  1. What do you guys use for a crossbow quiver? The quiver that came with my crossbow only holds 3 bolts. Last year, when I took a doe with the crossbow I hit her high and had to put a 2nd bolt in her from the treestand. I then spent the rest of the sit thinking if a big buck comes in and I happen to do the same thing I only have 1 bolt. I wasn't lucky enough to have that big buck come in but the next time I went hunting with the crossbow I used my compound quiver. (holds 5) The bolts fit so tightly that the were very hard to put in and take out. Now that I am back to my compound the arrows are looser in that quiver than I would like from squeezing bolts into it. I am wondering if I should just make that quiver my crossbow quiver and purchase a new quiver for my compound. Do they make a crossbow specific quiver? I have looked on the web and I don't see anything bolt specific.
  2. Do it!!! I am not sure if this is my 5th or 6th season but I wish I started way earlier. I am now disappointed when guns season starts. Better late than never I guess....
  3. I haven't forgotten my release but I did for get to put it on Sunday morning. I was watching a doe work her way around me and when she got to where I was watching her through my bow hanging I noticed my release was hanging on my bow....doh…..Glad it wasn't a shooter buck...
  4. I have a Cabela's heated vest. Looking at this one it looks like the battery and charger are exactly the same. I get cold trying to sit still even when it isn't very cold out. I had thermocell heated insoles as well but they were never that great and died last year. I just started using toe warmers and they work much better. Even with a heated vest and toe warmers I am always fighting the cold it seems. I can't remember ever leaving because of the cold but have spent a lot of time on stand not very comfortable.
  5. Burnt Rossman Hill in Schoharie......Remember like it was yesterday hunting with my Dad....
  6. Hey TF! Just read your story in the harvest thread! Great Job and congrats!
  7. Well I guess that doe would have gotten a pass even if I decided I wanted to sling an arrow. I just realized I never put my release on...duh. Glad it wasn't a shooter buck
  8. Big loan doe getting a pass and two others that I couldn't tell what they were.
  9. I coached my daughters soccer team until she got older and needed better coaching than I could provide. I loved it. She had ankle surgery in August. I miss watching her play as much as she misses playing. Enjoy it. They will be grown and gone before we know it!
  10. Why is every morning I have to go to work clear crisp and perfectly calm and then when I get to hunt I sit here swaying back and forth from the crazy wind
  11. Back in a tree, for sit 2. Let's see what happens. Good luck everyone!
  12. First sit for me. Just got in the stand. Sitting in some oaks on top of a ridge. Hopefully the deer will be looking for some acorns. I don't sit here very often so we will see what happens
  13. Back when it was shotgun only (where I hunted) My 870 broke 3 days before the season. I drove out to Ilion and they fixed it for me while I waited. I never called or asked. Just went on a wing and a prayer....
  14. Good luck to everyone that is out today. I am living through all of you. Hopefully I will be out this weekend. It is a complete downpour here at work which would be 5R
  15. Awesome!!! 1 down, hopefully many to come. Congrats on a beautiful buck!
  16. https://www.amazon.com/Summit-Archery-Products-Victory-Crossbow/dp/B077RNW2C2/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=crossbow+bolts&qid=1569521448&sr=8-6 I need some new bolts and want to get some with the lighted nocks already installed. Some of them are outrageous money. These don't seem to badly priced.
  17. Still have to wash my gear, pick up a new pack of broadheads and new bottle of wind checker. I won't be out until the weekend if the weather is decent.
  18. We have 5 tripod stands and so many ladder stands I can't count them all off my the top of my head. We added 3 this year and replaced an older uncomfortable one. Its almost here.....
