  1. I picked up a Bohning a couple years back. I got sick of paying stupid prices to the archery shop to touch up odd arrows. I now do mine and my two brothers and it is easy and satisfying to be doing it yourself. If you do limited amounts the Bohning is the ticket. If you are doing high volumes the Bitz that is more expensive and metal is probably the better bet.
  2. Went out yesterday with my 8 year old son for a bit over an hour. We got one and missed two. Shooting em this year with my Gamo pellt gun. I just parboil the back and legs like someone said above and pan fry or make a rabbit pie. mmm The place I hunt them is loaded with butternuts and man they are big and tasty!
  3. I use bore butter soley for the breach plug to keep it from freezing up and have had no issues. I do not use it in the barrel. May need to stop that.
  4. In the first two weeks of bow not likely I will be sitting all day. Usually just too warm and not a lot of movement. Around the last few days of Oct this picks up. Of course if it snows and starts sticking I will be out asap. It seems around here the first snow brings em out like school kids. And the of course the pre rut and rut. So I will sit for 3 hours or so and back in for the last 3 or so.
  5. From the opener through Nov 13th it is only a good buck. Hopefully 3.5 or older. Matters what spot I am hunting if I take a doe early or not but would like to get a doe. Makes waiting on a bigger buck easier if you have meat down and that is key to me. Meat over antlers.
  6. Typical 15 to 25 Longest 37 Shortest 3

  8. I know either people love em or hate em but I shoot the Rage 2 blade for 3 years now. I have had great results and huge wounds and blood trails from them.
  9. First part of bow no way and most likely not at all take him in bow unless I had exactly no venison and I was hunting one or two places I have that there is no way to run any kind of management. I probably would not take him during any season if I had some meat in the freezer. Unless he is a mature 4 year old say 240 on the hoof!! I let numerous small bucks pass during the season. I think last bow I passed on at least a dozen or so before I took a nice 9 point. A couple days later out bow hunting the same spot for a doe I had a true P&Y walk by me at 20 yards. Ug I hope to see him this year!
  10. Hello all! I am located in Central NY, Phoenix to be exact. I bow, shotgun, rifle and muzzle loader hunt for deer the most. Bow is my favorite. I hunt Phoenix, Baldwinsville, Tully, Caz and a few other places. Also have hunted the north country quite a bit. I also do a bit of fishing, mostly bass. And getting back into small game since I have two young children 8 and 10. I look forward to spending time here and helping each other out as we can and telling tales.
