I'm going to guess that people over ate and drank during covid. I certainly did. Damn you, Mr. Negroni. Obviously, working out has huge benefits. Realistically though, the steady state cardio the majority of people do in the gym is pretty useless for any measurable body recomp. I used to cycle tour with no support, so my bike was loaded down with gear and came it at about 85lbs. Eight to ten hours in the saddle, up and down hills ... yeah, I lost weight even though I was probably eating 10,000 kcal per day.

Same. Moderation is very hard for me - if it's open, I'm going to eat it. Weirdly, I can have chips, ice cream, sweets around as long as they're unopened. My psychological makeup prefers extreme approaches, so fasting, intermittent fasting, PSMF or some type of depletion/carb loading approach like "Body Recomposition" work very well. Currently, I'm nine pounds over my fighting weight (thank you, Mexico!) so I just stopped drinking cold turkey last Sunday as a start to shave it off.

No amount of realistic exercise will be more effective for weight loss than putting the fork down. Crash diets can work but transitioning to a maintenance diet is the challenge and there exercise can help.

Quordle in seven.
-
Sorry, crap. Got it in four.
-
Congrats. I have followed a PSMF (Protein Sparing Modified Fast) to great success. Similar to Keto but more strict - basically less than 1000 kcal of protein per day. You get a little grumpy. If anyone is interested, here's a link and explanation of some of the science. https://www.ironmagazine.com/ebooks/The_Rapid_Fat_Loss_Handbook.pdf Long term is the goal, in the sense that the best diet is the one you can stick with the longest and that will depend on your psychological makeup. Good luck.

@crappyice Thought you were being clever and tried "funky" as a first word. Got it in six.
-
Four. I need to stop using words with four vowels as my opening guess. Not helping. Q is nine. I'll take it.
-
No kidding? Is Biden still POTUS? Too bad. A classy dame.

48 hours and still no power. Snow has melted enough that I should be able to get out today. Not sure what I’m going to find out there - a ruined landscape or a brave new world. I hope there are survivors.
-
Just finished The Comfort Crisis so I think I’m supposed to learn from my hunger for the next two days.
-
Snowbound at cabin. No way I can get out of this road. Power out, so no water. Electric heat off. And oven decided to stop working. Sitting in car, charging phone. And loving it.

Lisbon is cool. Enjoy.

Portugal is great. Food, wine and people. Where are you going?

What does a corn fly look like?
-
It was made but not by me. About six feet deep and spring fed, so it stays pretty consistent. Has two very big largemouths and a thousand minnows. And frogs. I've never caught those two fish on a fly - dry, wet or streamer. I've had world-class anglers here who have also failed.
-
Yesterday. Thick and heavy, and cold enough to stick around for a few days. I was in shorts that day before.
-
My wife went back to Mexico to look at property while I'm at the cabin in the snow writing about Mexico. Doesn't seem quite fair.

Just picked this up - As near as I can tell the contention is "make things a little more difficult for yourself, don't die," as told within the framework of a caribou hunt with Donnie Vincent.

Think and Clamp? Are those the words you use or your approach? I need more think and less clamp. NYT in four, though it should have been two.
-
Same. I waste a lot of letters on one word that I know aren't in the other three. Need a more zen-like approach.
-
How do you guys approach quordle? Stick to and try and solve one quadrant at a time or jump around?
-
NYT in three, but could have easily been two. Quordle in nine.
