  1. Well, that sort of sucked. But, I did learn a valuable lesson. Don't skimp on AR mags! I got out, loaded the mag, put the mag in the rifle, and it fell out. I'll be exchanging the Hera's for some Magpuls ASAP! Yeah, yeah, I know, I should have checked them beforehand. The one that came with the rifle is OK, the two spares are garbage.
  2. Yeah, for tomorrow I'll just have to use the speaker on the phone. I wasn't driving back to Walmart tonight and I'll be going out way before they open in the AM.
  3. That's a great price on those turkey loads. The box I just traded ran me $24 when I bought it, but that was at a gun shop. Walmart had 7.62x51 ammo? I thought they weren't selling that and .223 anymore. I picked up a couple boxes of CCI 22LR Mini Mags a few weeks ago at $5 a box for 50. Probably the first time I've bought ammo in Wallyworld in a couple of years. They usually only have #7, 7 1/2, and 8 shot, so I don't bother even looking half the time. I've yet to see any ammo for my deer rifles in any of the 8 or so I have been too in the past 9 years.
  4. Thank you grampy. I never gave any thought about having a speaker, and I just got back from Walmart. I guess if I do head out, I'll just use the speaker on the phone for now.
  5. Thank you for the reply. I was pondering going out in the AM. Both of the areas I have in mind had a ton of coyote tracks all Winter while I out hunting squirrels and rabbits. They both had a lot of sign in years past, but it seemed this year they are growing in numbers. I'm itching to get out with the new rifle, tomorrow is the last day for yotes, so I might give it a shot for the heck of it.
  6. Anyone ever have any luck calling coyotes in using their phone with MP3's? I have my old phone and just downloaded a few MP3 distress calls and transferred them over.
  7. I went with a Thordsen Gen III and stayed featureless. The more I thought about it, the more I decided I wasn't locking the mag. If for some reason the rifle jams up and the bolt is pushed back into the buffer tube, I wanted to be able to get the magazine out before taking the rifle apart.
  8. Or more importantly, that those women only use Pink Muddy Girl camo. Because far be it that they wear guys camo while hunting. How dare they go into that realm!
  9. You can't delete posts. I'm referring to pictures we post. If you click on your profile image, you see a list and there's the area for "My Attachments", which is pictures or other things you have uploaded. We are only allowed like 780MB, so I try to delete images that don't need to be left up.
  10. That's sort of the point I'm getting at Bill, if we delete stuff to keep or make space in our allotted space, but it doesn't actually get deleted then it's sort of a moot point. I delete images from threads like sale items after they are no longer available, as well as delete pictures from threads that were deleted for what ever reasons. If they aren't actually getting deleted, then at some point there will be no space left for to post images unless we make an account with an image host and hot link the pictures here.
  11. That's some pretty awesome stuff. I wish I had the items you're looking for to donate. Seeing you're going to be teaching them things like leather working, do you plan to also teach any other more or less traditional skills that would fall into the dreaded "bushcraft" set? Like fire craft or even shelter building and learning to use a knife for making pot hangers, tent stakes, and other types of carving?
  12. When you deleted attachments from your profile area, it used to delete the pictures in posts as well. It sort of defeats the purpose of having a limit for space on how many images we can upload if, when we delete them, they don't actually go away.
  13. When you delete attachments, they aren't deleting from posts.
  14. Lock it up. Ammo was traded for a reflex sight.
  15. 12GA ammo. 108 rounds. Asking $50. Local sale only. Please don't muck up this thread with shipping chatter seeing I'm stating local sale only, thank you. Albany area willing to meet up in a reasonable driving distance.
  16. I've decided to set up in the meat isle of a few stores with one of those licknstick soft rubber toy guns. I'm almost guaranteed to fill a tag there. I won't even have to pluck it or breast it out.
  17. That gun is gone. I sold it and got my AR stock. Now, I just have to figure out what to do with the ammo as it wasn't part of the deal I made. Maybe trade it to my neighbor for a few boxes of .223. As for recoil, it's just part of the game with some calibers/gauges, so if I buy a gun that thumps, I live with it. The 12GA I just let go kicked less than both of the 20GA's I own. The older I get, the less I like a lot of recoil, but I wouldn't let that stop me from buying and using a gun. A 12GA with 2 3/4" #5 will kill a turkey just as dead as a 3 1/2" shell will. Has anyone asked a turkey how they feel about this whole thing? I bet they don't know the difference from 15 pellets in the head from a 2 3/4" or a 3 1/2" shell.
  18. Can you lock this up please @fasteddie? I think I'll try selling it elsewhere.
  19. Last call and going $325. That price is worth making a bit of a drive.
  20. You can, and I think the third time was just boosting post count while beating the dead horse. Sounds like another guy here. There should be no issue using steel shot and other shot in the same barrel.
  21. I wouldn't do it. Last year was the first time I set out a cam specifically for the deer season. I set it with just over a month to go, and left until the last day of the NZ regular season. I hunted the area I put the cam a few times, but I never checked it. I will say this, part of hunting for me is not knowing. I think I'd be more frustrated if I got a notification a bird was coming my way and not seeing it, then not seeing anything at all. It would be worse than getting an answer to calling only to have the bird go silent too, and that sucks. It's your hunt, do it your way. Who cares what anyone else says?
  22. So let me get this straight, a bipod is a legal mag lock? Geez man! If NYSP had just said that, it would have saved many of us some gray hairs and high blood pressure reduction.
  23. I have to run into Coxsackie tomorrow, seeing I'll be in the area anyone interested let me know, and I'll knock $30 off the asking price.
  24. I would just prefer to make any sale locally and not deal with shipping. Meet at the FFL, make the sale, and everyone heads home. Nice and easy.
