I have multiple pics of both deer and they are definitely different deer. I am very excited for this year. Happy hunting!!!

My camera is off he beaten path and locked. I am hoping most hunters are ethical and wouldn't steal it.

there are some nice bucks out there this year

One last post on this topic I started. The main point i was trying to make was would fellow hunters support the idea of designating 1 area in each county (public land) for hunters to practice AR. I think most of you would not even be affected and those that want it would have an oppurtunity to hunt a place that has some sort of AR guidelines. Also all of you guys that say trophy hunting would sway non hunters to look at hunting in a bad light. Well I guess all those mid west states and Penn should be in big trouble with the general public because they have had AR in place for years.. I think that argument is BS.

Larry the 65% I am talking about that supports QDM was the result of a cornell study that polled hunters in 3 wildlife management areas near Syracuse. I think that is pretty good sample of what he general hunting pop. thinks. Oh well, I think we will agree to disagree on this. If you would have asked my what side of the fence I was on 10 years ago I would have been against AR. So I try to be understanding on Both opinions.

Well doewhacker why are you so against having some public land for the AR hunters to hunt on. Scot is right 65% are for some sort of change. So why wouldn't the DEC want to keep the majority of paying hunters happy. It probably wouldn't even affect you because you probably hunt posted land. Its not all about just shooting a bug buck for bragging rights. I enjoy being out in the woods year round and if I shot the firstbuck that walked by I would be home after the first week of the season. When you go fishing and you catch a walleye that is 1 inch under the size limit are you bent ou of shape because you can't keep it. Fishing regulations are understood by so many and sportsman don't seem to be unhappy about having size limits for fish. I guess change is difficult for some to understand. Nothng stays the same just remember that doewhacker

here are some of last year pics all from state land and I was lucky enough to score on one of them

Thanks for everones input on this topic. We have to keep in mind that we are all on the same team and all I am asking for is to have a place to hunt where about half of the yearling bucks will live to see another year. I do pass up smaller bucks every year on public land. I usually get a 2.5 or bigger buck about every other year. My trail camera sure supports that there are bug bucks out there at a higher rate than 20 years ago. I do beleive that the DEC issues way to many doe permits and that has a detrimental impact on the number of deer that are out there. I can remember when I first started hunting in the 80's you neede 2 or 3 people on a permit. Now thats not the case and I can shoot up to 4 does a year with all my tags. I don't understand the logic. But I can definitely see the difference in the deer population decline over the years. I know that coyotes are having an impact and the dec has to take that into account, but they don't. Happy hunting this year

Here is my solution to ANTLER RESTRICTION FOR cny. How come the DEC doesn't Pick one area of state land in each county and dedicate it to antler restriction. Therfore, If you are against the idea you can choose to hunt another public area that has know restrictions. I am for antler restriction and here in CNY I have no option to hunt public land that has any AR. Considering I am in the majority as polls have indiacated I am interested in hearing what others think about this idea.

from my experience early sign like this is made by a dominate buck . If you have a trail cam you will know exactly what you are dealing with. I wouldn't play around in the area to much.. Set up and get out of the area. Good luck

I hunt in central ny on state land. All my hunting buddies have either left the state or don't hunt anymore. I enjoy the comaraderie and comparing hunting stories back at the car at lunch time. I hunt hard and every weeknd of the season. If you are looking for a place to hunt in cny on state land I would be more than happy to show you around..

From Nov 5-11 usually has been good for me

I agree that the full moon is terrible for hunting. Every year I swear that I will never hunt another full moon. I have thought about mid day hunting during the full moon. I am not sure if that is any good either
