We have proposed similar thoughts about specific watersheds in Region 3&4. Personally, I would: classifying entire watersheds versus reaches of rivers initiating a Trout Stamp with funds allocated to rehabilitation C&R of all Brook Trout, the state fish since '75, until the number rebound C&R of all wild fish on anything less than a Wild Premier river I would also advocate ceasing all trout stocking except for locked ponds and lakes, but I doubt that would meet with many fans. The gold standard for this is Montana who stopped stocking rivers in the '70s and saw a huge increase in wild fish populations. Different environments, but still. Last night I listened to a geneticist talk about Brook Trout and he said that their research has shown that stocked fish contribute little to nothing to the genetic pool of wild fish. All they seem to do is compete with wild fish for resources.

Today is the last day for comments. The plan seems more skewed to making fishing easier than protecting or promoting wild fish. From the CFFM today: Make Your Voice Heard Today Management decisions weigh heavily on the character of our Catskills fisheries. The New York State DEC has published a Draft Inland Trout Stream Management Plan with a public comment period ending today, June 25th. If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the plan (link below). The plan classifies all streams as one of multiple subcategories of either “wild” or “stocked”; categories that will dictate management approaches for each. Another significant change proposed in this plan would augment every trout stream’s season with a winter catch and release season, allowing every stream in the state to be fished year-round. The off season has traditionally been designed to protect the active spawning habitat that facilitates wild reproduction; many anglers are concerned that this year-round traffic could negatively impact wild fisheries. Take a look to see if your favorite trout stream is designated to your liking, and if you’ve got feelings about the prospects and potential consequences of year-round trout fishing, do let the DEC know what you think. They are actively asking for input, and they very much consider us their constituency. Your input is meaningful. You can email your thoughts to [email protected] or click the link below to read more:

I don't think it meant to illustrate who or what kills more people as much as a representation of just how infectious CV is and how quickly it's moving through the world. -

I’m not making an argument. I’m pointing out how many Americans you think are worth sacrificing to Mammon. The 1% are are only as safe as the actions of the 99% allow them to be. We are now seeing positive cases spiking throughout the country due to the irresponsible and selfish actions of a few. The 1% cannot protect themselves against an onslaught of ignorance. Personally, I have lost a lot of income and who knows how much on the value of my NY apt. Oh well, I’d rather live a pauper than die a rich man. -

I was curious as to what your number was. That is, how many American lives you would think is a fair sacrifice for the maintaining a good economy. I guess it’s 1% of 350M or 3,500,000. Mostly older people. Hey, you had a good run, gramps. Thanks for coming. -
The DEC is proposing reclassifying trout streams, changing harvest limits, extending stocking and opening up trout fishing year round. There are some drastic changes in this proposal and unfortunately nothing that addresses stream rehabilitation or declining wild trout populations. They are asking for feedback and NY TU as well as NYC TU are drafting a response. Read proposal here: http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/dfmptroutstream.pdf

I have no issue with his protest. I do think he’s a liar and needs to be called out on his bullshit, especially if he threatened to hurt people as he admitted doing. A petition was started to review his behaviour in class. Apparently, he’s a delicate snowflake with a huge ice chip on his shoulder (plus a persecution complex) and lectures on how no one has it harder than the straight white male. Based on his comments and behaviour in that article I wouldn’t want him lecturing my kids. Not because I don’t believe in contrary views, but because he seems like an idiot. If I met someone at a party who said: “Only stupid people are racist.” “My title is ‘doctor.’ I’m not stupid.” I’d politely excuse myself and go stand on the other side of the room. There’s no mention of CSS being called in that article. Do you have evidence of that or are you just making it up like everything else in this thread? Every thing this guy said happened was denied by the Chief of Police. Why do you ignore that? Or do you think this cop is lying? She was talking about coyotes over the past decade. And as it was shown in multiple studies, hunters have little effect on coyote population your efforts this year were negligible. The conclusion therefore is that coyotes just aren’t a problem in Delaware. You may want to go back and delete some posts.

Maybe. But then again, maybe you’re just full of it. Per that article, everything he claims is refuted by the police Cormier: “They called the police on me!” Police: “No one called us.” Cormier: “I was attacked!” Police: “No proof of that.” Cormier: “You could feel the seething hatred — they wanted to attack and to kill me. You could tell.” Police: “There wasn’t very much animosity that I saw,” Cormier: “I couldn’t escape. The police had to extricate us. I left because I didn’t want to be victimized.” “The police were completely unprepared for this. The cops pulled us out but were not able to accompany us down the street.” Police: “I don’t think we extricated him. “He left on his own.” The three pictures of him and his daughter I’ve seen show her with head down and arms crossed. She is clearly uncomfortable. This guy is an idiot for bringing his daughter to a demonstration where he tried to instigate a reaction from the peaceful protestors (he upped the game when he threatened to hit them) which could have put her in harm’s way. Father of the year. So the story seems to be that a peaceful protest happened with people all wearing masks and more or less practicing social distancing when an idiot instigator (professional?) showed up to cause shit and then when he didn’t get the reaction he wanted, made up a bunch of nonsense that was refuted in totality by the Chief of Police who was in attendance. Oh, and neither he nor his daughter wore a mask. Again, I don’t think this article is helping your point whatever it is. On another fun note, I spent the afternoon with an Andes (your area) sheep farmer who is running 125 ewes with lambs across their fields. I asked how many they lose to coyotes per year and they says none. They see a coyote once in a while but the coyotes seem to be freaked out by the sheep and quickly head back into the woods.

I'm confused. Are you posting this to show what a lying, idiotic and fragile little snowflake Cormier is? Or to show his questionable parenting skills for dragging his clearly doesn't-want-to-be-there pre teen daughter into his counter protest? Are you Cormier? Everything he says was denied by the cops there. Or are they "in on it" too?

Like Sam McGee, l hate the cold. There are strange things done in the midnight sun By the men who moil for gold; The Arctic trails have their secret tales That would make your blood run cold; The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, But the queerest they ever did see Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge I cremated Sam McGee. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/45081/the-cremation-of-sam-mcgee

The only thing I would say is that it is much better to have a plan going in than shoot a bunch of footage and try and find a storyline afterward, especially with a single camera and shooter. Speak from experience. “Banged up overseas” as in military service? If so, that’s a good hook ... a veteran’s last shot at a Big Woods’ whitetail. If it’s “banged up” because you slipped in spilled beer on the floor of a girlie bar in Bangkok ... maybe not.
-
What is the end goal? Festival? Pitch for a bigger project? Personal use? I think for the former, there’s a larger and more unique storyline than just the hunt. Two things come to mind. You suggested you have a physical limitation. If it is something that would normally prohibit you from hunting but you muscle through it, that is an interesting angle and could find a receptive audience. Think “Doc of the Drakes”. The other would be following the journey of yourself and this young women as she goes on her first hunt. I would get her a license and a rifle and video each other. You may find that being an active mentor brings knowledge out that wouldn’t necessarily come from capturing a normal hunt. TV is my business, so feel free to reach out if you want to bounce an idea around.

Well, as probably one of the few people here who has lived in multiple countries all over the world including a muslim country, I'm down with ethnic diversity. But if possible, I would love to live in a country with insanely hot women who believe in fairies and trolls and have a very casual idea about sex; has an abundance of clean air, water and energy; no end of natural resources for the hunting and fishing sportsman; has a social structure while being one of the world's oldest parliamentary democracies; actually has a political party called the "Pirate Party"; aurora borealis; the world's best hotdogs; halfway between NA and Europe; no mosquitos; no McDonalds; and did I mention babes?

The crazy thing is that they replace the gun with something that would probably get you fined up the wazoo by Fish and Game. “What are you doing with the scythe, Sir?” ”Rabbit hunting.” ”Why don’t you have seat right here.” So, looking for more information I came across this: Is this a thing?
