Last thing I need to do is most likely to jinx my hunts... gather up and organize all the knives, cutting boards, trays, and ziplock bags for processing the deer.

I feel the same way. Ill usually wait on taking does until late in the season. Ill take out a big old doe early if shes alone and its convenient for me to process her. This year I'm changing my approach a bit... my first few archery hunts will be on a "doe only" property (rarely see bucks, and those that are around are usually small), so Ill try to put a doe in the freezer then concentrate on a mature buck at my main spot.

Yea... it’s gonna be warm, but I’ll be covered head to toe to avoid bugs. I’ll be up on an oak ridge overlooking a few apples trees where a field hits that pond. Praying for a West wind to cut down on bugs and push my scent far, far away.

Sept 28th AM for sure. Possibly Sept 27th PM if I drive to the Northern Zone fast enough. As for Southern zone... either Oct 1st and 2nd, depending on the weather.

What are your expectations for the season?

Not an expectation, but more of a goal. I'd like to shoot a deer with a gun this year. The past 11 deer I'v taken have been with bow or crossbow. I think its time to let some lead fly. -
Now that we established my bow is shooting a 342 grain arrow at ~310 FPS... should I be using red or black collars on my rage 2 blade? I used red on my crossbow (330 FPS) and they worked perfectly.

I had always used muzzy 3 blades... last year I tried Rage extreme 4 blades and good lord do those things do damage. I'm not sure how they shoot at long range... but for the shots I take they are devastating. I got montec G5s as a gift for christmas but if @moog5050 doesn't like them... I cant with a clear conscience put one through a deer.

It's almost here! Treestands are up, accuracy is acceptable with the bow, two small late-season foodplots are growing, NY has been paid 97 hard-earned dollars for licenses... now I just need to wait patiently.
