  1. That seed spreader worked great. The disc harrow did OK, but not great on that field. I'm sure once I get the front gang fixed it will be a beast. Now just need some rain so the seeds germinate.
  2. You might want to consider throwing an M80 or something in his direction. More for his safety than yours. If he stats this unafraid of people he's going to wind up in somebody's freezer before too long.
  3. Bears, coyotes, a doe with a massive abscess on her, and this dude, who seems like he's looking for the title of Big Balls to get passed down. Hard to tell without both pictures, but nice and wide for up there. I'll be really fascinated to see what kind of racks these deer grow in a couple years once I get the phosphate in the soil up on half a dozen acres or so.
  4. Should I put some sort of rain guard above the windows ? Can't help but think alot of water will run inside?
  5. I don't think you have to tag him if challenges you to fisticuffs? Have your pistol permit Jerry?
  6. I swear by the Browning's now. They last forever on 6AAs, are small, great range and trigger speed. High quality photos too.
  7. Solid advice. The tractor mounted one we have is rusted badly due to this sort of neglect. Not my doing.
  8. Just went to TSC and grabbed one of these. Got a new shed, might as well fill it with more crap! Hoping next year, to put in some more plots, especially if they ever do my logging on the side of the mountain.
  9. Dogs are the best. Love me a pooch companion. Even when they find every burdoch and Burr in the field.
  10. Thanks guys! Would the tow behind work well with the phosphate and lime?
  11. I'll probably only be doing half acre to acre plots. Do tow behind spreaders work over broken up ground? Side question, what's a quick and dirty way to drag it? Tractor and quad at my disposal.
  12. Need one in the near future, don't know if a tow behind one will work well in a field after I disk it? Could do a quad, tractor, pretty much all the options are open. Don't much feel like a huge investment into one at this point. Thoughts?
  13. I called the local feed store last night, they don't have any winter wheat, so I think I'll do rye mixed with oats. Hoping to get it done tomorrow, before the rain on Saturday. As I recall it was 30$ for a 50# bag of rye, a little more for the oats. Plus I have to add phosphate and quick acting lime. Be around 100$ when I walk out of there
  14. That's where my brain went with it too.
  15. Read through this topic dude : I bought 2 last year, 1 for me and 1 for my dad. A few tips in there, like taking down the straps and butt stock. I bought these, threw rage 2 blades on em: Black Eagle Executioner Crossbow Fletched Arrows - .001" 6 Pack - 20" - 2" Bohning Blazer Vane https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0725L66YK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_s7zEDbWTJGB9H
  16. Dad always used hoppes. So did I for 20 years. Then I read this : The Total Gun Manual (Field & Stream): 335 Essential Shooting Skills https://www.amazon.com/dp/1616282193/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yzdEDb760BH2G Always enjoyed those 2 guys articles in field and stream, so I listened to then about firearm cleaning and storage. Now I use Break Free CLP.
  17. Ha! If you're going to prove a point, why not do it in hot pink? Been chomping at the bit all week to get back up there and finish.
  18. Can see the burnings from my office building on the state campus. Been burning almost every week this summer. Can you eat deer taken in there? I see the dump on the skyline next to it and the thought turns my stomach.
  19. Thanks Otto! Yeah I was going to do winter wheat and rye, and maybe put a stripe of whitetail institute winter greens down the middle just to see how they do. Thinking about doing a tiny little plot on the other side of the new blind, right in the middle of the 10 foot brush, but don't know what I'd put in there. Maybe next year.
  20. First timer question :. Should I York rake over the seed after I spread it? Or just let it lay? Maybe use something like a 2x4 box with some woven with across the frame to drag it? We got an old York rake sitting right by the cabin.
  21. Screw the Jets. As usual they made it as tough as possible. I need a drink after that game. All whining aside really like the direction McDermit and Bean are taking them!
  22. Hauling everything up was a little touch and go, but we made it work. Quad flipped the thing upright after I got it up far enough. Another couple hours of work to do, install the windows, spray foam the cracks, throw a carpet in and build the permanent ladder. Tips everyone gave me for this project were invaluable, thanks guys! Especially Greendrake!
  23. Man, I love it when equipment finally works. I'm really impressed with this brush hog. Went through trees as big as my wrist, and on a second pass all the way lowered ripped out most of the roots and stems. Taking some more time tomorrow to finish throwing the stand up, brush hog some more lanes, and knock down the plot. Hopefully this weekend get a hydraulic ram on the disc harrow and start busting some sod. Before and after :
