rail attachment?

Couldn't agree more. And GOOD I say. Screw the new Jersey Giants and Jets. Buffalo has a pretty easy schedule if they win the games they should it will be a happy season. Now excuse me, I'm going to buy tickets for that Miami game......

Yeah the tow behind for the quad worked great. Put out 100lbs of seed in about 5 minutes. Just hope it rained up there sometime this weekend or the turkey/deer are going to slobber all those oat seeds down. Used a ghetto rake composed of 2x4s and big nails to work them into the ground. Worked pretty good too! Next spring going to have that disc at 100%, then York rake all the crap off and plant brassica most likely. -
OK so does this look like the same Doe in picture 3 as pictures 1 & 2? If so, I'm impressed with how resilient the poor old girl is. Just looking at that thing makes me a little queasy. Also something black and fuzzy.
