First time I've seen a wild one. Pretty cool. Been scared by them after dark yowling a few times. -

Owls are awesome. Last year, during muzzle loader, my dad and his buddy are inside the cabin getting hammered, lying their butts off to one another when I get back from the stand 30 minutes past dark. Just enough light in the sky for me to see a great horned perched about 20 yards away from those 2 old goats inside making a racket. The bird is doing a side to side step thing and tilting it's head, like " WTF ?! ". They have interesting personalities.

I just did that this morning. The general idea was that since the deer have been very hard to get to, in my case a big stand of white oaks where they've been feeding then bedding, get there in the dark and settled and let them filter in.

That has to be one of the hardest days I've hunted. Don't think I'll be doing to 2am thing again for a while. Last day out for the year is Sunday, get the feeling the bucks are going to win this year. Need a cabin with some amenities up there. At least the road was frozen so the truck didn't get beat up today.

I'll say this for my 5am post up:. There's 0 light pollution out here, stars were fabulous. Had a good solid hour to stare at them.

Spooked the 2 doe w 3 fauns that hang out on my ridge field. Dad told me I could have his landowners tag, and I still got my bow/mz tag. This adds up to doemageddeon next week. Wind is all over the place, should be off my right shoulder but it's mostly in my face. Need somebody to come cruisin'! It's 2 om and I've been in the woods for 10 hours. Oy.

Seems like each deer season for 4 years running now I get ONE shot each season. I think this year is my 3rd year in a row where ive screwed it up. Not shots during gun.

Jumped a big fella 100 yards from my quad on the way out, 10:45. Didn't even get time to un sling it. Outhouse is warmer than 330 am!

There's just an unreal amount of sign out here. Whole woods is covered in crap. 9 piles within 10 feet of me.

I hereby name this forest "Squirrel-topia"! I think I got busted about an hour ago, thought I heard a blow a few hundred yards away.

Almost 200 yards away from where I wanted to be! Followed the contour of the hill too far. Thought it took longer than it should have to get out here .
