You sound just like a bunch of other people who liked to type. Years ago there was this little thing about Islambergh, a few folks stated if we didn't go and support this rally we were this or that. Ya know who showed up for that rally? NO ONE! Not one of those shit talkers did a damn thing. Bunch of Billy Badasses on a computer, when it came time to nut up or shut up, they chose to shut up. Some of them would drive by protests in cars taking pictures from a ways away and then report lies about how things really went down. Or posted lies from FaceBook about how things really went down. You talk a tough game, and I doubt you'd back any of it up with action. Especially if you have a family with very young kids. The reason most people aren't going to grab a firearm and go start a revolution is because they fear repercussions on what will happen to those kids, which is being selfless, and in many ways the right way of thinking. If push comes to shove gun owners will do what they must, but most aren't going to start a war, because of not only a risk of them and their families being killed, but because it would be classified as treason and that's one crime most people seriously don't want to commit. Too many people seem to think taking another human life will be easy, you know who else thinks like that? Mass shooters and terrorists. Think about that. You'll have some snarky comeback about me being a sheep or whatever, or supporting the left, which doesn't bother me coming from anyone who spews bile and like a hissing snake but has no bite. To the first part I agree. Which is funny because people won't buy from this place or that place because of policy, but have no problem dropping a $100 on jacked up ammo prices. It really seems silly to me. The last part, I hate to break it to you, but this shortage and the jacked up prices started due to a disease, all the crazies started prepping for the end of the world and buying up all the guns and ammo. It was not actually completely political, the left didn't create C19, but if that's your take on it so be it, I'll respect it as your opinion.

What brand of slugs were you looking for? Some of the top quality brands are a lot higher then that for a box of 5. They ran $20-40 long before any of this ammo shortage started. Decent sabots run from $18 and up per 5 on any given day. Almost everyone is price gouging on guns and ammo. I went up to see what all the fuss was about at the New Gander Outdoors last week. $20 per 25 for #6 Remington steel shot is a bit high, so I grabbed a box of Federal for $10 which was still $4 higher then a normal. I called Guns Inc. a couple months ago looking for Federal basic lead 20GA #4 and #6. Was told they had both and were $30 a box for 25. I couldn't help but actually laugh at the guy. The only place I found Fairly close to me that seems to be keeping their prices normal is American Shooter Supply. These shops who are over pricing aren't going to stop, they are taking advantage of the situation and as long as people keep paying the prices they aren't going to come down.

I'll just keep this simple, a bow does not have a scope or a gun stock, if it has those features, its a gun. All be it a gun that shoots an arrow, still a gun. As for my post, perhaps I miss-worded it, or perhaps like others you just read into things what you want and miss the point. Yes, I did say lazy people. How many people have stated they would get into "archery" if they could use a crossbow for the whole season? How many of those have also stated it's because of how easy they are to tune and set up? That they don't want the hassle of shooting a vertical bow often to get proficient? I won't even go into the thought process being pushed that leads some to think they are going to get so much more yardage from a crossbow. Yep, if it walks and quacks like a duck......... My personal opinion on the whole matter has changed. From what I consider them to be, to some of the problems full inclusion will bring. Also after listening to people who are against it explain their reasons. I say this over and over and over and over, I try to look at the big picture. Trust me when I say this- I am no elitist bow hunter! If anything, adding full inclusion will cater to the elitist gun hunters. Think about that for a little while, seriously think about it. Let it sink in.

Thank You. That's my 301 Stevens Savage 20GA with the Gobble Stopper scope. That pic was from this past deer season. I may take you up on that. I haven't committed to the project yet, but I'm giving it some very serious thought. From what I read the biggest issue will be setting/seating the slate ( example ) in the pot to get proper sound from the chamber. I figure if I buy a premade pot that already has the proper cut for the slate ( example ), I can carve it out some to lower it, or if I have to raise it a bit some paper micarta cut to a ring might work. Drilling the holes for the sound seems like the easiest part.

It doesn't, I did not even say or hint at that. I said I was not for inclusion for people who are too lazy to use a real bow. I also said I didn't have an issue with those who can't physically use a regular bow to have full inclusion. No, I did not use see through mounts, I used the rail that came with the gun. I did not remove the front blade iron sight. My 301 is a smaller framed single shot, so the scope seems big on it. But a normal size pump or semi it will look fine. I couldn't honestly see a valid reason to be able to see the base sight on the gun using a red dot with not magnification. There really isn't a need for both. Leaving your sights on should not interfere with the scope though.

I used to be on board for full inclusion, not anymore. It was bad enough last deer season on public land during the gun season with over populated areas. Add the cross bow into the main archery season and I may as well stay home because odd are I won't have a place to hunt in the SZ because all the people who just want the easy way into the bow season will be out in hordes. I'm all for those with a disability having full inclusion, but not every tome dick and harry anymore.

I have it set up with a nice pattern from 3" Winchester Double X Turkey Load #4 shot. I also have it dialed in to group slugs inside 4" at 75 yards. I've put probably 40 rounds downrange with the scope and it stays sighted with the shotgun recoil.

I got into building custom knives from blade blanks and found I enjoy doing it. That got me to thinking about making my own turkey calls. Found a place that sells the materials. From different slate, glass, metal, and even some ceramic to the actual pots. They even sell striker materials and the handles. So I may order the stuff to make one and give it a try this Spring. Anyone ever done this? I'm talking pot calls, not wing-bone or boxes, not push calls. Pot calls.

It's a possible law/amendment to gun rights, which are political. If your "buddy" had an issue buying a gun because the place said there was a new law about a middle name being required that constitutes an um, LAW or regulation on firearms, and let me say this again, a bit more clearly: That makes the topic political. Also, as stated by two other people, you even posted the word LAW in your topic title. So there's that.

Well this made it political, even though it was from the beginning. This DOES belong in the "Guns And Hunting Laws Political Discussions" area, it's not general chit chat, so I agree with @BowmanMike this isn't where it belongs. I would call an actual gun shop to get the skinny, box store employees rarely know their @$$ from a hole in the ground.

When I had a truck, I slept in it a few times. Piece of old carpet and a foam pad to keep the ribs of the bed liner from making it painful. Backseat of a car a few times, as well as the back of a station wagon. Ah, the good old days...... I prefer a tent and a cot these days and planning things out better. Been thinking of a hunting trip to VT for maybe 2022 or 23. A couple places I'm looking at have lean-to's which would give a dry place to sit and keep items like coolers under in bad weather, but the plan is to sleep in a tent. There was a thought of renting a van but, it would be a waste of money when I have perfectly good tents and sleeping gear.

Well, there's a few options here.... Keep a bucket next to your chair. Put a TV in your bathroom. Don't watch the jackass on TV. Easy fix for that illness.

You can't explain that to some people. On average there are are 5-7 does birthed each Spring to 1 buck. When those numbers go unchecked you get way more does then bucks. That's anywhere. When you think about how most people really don't hunt the eastern ADK's much farther then lake George, the numbers are going to be a lot different the further north you go and the less pressure they get. Also the further north you go the less factual data there is on deer numbers because there's less people around to do the DEC's job for them and report activity. Once the deep snow hits the deer move where food is more accessible. There are a whole lot of areas up north that are more piney type woods, where there just isn't enough natural mast for the deer to stick around. It's like people, when the cupboards get low and the freezer empty, we go get more food. But, it is what it is.

Hunting from the ground adds a few unique challenges that the tree surfers don't have as bad. You need some sort of cover, a man made brush blind, a store bought blind ( unless you can leave the pop-up/hub blind out there they are a PITA to carry in set up and carry out for every hunt. ). At minimum you have to set up tucked into some brushy cover making sure you have room enough to twist and draw the bow. A few years ago I was tucked back into some brushy stuff and when I drew on a doe my elbow hit and snapped a dead twig, it sounded like a gun going off to me and the doe bolted like that's what she heard too. I was pissed off at myself because I knew better, but didn't take the time to completely make sure I could draw. Now I pile up some dead branches in front of those small openings and make damn sure I can move a little and be able to draw with room to spare.

They are yarded up way before that. They are yarded up in some areas by the early ML season. I highly doubt it will "destroy" the herds. The doe to buck ratio in most of the areas where the highest population hunt are highly out of whack. DMP's being allowed every few years would not hurt the deer population in the ADK's.

My balls are titanium and the sack is kevlar. So yes, I have and still do on occasion shoot in my home. Refused to be one of those "I don't have anyplace to shoot my bow." squawkers. I don't shoot towards any windows and have a good backstop of a wood door, so anything bad that could happen shooting an arrow down my hall can in a basement just the same. At max I can get almost 18 yards. As for the original question: Nah! You haven't lost it @cynthiafu, you caught the bug.

Little bit of a sore topic right now, not sore in angry, just a bit of sadness and unknowing. With our pup being in the condition she's in our annual trip might not happen this year. Have to put the pup first and any large spending second right now. Plus, depending on how fast the cancer spreads she may not be able to make the trip. Fall is a long ways off. So right now I have no plans. Maybe getting in better shape. I'll be getting a weekend of turkey hunting in the big woods this Spring, a first for me hunting gobblers in the true big woods. Looking forward to the experience and expecting nothing.

2K? I could get 3-4 for that on a normal day. These days, one might get a couple boxes of ammo for that. Lets see....... An AR15 in .223 for my wife. For me? A bolt action with a wood stock! I love the guns I own, but I want some walnut in the mix. Most likely in either 7MM Mag or .270.
