And the cabin is pretty much in the center of the 65 acres? Not near the property line.

Thanks for the input* ! Sounds like it would be a beech to get any equipment in and out. Like for putting in food plots... Digging a pond......

Found an interesting place for sale. I was concerned how steep it may be. http://nylandquest.com/property/lq7366/

Is anyone familiar with this forest? How is the hunting? Is there a lot of pressure? Anything interesting about it? Thanks.

I do not mind some cold and some snow. Just not 4 months of it. lol I should say eastern. I think Virginia would be a area worth more consideration. Then again I think the best idea is stay here. Retire and head south after deer season and come back when walleye opens!! -

I have to agree with you that upstate New York is hard to beat with the Mountains, abundance of public land, all the streams, rivers and lakes.... I have no interest in Skiing, skating, snowmobiling, snowshoeing...... I like to be outside not in Sorrels and Parkas!! Looking for something similar that may gain me a couple months of true outside weather!! Without losing four seasons and being oppressively hot. As well as some state that does not keep trying to take my gun rights away. And does so much to push businesses out of the state. -

If this was to me because my job covers the east. I manage 34 production facilities from Miami to New Hampshire so I do need to stay East. -

I have been thinking the same thing, south! Want to stay east coast. Not too far that you do not get seasons. No Florida bull....too hot!! Somewhere in that range of KY, TN VA and NC. I gotta think of good school district as well. Need good deer hunting. Bonus would be able to drive to Ocean within 6 hours less better. Not on coast due to expense and hurricanes. Reasonable to cheap land prices. Realistic gun/pistol laws....... -

It should not have that kind of smell. I would be tossing that and try another pack.

Nice!! A nickel a pound.

Same here Gino!! My son and I went out for a couple hours Saturday. Did some looking for squirrels and sheds. Found 30 plus deer beds and such but no sheds, I do not go often but the last 2-3 years try to get out a few times and nothing! I have found whole dead heads but never a shed in 30+ years of hunting! Found everything else....Turtle shells, all kinds of bones and skulls, old old bottles and such, lots of balloons..... Someday!!

Dude if you do not think that is impressive you must be pretty amazing!! I have seen a lot of shooters and trick shooters and have seen nothing like that. I will say this is a video and who knows how many misses were edited out but still impressive, very.

I have not seen much all year long. Then about two weeks ago a went past a field about 10 miles from home and there had to be 80-100 turkeys. I have never seen a group so big!

I use the chemical toe warmers and as others have said buy boots that are not tight with a wicking sock and one good heavy sock. But after 3 hours on stand my feet still get cold when its 20-25 or lower out. My old boots busted out so I am in the market as well. I do not want huge boots. You want a real challenge try finding something made in the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks super!! I did some Canadian last summer in the smoker. Man was I impressed. I only did 4 pounds or so. Next time I will be doing about 12-15!! Good stuff that! Pork loins were $1.99 pound last week. I have at least 2 whole ones in the freezer now!! I cut my own chops or 4 pound hunks to smoke for pulled pork as well.
-
I sure enjoy a good cigar, but as a lot of the others have said I do not get a chance to much in the winter. No smoking in the house here. I have a small humidor up in the sports den. My favorite smoke is the ACID Xtra Ordinary Larry, CAO Brazil, Rocky Patel, Nub Maduro.... I also have taken a liking to some caramel moonshine, goes well with a good cigar!!
-
I have used a gas smoker for years. For Christmas I got an electric I am very pumped to start using it. Long 8-14 hour smokes won't be such a deal now!! I have smoked, ribs, briskets, butts for pulled pork, ABTs, snack sticks, summer sausage, fatties, chickens, turkeys....... We could go on for hours about techniques and recipes!!! A great site is http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/ Start there and if you have more specific questions quite a few guys/gals on here with a bit of experience. I am still learning for 6 years or so now...lol

I have never had any issues with well packaged venison, vacuum sealed lasts longer. I also am calling some bull on the pork no longer than 6 months. I buy whole loins when on sale for smoking and have no issues as well with sausages I make with venison and pork mixed. They are all just fine and tasty.

I always check where food is from before I buy it. Seafood is a big one to look at. I sure as heck want no farm raised crap from China or anywhere else. But $20 bucks for a chicken yikes!!!! No way I am paying $20 for a 3-4 pound chicken!! I'll go down the street and hit a goose over the head with a golf club first!! lol Purdue I believe still raises all there birds in the states. I also make a serious effort to try to buy as much other products as I can from the USA, at times it is not even possible without going way outa range in price. Imported crap really needs to be taxed to give USA produced items an advantage. You know that's what other countries do.
