  1. That's a great idea Al ! never thought to re-sharpen a replaceable blade. But it makes perfect sense to do it. I actually enjoy sharpening my knives. So why not these too?
  2. I'm a long time member here. But also a member of NY Woods and Water. I do both because I like both. Most members here are great people. I've made lifelong friends from this forum. As well as from NYW&W. I will continue to be a member here as long as I'm able. I have no ill will towards anyone. Here or there. And hope to contribute to both. I don't see it as a competition between forums at all. Everyone should feel free to do whatever they want. And not degrade one place or the other. We all have many varied interests, as individuals. That's what makes us all who we are. Sharing those interests with others, should not be limited to one place or another. It's all good!
  3. Tactacam Gen 2. They are awesome! PM me and I can steer you towards a great deal. I know a guy.
  4. As mowin said, the deer will be here waiting when you return. Best of luck to you and your nephew out in Illinois!!
  5. If that monster is close, I'd keep a sharp eye out for him!!! Good luck!!!
  6. Took me forever to get out of that nasty pine thicket! I cried with relief when I finally found my way out!!!
  7. Bucks are ready! But the majority of the doe won't be ready until November. But......I have seen hard chasing in October. My guess is that usually it's an older doe, building up the mating hormones a bit early. She may not stand for breeding, but the bucks smell that she may be close? Even though she may be couple weeks away? Just my take on it. I am no biologist. As said above, I have never seen fawns in April.
  8. No. The same form. On it, it also says something about the Americans with Disabilities Act. You can tell your doctor that you are too weak to pull your bow back! (I know someone who used that!) The form doesn't ask for any diagnosis from your doctor. And DEC does not care about one either. You could be completely healthy, and tell your doctor you have a sore shoulder, elbow, wrist, or something? And get a temporary one, no problem. With no diagnosis needed, the doctor is not under any legal implications to sign the form. As I stated before, the DEC has been wanting to take control of the crossbow issue, for the last few years. They see it as another management tool. Rightfully so in my opinion. But NY Bowhunters, and their lobbyists, convince know nothing lawmakers to not even bring full inclusion to the floor for a vote. This new form, in conjunction with DEC, the ADA and NY Crossbow Coalition, is the end around the know nothing lawmakers. The numbers are not yet posted of the hunters who have taken advantage of this new form. But in the end no doubt it will be thousands. This number will be used in the legislation next year to show that the sky didn't fall. And DEC managed the issue just fine. To hopefully give DEC and NY hunters the full inclusion they have been wanting. This is not a bow vs crossbow thing. Simply just a choice, for those who want to use a crossbow in NY.
  9. I have many large bins where everything is separated according to base, medium and outside layers. All gets washed in scent free soap. And sprayed with Permethrin. I don't go crazy with scent control. As Al said above, there is nothing you can do to beat a deers nose. But.....I don't want to smell like an old goat either.
  10. It's not just shoulder issues that qualify. It could be diabetes, blood pressure, or a host of other things covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. DEC wants crossbow included in the archery season. This new form is a way around the lame, know nothing, lawmakers, that should have passed full inclusion years ago. Good to see a NY entity, actually do something for hunters and sportsmen.
  11. I too sent in the form and received a permit to use an unmodified crossbow in regular archery season. Mine is permanent and good for five years.
  12. My prediction is that your luck will change BIG time this year!!! Get that gadget ready!! I will use it too, on the first deer I get down this year. You guy's have sold me!
  13. I was given one a few years ago. Guess I should try it?? Old habits are hard to break.
  14. By Monday the daytime temps will drop 30 degrees. Better hunting next week. Now is a good time to catch up on that to do list!
  15. Great looking bike!!! Been a long time since I sold my last one. I'm retiring next year too. Perhaps I'll get back in the saddle again???
  16. My guess would be, you have brakes not releasing all the way, and dragging slightly on the rotor or drum?
  17. You had a great hunt Eddie! Just being out there with your son was worth the drive. I agree, this week probably won't be best for deer hunting. But it's still early. You'll have better opportunities once it cools down a bit. Wishing you a fun, and successful season sir.
  18. You're nothing more than POS jizz jerker, and a keyboard Poser, that is likely a very poor hunter. You have to come on a forum to boast about how good you are??? How many forum members can vouch to hunting with you??? NONE! Because you do little of it, and it would expose you for what you are. You just do what the controlling partners of the deer farm tell you to do. You're just a "hand"dy man there in truth. The only one who keeps stirring the shit pot here is YOU mayor. In all the years I've been a member here, I always knew you for what you REALLY are. A sad little man, that needs to build himself up with a keyboard. While putting down others to feel good about yourself. Some things never change. If you just went away from here, no one would miss you. I can guarantee you that!!
  19. That's a real nice crossbow! Good luck this season!
  20. The crank really does make it much easier. Is yours one of the new silent ones? Or is it like the one I have that clicks?
  21. wooly went through some life changing events. Does not have good internet connection where he is now. So does not post to this, or any other forum that I am aware of. Sure do miss him. I will always call him my friend.
  22. He's just buttering you up!!! And trying to get on your good side! Smart deer!
  23. Great advice as always Al.
