  1. I guess settled was the wrong term to use! I don't need another bow but if one felt right and had the specs I wanted I knew I'd probably buy it. The tougher question is do I keep 3 compounds or sell one of my current two? Haha Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  2. I went and shot some bows that interested me spec wise a couple of weeks ago. I ended up settling on the Elite Era Carbon. I added Elites 6 arrow quiver as well. Sadly I won't get it until June but excited nonetheless. Great feeling bow with what is inarguably the most tuneable features of any bow I've seen. It's not cheap, but I set out to build the bow I wanted this year, regardless of price. I bought Victory RIP XV arrows, which are the lightest, yet stiffest arrow I found, in order to try a 17% FOC setup with Magnus Black Hornets. Total arrow setup should be 510 grains roughly. I also grabbed some 100 grain inserts from Ethics Archery to boost FOC. I bought a left helical jig and AAE hybrid 2.7" vanes. As for the sight... I bought a Spott Hogg Fast Eddie XL and removed the sight housing, and bought an Ultraview UV3 XL scope housing in a stacked 2 pin configuration. If you haven't seen these housings check them out, really cool and customizable. Again, not cheap but it is what it is. I'm already excited for the upcoming year and to put this bow through the paces this summer. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  3. If donating some hunting items to you would help you get back into the woods I'm sure I can part with some extras I've accumulated over the years? I can only imagine losing everything. Let me know if that would help you get back to hunting a bit sooner, I'd be happy to see what I could send to you. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  4. Put about 9 miles on the last two days, one deadhead spike was all I found. Most bucks are still holding for us too. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  5. #2 today. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  6. I love 25's, best deer caliber I've ever owned. I tried finding a Tikka in 25-06 last spring but couldn't so I settled for a 270 Tikka T3X Lite Roughtech. If you want the best of both worlds you can find a 25WSSM, which is a super short action caliber but the ballistics are identical to the 25-06. I have one and it's the last gun I'd sell for deer. Ammo can be tricky at times to find but what isn't anymore. Plus it's a pretty unique caliber. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  7. I put 5.5 miles in last week, found one dandy shed, bumped several bucks still holding. Going to wait until February to go back to that spot. Going to go out this afternoon for a few hours close to home. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  8. Have a couple of bucks on cam missing a side so I went for a look today. Saw a pile of deer, several bucks with both sides, including the biggest buck I've ever seen in the woods at 30 yds. Found one freshie. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  9. One thing I see that may have made a difference. I know for the muzzleloaders I have owned, the first shot through a completely clean bore is always off by like 4-5". The next shot is right where it's supposed to be. If you didn't shoot your gun at least once before hunting for the season this could very well have contributed. 10. Looks good, I just finished up mine too. Now onto my buddy's bucks... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  11. No, out at Montezuma Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  12. Did 2 public land drives today, we got 2 does and an 8 out of the first drive. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  13. Another example on our lease, pic taken yesterday. Most areas in NY with some exceptions have giant potential if they can live long enough. Hopefully more and more people get behind this as everyone benefits long term. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  14. I do that once or twice a season. If I'm not feeling it for whatever reason I just don't go. Usually I force myself to get moving then I'm good for the day. Usually my excuse is I'm exhausted, which I am a lot during deer season. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  15. I see a different deer. One buck has a 1.5" brow, the other a 5". Shape of the rack also appears different. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  16. Im seeing a gross 130-135. Long 2's, good 3's, some width, ok mass. A single pic can be hard to judge from sometimes. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  17. Sounds interesting enough to give a try. Thanks for posting the recipe! Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  18. I also have the 30" masterbuilt. It works good, I had to replace the heating element once but it's a decent smoker, I believe I got it on sale for $180. Hard to go wrong for that price. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  19. Perfect gutting position haha Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  20. Here's the MIA 10, he was in daylight Friday morning, I got him every night, multiple times. Im really hoping he makes it past everyone, with another year I think he could explode. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  21. I'm really hoping he shows back up soon. I'm not holding my breath though. The 10 hasn't shown up since the last day of archery either. I had a feeling both of those bucks were in trouble, they were traveling too much for their own food, I was getting them both multiple times a night. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  22. 4 does and a spike tonight. I'm pretty sure my big 8 is dead now also. Heard a shot up the road, as I drove past they were loading a real big 8 into a truck. This was him, I'm hoping it's a different buck but I have doubts. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  23. Wasn't in the stand 45 minutes and I saw a little buck run behind me, then I saw he was chasing a doe that I never saw. They did a big loop back into the thicket, they came back out about 10 minutes later and she came to 30yds on field edge so I decided to break in my new rifle. She went 25 yds and tipped over. Drove the truck right to her. Home and skinned by dark. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  24. Doe down Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
  25. I'll second that. I have a hard time staying motivated during gun season anyhow. Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk
