Jumped one on way in same place as yesterday and today it was just one. It was a buck cause he stank. I did some grunt and I could hear him walking around up ridge so I backed up 80 yards into my bros hang on. Was hoping he might investigate but not yet.

Ticks are out in cold weather as well. I have had great results with the Sawyers mentioned above as well. If you get one in you DO NOT touch with a lighter or match or alcohol or squeeze with tweezers all of these cause the tick to puke out which is how you can get contaminated. Use one of these they work great. http://www.amazon.com/Ticked-Off-Pets-Remover-White/dp/B00008434T/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1416955037&sr=8-5&keywords=tick+removal+tool&pebp=1416955042498

Many years ago I was hunting a farm up north with a few guys, one of them was the son of the farm owner a retired police officer. The son had seen a Sitka deer and the father called a contact of his in the DEC who I believe got with Ag and Mkts and told him that if it was on their farm they could shoot it. They did not want the farm escapees mingling with the local wildlife. While we were doing a drive it popped out and the son shot it. I will tell you what that was some of the best meat I ever had! I would imagine it would be the same for any non native escapees. I would say with a herd of buffalo though it would be neighborly to try to find the owner for permission as well or if they were trying to recover the escapees. The Sitka was not going to be caught and the expense to try to recover it by darting was not going to happen. Incidentally they also mentioned at the time about 10 fallow deer were loose somewhere else and they were fair game too. That was 20 years ago so may be different now but I do not think so.

Thanksgiving is hunting tradition!! We will be out till mid day early afternoon. I then have dinner with the inlaws. Then out for evening watch. Then to my Moms for another turkey dinner at night. I give thanks for the fat gut I get for two Turkey day dinners each Thanksgiving!! And we have shot a few deer on Thanksgiving as well and that is always super! Been late to dinner more than once!

The 30-30 is still racking up plenty of kills. My marlin put another down last week. It is just one of the best feeling guns in my hands! Started with my dads 35 more than 30 years ago up in the Dacks. About 15 years ago I picked up my 30-30 from a buddies dad who was done hunting. I hardly saw anyone up there hunt with anything else back then.

Congrats on the buck Zem he is a nice one! That sounds like a great morning. I had a better than usual opener too. I think I saw 12 deer. No bears though. Not sure I want a bear that close to me!!

11/23 am 41 Started out in Tully and nothing for first watch. We did a couple drives and no go. Hunted back near home for last watch and nothing. I think the only 2 days I have not seen deer since gun started is Sundays. Think the deer are taking Sundays off I may have to do the same!! I have 2 down I may need to sleep in a morning here soon!

11/22 am 16 Was a very cold morning. My brother in law hit Tully. They had about 6 inches of snow. Got onto watch and after a while noticed movement off to my left. Had a doe coming in. I took a quartering on shot with the 30-30 and she bucked and took off. I saw her run about 100 yards before going out of view. I stayed on watch for an hour then took up the trail. Had good blood but after 200 or so yards she crossed a road. Now this is the silly part. The road boundaries a rifle county from a shotgun. I only have my rifle with me. I get my bro in law and he has a shotgun so I leave my rifle in the truck and we take up the trail. After 100 more yards we hit 3 beds with a lot of blood right around the chest area. We decide to back out so I can run home and back, 45 min each way, so we both have shotguns and one can loop ahead. So a couple hours later we got back on it and I caught up to her. Nice doe dressed out 120 pounds. We got her out and hunted till dark but no other action.

anyone out there hunting or is it to cold to hunt
Fletch replied to sweet old bill's topic in Deer Hunting
I have been out every day except Wednesday morn when the wind was 30 mph. The wind makes it brutal and you can not still hunt because the snow sounds like you step on a bag of potato chips every step just louder. I been seeing a few deer. -
10/21 pm 31 Took my son out squirrel hunting. We saw 4 or 5 but he could not get close enough for a shot. We need a warmer day!! Got into stand at 3pm and 5 minutes later had a doe and 2 fawns go by about 250 yards out. Hit one fresh track on way out near bros stand.

11/21 am 21 Cold again but the wind was finally down a lot. Sat from 6:15 am to 10:30 not a thing. Few sets of tracks from last night. My bro sat for a bit and zip too.

Sat 6:15am to 10:30am not a thing. My 12 yr old had half day so we went out for some squirrels. He got close to a few but just not enough for any shots. Back in stand at 3 and 3:05 a doe and 2 fawns go by but out 250 yards

11/20 pm 28 Got out back in the field stand for the last 45 minutes. It is a two minute walk when I get stuck short of time. Was in the stand 10 minutes and see one coming towards the trail so I get the gun ready. It turns out to be my big button. He goes back into brush and I hang up the gun to take pics. Then I realize he is not alone. It turns out he was with a small doe. She was not much bigger than him but I think she is 1.5. She got a pass I need more than a 85-90 pound dressed doe! Got mouths to feed! lol Wonder if he is rutting or looking for a mom, his hocks were stained up. I am off next 3 days and hope to have some buck action. I am afraid the rut is about ended and bucks will be heavy feeding which stinks for me I do not have agriculture spots.

With a license 32 started at 16, also was out with my dad for the opener the two years before that. One year I missed opening morn first watch though. I killed a Big non typical last evening of bow and back then you had to go down and get your next tag in person. So Monday morning my butt was waiting for the DEC office to open on Erie Blvd. Then hauled myself to Tully to hunt.
