  1. Be easier and better to just nuke the area causing the irritation. A doctor would treat the infected foot, not cut off the head. But you opened the can of worms, so I'll bet some will have something to say about freedom of speech and all that.
  2. I just took the screws out of the stock, and drilling won't work because the hole at the base is where the bolts go through to keep the stock on. I guess the mash mount is about the only feasible way to add the sling. Not a huge deal.
  3. I think that might be the best option, and had thought about going that route when I put the stock together. I don't feel like pulling the stock apart, but this is what the extension spacers look like inside. https://www.thordsencustoms.com/length-of-pull-extension-kit-black-for-frs-15-gen-iii/.html There wouldn't be much room for a nut, the hole near the bottom is fairly small. I planned on buying a set of the extensions anyway, as the LOP is fine, but another 1/2" would be more ideal for me.
  4. Here's a pic of the stock. They make an adapter that clips into the spacers, but it's designed for a loop through sling, but not a basic sling. I'm looking for a way to add a normal sling, not a tactical sling. The hand guards easy-peasy, just add rail mounted swivel. The butt-stock is what has me scratching my head. I mainly want the ability to add or remove the sling quickly while in the field.
  5. Anyone added a basic Uncle Mikes swivel stud to the Thordsen Gen 3 stock? They don't have the built-in stud ring, and the ones you can buy aren't for adding a basic sling with the UM's mounts. I had given some thought to putting the stud into the baseplate of the grip, but I don't feel it would be strong enough to hold it or the baseplate would just pop out unless I epoxy it in, defeating the purpose of having the storage in the handle.
  6. This is what happens when a scared, mindless baboon is elected into office here. We're seeing how all those "sanctions" are working out. I mentioned just the other day that something like this was coming. I also stated that the people who voted this guy in are just as much to blame.
  7. Glad your friend and his partner are OK. I heard a little about it on my local news this morning. I only caught part of the story, and they had mentioned that something needs to be done with bail reform and that it was letting criminals back on the streets. I was a little surprised, seeing the channel is pretty left sided and owned by Disney.
  8. I'm just curious if anyone here has used: Weapon Outfitters If so, was shipping fast? EDIT: I found my answer.
  9. Pretty much my thoughts. Patterning a fixed bead sight shouldn't take more than three shots. You can't make any adjustments, so one to see where the shot is hitting, and two more to make the adjustment with your aim and remember. A scope or adjustable iron sights will take more to dial it in. If you're flinching at the range, you'll probably flinch at the moment of truth. Dealing with recoil can be a pain if you don't like it, and the only way to know if you can deal with recoil is to shoot. That can be a problem for some people if they don't know anyone who can take them out for some practice, because if you buy a 10GA and it whollops you too much, you're instantly out money. The reasonable solution for a shotgun is a 20. Yes, they kick, but less than a basic pump 12, and far more practical than a .410 in my very humble opinion.
  10. Ugly guns need love too.
  11. The Matrix gets glitches, people who become anxious while shooting a heavy recoil firearm develop a flinch, jerking the trigger instead of squeezing it, leading to pulling the shot left or right but usually not up or down, thought I'd fathom a guess high or low might come into the equation. Even when sighting in, the actual shot should sort of surprise you due to slow and steady pressure on the trigger until the gun fires. I don't know many people who grab a half dozen boxes of 3 1/2" shells and think let's go shoot some skeet. Or 3" for that matter. Semi-auto shotguns will have less recoil than a pump, dblbbl, or single barrel. So is true that usually a heaver gun will absorb more recoil than a lighter one. The gas operated 12GA I just let go could be shot all day in a tee shirt and not be a big deal. The pump 20GA I have has more recoil, but it's sort of heavy, so it is highly tolerable. My single shot 20GA is light and has a pretty noticeable difference, especially with slugs and 3" shells. You don't feel the recoil when shooting at game due to adrenaline, but that recoil is still there whether we feel it or not. It's not like some magic fairy waves a wand, and it goes away. I'm not a big range guy anymore, I will go out and burn through a couple boxes of 22LR once in a while, but my deer rifles, shot guns, and even the ML don't see a lot of rounds run through them. I check to make sure things are still on point and that's about it. As fun as the newest rifle is to shoot, that won't get used to burn through boxes of ammo either.
  12. I'm not talking about having a wrestling match with the pup and face slamming it into the floor.
  13. The old method of rubbing their noses in the spot worked for both of my dogs. The new guy will go a little inside if he gets super excited, but he won't just pop a squat and pee in the house.
  14. Well, you know one because both of my AR’s are set up featureless.
  15. I'm still not climbing on the cry wagon of fraud. It's a dead horse and a serious moot point to even keep rehashing it because it's over and done with. Even if Biden was impeached or removed from office, Harris would take over which would be even worse. I will say this, and I'm not alone: If you voted for Biden you are responsible for the state of affairs right now because you put the ass jockey in office. War, food shortages and possible famine, and over the top inflation are solely on the shoulders of the Democrats. Biden's weakness and corruption have led to this point. The left should bow their heads in shame for the state they brought not just on America, but the other countries suffering due to the feeble-minded weak dick they made the leader of the free world.
  16. I love Franks. I've still not bought anything from the new place, but did plenty of business with them when they had the little place across from the game farm.
  17. I agree on the price thing. The only box store I found that had higher prices was Gander before they closed. I still bit the bullet (no pun intended) and paid $28 each for some #6 20GA when shelves were still pretty barren. I know a lot of people liked that place, but I wasn't a fan because of the prices.
  18. I put the Thorsden Gen III on the rifle. I actually like it. It's not the same as a full pistol grip, but it still makes the rifle handle well.
  19. I just buy the pants at Walmart, either Real Tree or Mossy Oak. I'll buy a few sizes up for layering in cold weather, and regular size for not worrying abut insulation. Last year about this time, I got camo pants on clearance for $5.
  20. I hear a lot of people saying the Runnings in Johnstown has been pretty well stocked for a long time on ammo and black powder supplies. Too much of a trek for me at almost two hours. I don't care much for F&S, but they have a decent enough supply on hand as well.
  21. No. When I sighted the rifle in, I only had the original mag that came with it present. Which is a Hera and worked fine. I took the other two out of the package and put them all in the safe when I was cleaning the rifle. When I was done, I just grabbed one and slid it back in. This morning I grabbed the rifle, a box of ammo and left. That's how I learned about the problem. Two of the three magazines will not stay in the rifle, one does and seeing the original was used and no problems it must be the two spares that are messed up. They are all the short 10 rounders. The one I bought today is the 10/20. I want to have a few of the shorts around for bench shooting. I'll have a look at the Lancers.
  22. I never actually got to hunt, I took the rounds back out of the magazine and came home. I wasn't in the greatest of moods at the time, so I didn't even bother trying to use the calls I put on the old phone, I didn't see much of a point to be honest. I grabbed a Magpul magazine a little while ago and that works fine. It might be the spring tension of the mag release, I'll have to have it looked at. But as soon as I have the extra cash, I'm just picking up a few more of the Magpuls. I sort of laughed at myself last deer season taking the ML out one morning and forgetting primers, but this morning pissed me off.
  23. Well, that sort of sucked. But, I did learn a valuable lesson. Don't skimp on AR mags! I got out, loaded the mag, put the mag in the rifle, and it fell out. I'll be exchanging the Hera's for some Magpuls ASAP! Yeah, yeah, I know, I should have checked them beforehand. The one that came with the rifle is OK, the two spares are garbage.
  24. Yeah, for tomorrow I'll just have to use the speaker on the phone. I wasn't driving back to Walmart tonight and I'll be going out way before they open in the AM.
  25. That's a great price on those turkey loads. The box I just traded ran me $24 when I bought it, but that was at a gun shop. Walmart had 7.62x51 ammo? I thought they weren't selling that and .223 anymore. I picked up a couple boxes of CCI 22LR Mini Mags a few weeks ago at $5 a box for 50. Probably the first time I've bought ammo in Wallyworld in a couple of years. They usually only have #7, 7 1/2, and 8 shot, so I don't bother even looking half the time. I've yet to see any ammo for my deer rifles in any of the 8 or so I have been too in the past 9 years.
