  1. not seeing much- small spikes and does.  was seeing all kinds of bucks cruising right up to last day of bow.  All ive seen since is one small spike  pencil thin about 2.5 inches high.  he is entertaining but I wanna see his dad or big bro.

  2. I dont get some "hunters"  rationale.  At least once every season I find a dead deer in the woods on public land.  Usually its a doe or small spike.  I understand people can lose a deer bowhunting.  But this is gun season.  it seems like they make no effort to recover the deer.

  3. in my area 4r-4g  its a blue shortbox chevy 2wd with rims and a not too loud exhaust.  he usually fills his tag and his wifes out the window.  then he brags what a great buck hunter he is at all the local bars.  everyone knows he does it - no one can prove it.  I'm getting sick of it.  I think next year I might follow him around on thanksgiving cuz that seems to be his favorite poaching day.

  4. I had someone give me one recently.  Was wondering if anyone has used this. Should this be hung over a real scrape or a mock scrape?    Just wondering cuz there are scrapes all around my stand.  Thought about tryin it out.

  5. My first 8pt buck was pretty xciting  I rattled him in at 9 on opening morn and he came in hot. It was shotgunn here then (4G) I missed him with the first shot- he was running it must have come close because he skidded to a stop.  I jacked another slug in and dropped him in his tracks.  He is my first "trophy" and I got him mounted.  My friends and brother were with me that day and that makes it memorable.  But last weekend I got a new "best memory"  my good friend Who I got into bow hunting shot his first buck with a bow.  It was a small spike witha big body and it walked under my stand and I let it go then it made its way down to him and he smoked it.  The smile onhis face when I Walked out to him was priceless.  I felt  so happy and proud for him.

  6. They are pretty abundant here in the catskills. A friend at work traps and he's been catching quite a few the last couple years.  Ive seen them before he skinned em and they are a very cool animal. and they are tough s.o.b. s

  7. I wont use estrous/ buck lure until early nov. mybe halloween. As for the trophy leafs I always laughed at them too, but last season halfway thru rifle I ran out of tinks. On the way to go out hunting I stopped at an agwy to pick up more.  Of course their inventory was well picked over by that time and the only thing close was the leafs.  I put them out that aft. and had a spike and a 4pt. pay real close attention to them. came right to them.  they do seem to recharge too.  I would use them again.

  8. the worst part of it is if they take these untested bows out and wound a deer, they wont spend much time looking for it.  I heard a couple of this type of "hunter" on radios opening day of rifle season 2 years ago.  The first says he just shot at a spike buck and the second asks if he got it.  No I missed he said it didnt drop.  I listened to the rest of their conversation and no mention was made of looking for blood/hair etc.  The talk was about when they were meeting for breakfast.
