  1. Last response. Have you ever heard the term "quality over quantity"? Would you rather go to a lake and catch 10" bass all day, or a different lake and catch 18" bass all day? What if I told you that the bass fishing in the 18" lake was strictly managed for quality fish? There were slot sizes for keeping fish. Are you still going to say you'd rather fish the 10" lake?? If you haven't gotten anything out of what I said up to this point then you won't. I guess if I could hope to get one point across to you it would be this: I want a change in season structure to appease myself and to ultimately give every hunter more opportunities at larger deer. You call that selfish. But don't for one second believe that because you say everyone should be able to shoot what they want and always wanting more seasons, more implements etc, that you aren't also being selfish. It works both ways. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  2. Of course it would appease me. The same way it would appease you if they added on even more season. And you're right, I don't care about every Time, Dick or Harry's feelings. I care about the deer. I like deer more than I like most people. I'm not ashamed to admit it. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  3. The season should never be setup to appease the hunters desires. Management is just that, it's for the health of the herd, period. So the fact that people are limited on time should not be a concern for the states management. To put it bluntly, I don't care about "cousin Eddie's woes" as to why he can't hunt this or that weekend. You make do with what you have. Noone gets to hunt as much as they wish they could, that's life. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  4. So do you think the average hunter in NY is happier with a big buck? Or a small one? If there were 2 bucks in a field, one big, one small. Which do you kill? You stated that "it's great" when you kill a big one. You do realize that a season restructure and overall better deer herd would lead to more opportunities at "the big one" for everyone right? You can stand on a pedestal and say a lot of people don't care about antlers but we all know that's false about 98% of the time. Hunters are happier with the bigger deer. There's a reason taxidermists stay busy all year, and it's not because people like small deer. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  5. So it appears you do in fact favor large bucks. Why is that? Why does someone who favors older age class deer so opposed to QDM? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  6. You should probably stop while you're not ahead. Grammar and the use of punctuation are a pet peeve of mine, so pardon me if I don't argue statistics with people who don't/can't form a complete sentence. When I have to re-read every line of your post to try to figure out what you're trying to say, it takes away from the argument altogether. Riddle me this: Have you ever killed a "big" buck? If you had access to property with mature deer, would you still shoot little bucks? Do you have any deer mounted? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  7. Exactly. What if someone handed an ordinary citizen a firearm in which you pointed it at someone and shot them? That's as cut and dry of a case as I've ever seen. Accident/negligence/ignorance... You'd still be responsible for killing someone. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  8. A) it doesn't happen everyday. it's a big deal because you have a rich idiot spouting off against guns yet has no problem playing with them for his own profit and then shoots someone because of HIS OWN negligence, noone else's, and yet it's still someone else's fault. 9. Your version of smart and others may vary. If the threshold for intelligence is now centered around a vaccine choice that's a pitiful thing. The biggest difference in "you" and "us" is I don't give a crap if you're vaccinated or not, but the liberal bible must state that you put your nose in everyone else's affairs and give mandates as if your some higher power or intelligence (or anyone has to give a damn about your opinions). 10. I had the same thing last week. My wife and I were exposed. They called my wife the next day, and didn't contact me for an additional 4 days. So I was called 5 days later even though they were given my information that next day. It's all a crock... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  11. Possibly a 6th and 7th. Oh, and maybe a different vaccine for a new strain... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  12. Yea I saw that now. Sorry, I got you and Paula confused! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  13. Beaver stir fry! Love it! What's the flavor/consistency? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  14. So... If testing is necessary for unvaxxed, yet vaxxed people still get and spread the virus as well, why no testing unless symptomatic? Does that make any sense? Other than giving the public and vaxxed people reason to believe that their vaccine is actually doing something. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  15. I could be? Now you've got me wondering!? If I remembered the wrong person my bad! Carry on! Good luck getting the buck @cynthiafu Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  16. There may be circumstances that I'm not aware in her case? Just making sure she understands the laws if not... But I know she already posted that she killed a buck opening day so I'm not sure how she could kill another until late season with the proper tags. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  17. Didn't you already kill a buck? Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  18. I can see how unvaxxed are higher. For example: at work if you come into contact with a positive person, you get taken out of work for a quarantine period and have to be tested in order to return. People who are vaccinated don't have to do anything, only monitor for symptoms. So essentially they are free to continue spreading the virus without quarantine or testing. Explain that to me... 19. Is that the Montec head or another G5 model? That's as much blood as I saw in all of my tracks combined. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  20. Not sure. They never felt razor sharp from the package and even G5's own sharpener didn't seem to get them sharp sharp. I wanted them to be my "forever" head because they flew great, solid one piece, in theory should've been easy to sharpen/reuse. Not to be. I'll never use them again. 21. There's a reason you don't see people flocking to NY to buy deer tags. NY has the capability of producing the same type deer that the Midwest does but we're stuck behind the times. Anytime you bring this conversation up the opponents always jump to talking about trophy hunting. QDM isn't about trophy deer. It's about overall herd health, sustainability and more diverse age classes of deer. Now, with that the trophies are benefiting also, yes. The biggest common denominator for people who oppose antler restrictions is the fact that the vast majority of those people have never killed a big buck. That's a tough piece of truth for a lot of people to swallow. What they don't understand is that with a shorter gun season you will have more deer, therefore negating the need to have to rifle hunt for 4-5 weeks in order to shoot a deer or two. You will also have a much longer archery season. I know, I know (whiney voice inserted) "well we don't all archery hunt, you're just an elitist bowhunters." Why is that dictating what's healthy for the herd? I do not take offense to someone calling me an elitist bowhunters because at least I know where I stand. Me wanting more archery season is no different than you whining that you want longer gun seasons and more implements added. Life's not fair and noone is stopping you from archery hunting. Pick up a bow and join or don't. Especially now that you can crossbow hunt during the best part of the season. The spots we've hunted (public land) for the last 20 years have seen a drastic decrease in deer, especially since rifles were allowed. It's simple math, you add more effective weapons into the season but don't decrease it's length, deer numbers will suffer. To Trial's point, the people who speak so vehemently against change have never experienced truly great hunting. They've hunted the same piece of land, shooting the same type of deer their entire lives, they know no better. Feel free to fire away. I'll respond if I get time or see fit. 22. That's not entirely true. Let's face it, some broadhead are better than others. I've used the heads he did and even with perfect shots there was little to no blood. There's something with the Montecs that allow for almost no blood. A Google search will reveal all you need to know. Will they still kill the deer? Absolutely, but they can be hard to find with a sparse to no trail. I shot 4 or 5 deer with the G5 and had terrible blood trails on every one of them. One buck went down in 75 yds but there was zero blood, even where he layed dead. I don't pretend to know why, but I know what I see. G5 Montecs suck for blood trails. 24. I'd wait for sure. Being that you jumped him it's highly unlikely you got both lungs. I've shot 2 deer and saw the perfect hits and saw both deer drop. But if I had gone off of arrow sign it would appear as straight guts, no guts were even remotely touched on either shot. Sometimes you can cut straight through the esophagus low in the chest and it'll leave the arrow covered in food/gut appearance. One doe I double lunged this year and watched her drop in less than 6 seconds. But as mentioned, my arrow had almost no blood on it, all good matter. But in your scenario I'd wait. If he's dead now he'll be dead later too. I'll attach a pic of my arrow this year below just for reference. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  25. There are a ton of better options in my opinion. Ramcats, Slick Tricks, Magnus, Muzzy etc. I had great experiences with Ramcats. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
