Deer antlers - one side different than the other
nyantler replied to rj23nyr's topic in Deer Hunting
Could be an injury to the pedicle itself which would carry that difference throughout his life. If its a body injury that heals it will most likely correct itself next year. It is possible however that its just a genetic trait in his bloodline -
I'm starting to get how you came up with your screen name.

Don't care if he leans back, stands in front of the buck or takes the pic from 100 yards away... that's a huge buck!
-
I'm sure he scored it but didn't say... he's probaly waiting the 60 days for an official scaore.. but I think you're score is pretty close

I loaded the 2015 pic with the same file name as the 2014 pic by mistake and the program changed the 2014 pic... 2014 is the pic I put up a few posts ago. Thanks for bringing it to my attention... sorry for the mix-up.

If you're crazy.. I must be completely nuts. I will never own an inline muzzleloader... or shoot anything but patch & ball. Traditional stuff is what makes hunting fun for me.

Great catch!! and great photo as always

Easy to see it is not the same buck or the same pic

How Many 5.5 Year Old Bucks Have You Killed? (and older)
nyantler replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Deer Hunting
I meant that I have never killed a buck that I knew the age because I'd seen it in prior years and was able to age it... I have a few that might be 5.5 but without Cementum annuli analysis one can't know for sure... it would be just a guess. -
How Many 5.5 Year Old Bucks Have You Killed? (and older)
nyantler replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Deer Hunting
Never had one aged or killed a buck that I saw the year previous... I'm sure I have quite a few that are at least 3.5, but beyond that I can't be positive. -

They forgot the truck door slammer... the guy that slams the vehicle door shut when your trying to be quite entering the woods. I know a bunch of those guys.

Nobody allowed in camp that doesn't know how to have fun!

I know Charlie quite well, and although I believe that he is a good steward of deer management.. he first and foremost made and still makes a living photographing big whitetails and writing books about them. He saw an opportunity to get big bucks to photograph and a new topic to write about on his own property when the Avery deer farm went south around 1997. In fact he started his own little deer farm with a buck from Avery's that I believe he named David. I think maybe Charlie's motives were a bit different back then... He did have a lot to do however with the promotion and success of QDM.. not really sure how involved he is with the QDMA.

I must be a billionaire then... LMAO.. I have 2 suits and once owned a 1977 $4000 Mercedes!! ... I'm pretty sure a rich guy wouldn't be doing his own shopping at Country Max. Maybe he just had a job. I apologize, sometimes I just can't help myself.

I remember some of those bucks
-
How do you know he was rich?

I can't believe how many hunters I've come across that had no idea where the doe only areas were... some thought it was the whole State. I wonder how many will shoot a buck in those areas out of sheer ignorance.

I have a funny feeling that when the numbers are in at the end of the year the DEC will be surprised how their little plan didn't work... unless they fudge the numbers that is... nah, they wouldn't do that would they?

It changes every so many years... lately WNY seems to be the hot spot with long island areas right on their heals. Madison County is pretty good as well in CNY.
-
Yeah.. usually there, Monroe and Wayne have quite a few bucks posted by now... believe me those guys have had plenty to say about the doe only thing since Thursday. But still lots of nice bucks coming in from elsewhere

Can there ever really be too many sporting goods stores??? LOL The outdorrsmen population in the Victor/ Rochester area just may be big enough to sustain that many... not sure.
