I just ordered the millennium M100u hang on from Midway. 12lbs and very comfortable is the word on these stands. I'm looking forward to trying it out this fall.

wow, this got hijacked fast thought i'd post some cool pics, not start a bickering fest.

Cam is 2 miles off the road in the park. I had a few does w a fawn going by this cam spot quite regularly all June. A pair of coyotes were passing through quite often too, but mostly at night. As I was going through all the videos, I wondered how the fawns would do with danger lurking. I know it's just nature, but still. (note: the camera was set to record one min videos, so instead of trying to upload them, I just used my cell phone to take a screen shot. )

I was half way optimistic with a new coach and going back to the 3-4 D. But after them trading a few good players and watching the 1st team struggle in pre season with Tyrod going backwards....I will admit it's looking like a long season.

My trail cam pics from last year showed the best day time activity all season was Oct 25th-30th. Cams were miles apart, had some decent mature bucks on the hoof during daylight hours.

They must be close to a foot long! That's a crazy cool buck.

Muzzy 3 blade, 100 gr Hope I get to put one to work this year,.... it's been too long.

Anyone seen this guy lurking around?
genesee_mohican replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
What do you do knowing that big guy is around and this one walks in? Take the shot all day! That's a nice bunch of deer to chose from there. -
The hickory nuts have been falling for weeks and now the acorns are dropping too. It seems early, maybe all the rain we had is pushing things forward a little?

I had a series of trail cam pics over the winter. 1st pic with deer running by, the next few pics with coyotes hunting together. They must test the deer looking for a weak one. I pulled a card from out just a few hundred feet behind my house here and had a daytime picture of a coyote. The rabbits are thick around my house so I'm the yotes come by to pick some off the fringes.

Seeing loads of fawns with does on all trail cams.

It looks like normal deer hair for this time of year, very thin. Nice pines there in your back yard.
-
Makes you wonder how they can get around in the woods with a rack like that! lol Good luck WNY, hope you get some hard bone pics of him and he show's up during the season for you.

There may be more rabid coyotes there for sure. But the DEC 'believes' they got the one that attacked the girl. I believe I'd be armed and cautious wandering around that area.
-
It looks like they located the rabid coyote and took it out: http://www.whec.com/news/ny-officer-shoots-kills-coyote-believed-to-have-attacked-woman/4577891/?cat=565

I think the coyote population will continue to increase ore stay quite stable no matter how long the season is. They are just too good at adapting to what ever is thrown at them. It's sad to hear someone was attacked by a rabid one like this, I hope she recovers quickly.

I bought a pair of "Woody Sport Cool" Muck boots two years ago and really like them. I too was eyeing them up at Tractor supply but then looked on line and found them for around 100 bucks as a I recall. So, I went to tractor supply and tried them on to find my size, then ended up ordering online to save a few. I have worn them during bow season, spring shed hunting and trout fishing. The "Cool" must mean not too much insulation. They don't have the insulation that you might want for cold weather stand hunting but for trekking around in wet conditions they seem comfortable and have held up well.

Early bear season hunting hot spots in southern zone

Here's a harvest map by WMU that may help: http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/bbrpt2016.pdf good luck this fall! -
Wow, what a monster from Pike county! I've had 4 trail cameras stolen in the last 3 years in the park. I guess I didn't wise up fast? The last one was 15 feet up on a tree, door locked and needed a code to use the cam. Now........ I use pyhon locks and door locks on everything. I just picked up a lock box for my new Browing which I will bolt to the tree.... and use a python lock. Most of my cams are a mile or more off the road, some are not but it hasn't seemed to matter. Putting out cameras to get wildlife photos is one of my favorite hobby's that I do year round. Having a few nice cameras stolen has taken a lot of the fun out or it for me. It has angered me no doubt and I've thought about putting a decoy out to try and catch someone at it, but I really don't want to waste my time, plus I'm not sure what it would accomplish. I'll go with the locks, and lock the doors too, plus place the camera up high on a tree and point it down (which limits the amount of area the photo will capture), and see how it works out.

Yeah, there are jealous hunters everywhere it seems. I've had 3 cams stolen in the last 3 years, so I lock them up now and placement comes into play more too. It sucks because I don't usually put the camera in the best location to catch game moving on a trail, when I'm trying to keep the camera out of plain view and above the line of sight. I thought this spot would be good spot to see some mature deer, but it's a real pain to get to and knowing someone else may be hunting there is a downer. It seems like any decent looking place on the river bottom has 10 stands near it.
-
I hope they don't both pop out in a shooting lane at the same time! lol Both are beauties.

A shrew would eat the entire mouse or part of it. This mouse carcass is entirely intact. Definitely the work of flies and insects.
-
Flies and other insects can eat a mouse in a few days, leaving it in place like that. A mammal would take the mouse away from the trap site. I hate mice and have to set traps quite often around my place.

Here are a few photos from a camera I had out last fall. It was in a location that was fairly difficult to access, down in the gorge and a river crossing is needed to get to this spot. I tore my hamstring last December, and high water kept me from getting down there in the spring, but I finally made it down and pulled the cam. After the long sweaty hike in and out I sat down with a cold beer and was pumped to see what video I had on this card...... but was pretty disappointed to see a hunter come by in the last frame. He turned off the camera which was secured with a python lock to the tree. I'm surprised he didn't take the card too. I did purchase a few lock boxes since. I don't touch anyone's stuff in the park, I sure wish they would leave mine alone.
