And you feel compelled to respond. I’m sorry take up so much of your waking thought. I hope I’m not in your dreams as well. Really. -
Good one.

Canadians are basically Mexicans with sweaters. Amirite? -
They were fantastic and provided a great contrast. Tonight, however, was a hell of a thing.

I talked about that with a few guys and guides. Consensus … why would I leave paradise?

Asked and answered. Putz. -
So I fired a guide on the water today. Took a chance and headed up to a little known tarpon area and found the only recommended guide in the town. 6:00 am start, so I shot up last night and took a small room in a beach hotel. $35 with AC. But the AC didn't work so it was a sweaty night. $35 doesn't go as far as it once did. I met the guide and his partner at the dock and we set off for the mangroves. At first I was a little surprised with the boat as it didn't have a bow casting platform. Instead I had to use a beat up piece of plywood in the belly of the boat. That immediately put me at a height disadvantage and the line kept catching on the plywood. Oh well. We hit the mangroves and I quickly realized that these guys didn't know how to find tarpon as we all we did was drive in an out of the mangroves. After two hours, I had only cast maybe 20 times and they were all blind casts into muddy water. They finally decided to try an open water spot and they set up into the wind so my cast was pretty much screwed. This was deep water and with only a floating line on, there was no way I could get down. I was switching to my heaviest fly when I noticed that both guys had now grabbed spinning rods and were casting at the bow and stern. I reeled in and watched them for a minute. Neither asked me if I was okay and I finally asked the guide to if he always fished when someone was paying him to find fish. "All the time," was his response. "In that case, take me back to the dock and you guys can carry on fishing." They reeled in, drove the 20 minutes back to the dock. I explained I had never seen that before and explained that a sure fired way to piss off a client is to catch a fish on his time. I gave them half the agreed upon rate. He knew I was writing an article and asked if I needed any more details. I looked at him and said, "You really don't want me writing about this." So it goes. Am now recovering the best way I can.

Wow. You go fishing for one morning, fire your guide in the middle of the ocean, come back to the dock a little pissed that you wasted a day, drive for three hours to get back to town and log in to find all hell done broke loose. To answer North above, hardly contempt. But at this point I find it more interesting to just make fun of his incessant reposting of internet shit. Maybe that's my cruel streak. If he would spend time what he thought as opposed to others, the conversations might be more valuable. If he also stopped insulting anyone who disagrees with those who feed him his ideas, he may find more respect. I still don't get this reaction. I was very sincere about the offer for a beer. More than happy to do that. I'm just thrilled you didn't cut off your hand! Yep. Everyone walked away unscathed. Except for that guy lurking in the parking lot. Don't really write about hunting as I mostly suck at it. Do spend some time on fishing and general outdoorsy stuff. Also write for luxury beauty brands. And ... wait for it ... occasionally model. Silver fox and all that. Me in the 125th issue of F&S. And my sexy hands. Gentleman Farmer campaign. It's an old joke. Same cadence of writing. Same topics. Rattler took his ball and went home and Grouse showed up a short time later. My life would be a lot easier if I had an agenda. Al, you need to check out more posts. I came out against abortion, pro shooting looters, and smaller government. I also don't much care who you marry as long as it's not a kid or an animal. And don't care which bathroom you use or how you want to refer to yourself. I try not to get triggered about stupid shit. I was deep in the mangroves and we slid across a pool of these. Couldn't get them to take a thing. This is a typical grouse post. Wild accusation (stolen election!) that he nor anyone else can prove followed by the assertion that anyone who disagrees with said lie is an ignorant slave. I appreciate the line about brainwashing. Self awareness is the first step to recovery, grouse. I have posted pheasants, but no deer as I generally suck at that. I would have a better cast. Or human if sincere. We all make mistakes. Except for grouse, of course. But he has another burden to live with.

Haven't lived there in 30 years and when I go back I think that everyone has a funny accent. Not sure where I pontificated as an "all-knowing expert on American politics" other than to say that I roll with the political punches (the ups and downs) and Trump is a poopy head. -
Shot my mouth off? I invited the guy to my camp for a beer. I’m sitting in a $35 a night room with lousy AC in a tiny Mexican fishing village just to meet a guy I want to fish with at 5:30 am and while I might be a little delirious from the heat, I’m pretty sure I didn’t sound like a small-minded bigot. What did you read into that?
-
Well, that just kind of hurt. I’m actually on a working vacation, though last night’s mezcal drunken karaoke at the dyke bar may have been more fun than work. But, I t’s a reasonable point, Al. Why hasn’t anyone seen VH and me in the same room? For that matter, why hadn’t anyone seen Rattler and me in the same room? Think about that for a while. Who’s playing whom? Anyway, how about a summit? Rattler is in Delaware county as am I. Happy to host him at my camp for a beer or drink of his choice. We can talk about hunting, fishing, politics, whatever he likes and whereever the conversation takes us.

They are talking about it. Unfortunately, it may not be the type of coverage that makes your thighs sweaty. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/14/us/politics/durham-sussmann-trump-russia.html https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/tech-exec-used-access-white-house-computers-look-dirt-trump-says-speci-rcna16123 https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/special-counsel-democratic-lawyer-clash-allegations-data-purported/story?id=82902283 https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/durham-court-filing-doesn-t-say-hillary-clinton-spied-trump-n1289097
