Who said smelling like chicken wings, IPA and Fireballs was a bad thing???
-
Does she smell like chicken wings and IPA?

And if you do rinse pat it dry not wipe with paper towels. You want the membrane to dry out as moist equals germ factory.

Oh hell no Wooly I've looked for years and never found a shed! You're a dang legend to me!!

Is that how they look a while after dropping? I’ve seen broken ones and fresh shed which are bright red/ pink. And otherwise it looks healthy and acted healthy till it got lead poisoning of course. I have not skinned it but no injuries stood out and belly was full. It does have a bunch of ticks but that is usual. It will go to the processor in a couple days. See what he says. So I shot what I thought was a good doe this morning. When I got up to her I found out it was a he. Both antlers are gone at the pedicle. Black and ooze. Any ideas as I’ve never seen this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Grow if the sign of the kill is that obvious and they were trespassing and where they came from and to and you have vehicle descriptions I would have involved DEC right quick. As mac said sounds like you have a great place but some idiots around.

11/22 am Went out this morning and it was mid 30's and light rain. The temperature was falling and supposed to turn to wet snow. I was in well before light and without disturbing anything. I kept my attention on a main trail through a small opening well before legal as coyotes come through here quite regular. It was slow getting light, not like yesterday when the snow was on the ground. No early coyotes this morning and I was sipping on a hot coffee enjoying the morning. A short while later I caught movement coming out of the thick stuff and onto the trail. It was a good sized deer all alone. I got the binoculars out and no antlers. The deer was too big to be a button. It stopped where it had joined the trail for a while testing the wind for a bit then slowly started coming in. I had decided I would take her as she was a good sized doe. It did not matter if a buck was following her since I have filled that tag. I got the TC Triumph up and ready as she would take a step or two and stop. She was pretty much head on so I was just waiting for her to turn. She finally turned and gave me a quartering to shot so I settled the crosshairs and gave a slow squeeze. The TC barked up a big white cloud of smoke and after a few seconds that cleared and she laid motionless where she had stood just flipped around. I relaxed for a few minutes and sucked in the morning. I looked at the time and it was 7:30 just about the same time I shot the buck Saturday. After a bit I packed up my gear and went over to see her. As I knelt next to her to look her over and give my thanks to her I quickly noticed the top of her head looked a little off. She was actually a he. Both antlers were broken off at the pedicles and they where black. I rolled it over and he has all the boy tools as well. Once I got him home I put him on the scale he was 120 pounds dressed without any fat on him. Tarsals all stained up as well. I am happy for the meat for the freezer and I am pretty much done. The remainder of my season will be spent sitting with my son as he hunts. And maybe a look for one of the big boys in late ML season

I'll have to see if it has a name on it. I swear I got it from Sportsman's Guide many, many moons ago. It is cheap but has served me well. Hoisted a couple ton of deer.
-
I'll agree with you there. Like when you slaughter a pig and cut the juggler. But yes for deer gutted in the field and dead for a bit. Not much blood going to come out that has not in the gutting.
-
He is pretty much spot on. If you cut an artery or vein you will get some. But a hanging whole deer the blood does not all run from one end to the other!
-
120 pounds not a lick of fat on him.
-
Unfortunately it is a buck! When it came out I'm like sweet big ass doe, just what I'm looking for. 45 yard shot with the ML dropped on spot. Go over to it and hey now its got boy tools and both antlers nastily busted at skull. I am now just out with the boy for him to get one and then maybe see if a big boy around in late ML.

That’s a bunch of hooey!! When it’s dead the blood does not pool up in neck or the hinds! It stays where it is unless cut. That’s basic science. Now hanging head up or down just seems to be how you learned. But head up the body cavity drains out where ya wrung it. Head down it all sits in the neck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s a bit wet. Temp falling and supposed to turn to snow for a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I learned as a kid up northern Dacks to hang from the neck and have just found it easier to skin and quarter that way. As someone else said plenty of ways to skin a cat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Me too Chris if you don’t mind!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m questioning 800 pounds and the legality of not getting it out in consumable shape. Wanton waste with deer is illegal is bear different. And the guy should lose his license. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
