I purchased a Cabela's heated vest. Best hunting investment I have made. I wait until I get cold to turn it. Doesn't take long to make me nice and toasty warm. The Battery lasts 2 hours on high so if you are warm enough until hour 3, you should be fine making it too hour 5. I purchased two extra batteries

I have never tried to stop a deer. I have never had the need too. They always seem to stop for me at a time when I can release an arrow or pull the trigger. I would try it if I had to but that hasn't happened yet....

My wife got me a Barnett Gamecrusher for Christmas. (she is mad at me because I found it in the trunk of her car) I told her I would like a Crossbow and gave her a few suggestions of cheaper crossbows. The guy at Dicks recommended this one and it was a Black Friday sale for $249.99 reg. $599.99. From what I have read the reviews are pretty good although it seems as though nobody paid the $600 dollar price. Seems a lot of people got them last year for $249.99 on Black Friday. A few people paid $399.99 which sounds like the regular price. Its 330FPS which seems pretty fast for a cheaper crossbow. Anyone have one or shoot one? I can't wait to try it....

I have a Remington 870 that I have a slug barrel on with a fixed 2.5X Leupold scope. It shot well and I killed deer with it. I haven't had that gun out of the gun safe since we switched to rifle. I used to have to tell myself over and over not to pull the gun in anticipation of the recoil. Don't even think about the recoil on my Browning BAR .308. I hope I never have to tote that 870 around the woods again....

Probably more than I should.....I will grunt and try the can when I see a deer that is to far out and not heading toward me. I will blindly call every hour or so if I am not seeing any action at all.....I had 5 point that I killed come in after I grunted and hit the rattle bag a few times blindly this year. I am still not sure if he came in to the noise or if he just was coming anyways. That is the only deer I have ever had show up after calling....

Back in my stand. Someone is using this stand when I am not here. Bow holder is all folded out. Shooting rail pad moved. Last week my trail cam was busted into and the photos were deleted. Hope it is still there. To dark to tell right now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone

For me, it depends. I have a DMP tag this year and I may not fill it at all. I got a doe and a 5pt during bow and a 8pt on opening day. Right now I am just glad my DMP tag is allowing me to enjoy the woods and hang out with the guys. There have been several years thought where I would gladly shoot a doe at 7:15 on opening morning....

I shot the buck I got opening day in the neck. I would normally shoot for the lungs/heart but the neck was the only shot I had and I was worried about him doing a 180 and hightailing it out of there. He dropped like a sack of potatoes.....

I agree that that buck would be a beauty next year.. That being said if I had a shot at him I would never find out.....Congrats on the new house....Good luck...

I left the camera, now I am wishing I took it with me. Won't be back till Thanksgiving morning. I guess my thought was if they didn't steal it they won't...Hope I am right....

That is awesome!!! I wish my daughter showed a little more interest. She has been out with me a couple of times and we haven't seen a thing so getting to not only see, but shoot your first time is awesome.

If you find something can you post it....I live in Ballston Spa as well.....I would love to not have to travel as far as I do and be able to go out in the evening during early bow....

I basically have to make my wife listen to my deer stories. I go over every detail no different than if I was telling one of my hunting buddies. I shot my best deer ever on Saturday and I started telling my wife. She said I have already heard it 10 times while you were telling it to everyone you called. To bad, you are going to hear it anyway...she rolls her eyes and listens...lol Do any of you guys have wives/significant others that look forward to your hunting stories?

One of the members in our club shot what he thought was going to be a nice 6 PT....Ended up being a half rack 3 because one side was completely broke off. He obviously had to tag that has a buck. In your case, yes, I would have tagged it as a doe.....

Thanks guys....Still have a doe tag.......At the moment I am planning on not filling it. At least I still get to enjoy the woods with that tag in my pocket. Brought the camera this morning. Didn't see a thing....
