  1. Yes I have been in as early as 4:15 nice slow walk in I bring thermos of coffee and get set up decoys if being used that day and then sit back have coffee and enjoy the woods come alive with the birds singing and just get a feel for where the birds will come thru that day. No earlier than 4 tho unless hunting public land.
  2. Gonna pull the bow out determined to put some brown down with it this year

  3. Yep that figures in the woods not a damned bird to be heard or seen till 11:30 when we come back from brunch. Get back to camp for shits n giggles blow owl call and have 3 bird come out of woods at 12:01. Now that im not down at camp and working i see Gobbles 4 different times one of them almost met the front of my chevy at 45 would that still count as a hunt lol. Damn birds but thats what made me love turkey hunting nothing is a guarantee no matter how much you scout they throw u a curve ball.
  4. Turkey hunting is very difficult but at the same time so addicting and different from deer hunting. Which is why I love it !!!!! First year ever now hunting didn't see a damn deer but had a whole flock of turkey walk with in 5 yards of my tree stand and roost scared the bejesus out of me the next morning when I say back in my blind cause is sounded like someone driving a semi thru the woods. I've seen turkey drop down from Roost 5 days in a row and each day go different routes depending on the weather but came back to the roosting tree the same direction night in and night out.
  5. Seen a few cayotes running around lastnigight when we roosted them so I'm assuming that might have had something to do with them being bumped out.
  6. Roosted two last night got up and in woods by about 430 and they were gone already. Set up anyways on the pipe line and not a darn thing moving no gobbles or anything. Moved at about 930 talked with about 6 other guys out in the woods and all the same thing nothin talking nothing moving. Went n had breakfast at the local omelette place n all guys in there said same thing not a darn thing moving. Go back to camp go up to top of hill and blow owl call and 3-4 different gobbles. I get set up and they come strolling out at 1201 laughing at me. This Sunday will make up for it goin to springville and setting up on farm land pastures and hard wood setup.
  7. Just being in the general area and hope your on the path he's going to take that morning. I roostes 2 lastnight woke up and was in woods at 430 ish this morning and they were gona already. The birds were real quiet in allegany county this morning till a pit 1130. Good luck budd
  8. Not a darn thing all morning windy wit in again off again showers. Rooster two lastnight get up hit the spot at about 430 and they were down and gone. Go back to camp have breakfast and just for shits n giggle blow the old owl call at 1130 and hear 3 different gobbles. And they came in range at about 1201 that's my luck.
  9. Fields because they like open spaces that they can see better in and the insects that they done on will be abundant when it's raining also because they're tail feathers will not drag and get as wet on the underbrush and it's not as loud raining in fields. So I'm assuming pipeline cuts are a good spot to sit on during raining times??
  10. I have fired the body guard it is a nice pocket carry gun. It does take a little getting used to but havent had any issues other than the laser batteries died out really quick and then after reading up on it there was issues with the laser on it malfunctioning and casuing the batteries to explode but that was a few years ago so I am sure they took care of that issue. All in all smooth gun love shooting it except i had to correct my self when gripping the gun and shooting becasue it was a smaller gun I kept hitting the mag release. Other than that love it.
  11. I have the mouth calls already packed the last 3 years i have got good response back from mouth calls compared to other calls and gonna chalk the box call. I am gonna use my ground bling I received for christmas big enough to fit 2 ppl comfortably if its pouring out so I should be in good position in 9P area. Good luck to all who plan to head out not alot of turkey hunters in the area i hunt and i always feel as A bad day in the woods rain or not beats a good day at work.
  12. Well looks like rain for the opener. My plans are now going to be changed and not too sure how to handle this hoping they are loud n want to talk. What are some of your guy's tips for hunting turkey in the rain???
  13. I'm new to the page and just wanted to say hello. Getting geared up for the turkey opener this week. I have been hunting for 10 plus years and once I was turned onto bow hunting it was game over from there.
