  1. I sat until 10 and saw nothing, not much shooting. I get halfway down my tree and a deer blows right under me and takes off. 2 does snuck in the back through the short pines and must've watched me climb halfway down before they blew... Just my luck... Saw a coyote blast through on my walk out. Off to another spot to sit til dark. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  2. Better pack some TP!! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  3. How does it shoot? I've been on the fence about getting a CA rifle for years now. The reviews are a bit scattered though. I don't want to drop $2k on a rifle to shoot 2" groups! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  4. Browning ABolt in 25WSSM and a Ruger 357 mag. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  5. I like the looks of the Glock 10mm long slide with an RMR red dot. It's not going to necessarily replace my rifle, but for up close shots I'd like to have a pistol available. I have pistols now that kind of fit that bill, but it's been awhile since I've bought a new pistol... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  6. I'm actually considering picking up a 10 mm auto with a red dot for hunting. My redhawk 44 is nice but a bit bulky when also carrying my rifle. I've got a security six in 357 also which shoots really well. Probably as much looking for another excuse to buy a new toy! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  7. Well that was short lived. Wind was ripping at 25mph, snow on and off and cams have been real quiet. I'm heading out, don't feel like sitting in this cold wind when the deer don't seem to be moving much. Time to get things ready for tomorrow. Had my best and worst archery season, let deer walk I should've shot and messed up a great opportunity. Saw 30 +/- bucks and didn't even punch a buck tag. My hopes for gun season are pretty low. I'd like to get one more deer this year, 2 would be nice but the way things have been going lately I'll settle for 1. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  8. 5 of my cell cams were too. Even with deer locking down it still seems way slower than it should be this time of year. I didn't even go out this morning, between rain and being slow. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  9. Good luck! I'm currently keeping an eye out to for Cayuga/Wayne county. Slim pickings and the ones you do find are really expensive. We may be losing ours after this season due to the farmer selling which is going to really suck. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  10. I'm hunting state land down in 7M. I've done decent down there but odds aren't great of seeing a good buck. My odds are higher on the lease but it's a tradition that started when I was 16 with my father and brother. My father is getting up there in age and spending the day hunting with them outweighs my odds of success. I'm off for 12 days after tonight, hoping to fill 1 tag during that time. 11. I grew up in the northern rifle zone so I've always had a "thing" for rifles. Plus I used to sell firearms so I got some amazing deals through the vendors over the years. Of course I have a favorite rifle so usually that one gets the most woods time, not to jinx myself, but I've never missed a single deer with that gun. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  12. I've seen good things from them, but I'd still never choose one over a rifle in any scenario. If I hunted shotgun areas more often I'd buy a 220, but the few times a year I do, my muzzleloader is my gun of choice. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  13. Yes, as soon as you possess the components to fire, it needs to be on your permit. If I remember right you just need to take your sales receipt to the pistol office to have it added. Other than that they'll deliver right to your front door. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  14. I too love Spitfires, best head I've ever used. They aren't going to perform miracles, but every deer I've hit where I was supposed to has died in sight. There's a reason they've been around so long and have changed very little. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  15. I hate slug hunting. Just because it's a big chunk of lead doesn't mean any more efficiency in killing power. I've seen a lot of deer lost with slugs, due to a variety of reasons. The reasons I hate them, is accuracy is shit generally speaking compared to rifles, they drop quickly, limited range, heavy recoil, heavier guns typically. I'd be happy if I never slug gun hunted again. I'll gladly choose a muzzleloader over a slug gun and I do. Thankfully all of the areas I primarily hunt are rifle now. 16. One BB came by, and heard a deer trotting through water in the swamp. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to last. I don't have high hopes. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  17. In case you need reminding, don't shoot them in the hips with that grenade launcher. But if you do, give it to Wolc, he needs it for research purposes... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  18. I'm in. Hit a big grey fox on the way here, poor dude. Saw some deer too so hopefully they're moving better. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  19. 20-30' for me. I hate hunting low, I'll go as high as I need to, to avoid being seen but still have a decent shot angle. I've probably been 35-40' before during rifle season over brushlots. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  20. Of course, after I leave... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  21. I'd wait more than a couple of hours. You won't have a good trail to follow anyways now. It'll probably die in it's first bed but if you bump it, with rain especially, you will make it 10x harder. I'd wait a minimum of 6-8 hours. You killed it for sure, finding it will be dependent on your next steps. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  22. Doe and a fawn milled around for 45 minutes this morning. Nothing since. No rain which is nice. Cams have been pretty slow the last week. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  23. I would say at least you don't have to drag that mule. His neck looks like a barrel. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  24. We're experiencing the same in our part of 8f also. It went from bucks running everywhere all day chasing does, to all day sits and one doe/fawn seen. Very little cam activity, little to no deer seen from stand. Very random movement that's tough to predict or pattern. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
