  1. I finally got my phone to cooperate with posting pictures. Here is my friends and mine opening day success. We both took does in the morning about 30 min apart then he took the nice 7 point around 3pm. It was a memorable day. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  2. Let's see if the last 2.5 hours are productive or not. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  3. I didn't think I'd need this today but I'm glad I brought it along. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  4. Today seems like a good day for a nap in the woods. 38 degrees and finally no rain. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  5. Way to stick with him and get the job done. You sir have done your good deed for the season! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  6. Such a hard decision. I have never had this happen to me. I have come upon severly wounded deer and ended their misery but I've always had the tag for them. I like to think that even though we are hunters and kill animals for food we are also animal lovers and would do the right thing for that animal. I remember one year seeing a buck so severely wounded he had guts hanging out of his wound and looked green. Even though I knew his meet would be of no good use I did not hesitate to pull the trigger and use my tag. I felt so bad for him. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  7. Adkhunter... Such a creepy place and yet so cool. I triple dog dare you to go explore that big bolted room! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  8. Live from the recliner. I'm home with the kids while my wife shops with her mom and sister's. I'm kinda glad because if she wasn't I would be hunting in the rain again. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  9. A fair amount of shooting this morning. Mostly from one area so either a lot are down or one is Swiss cheese. Still raining Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  10. Happy thanksgiving everyone. 32 degrees with light rain now and predicted all day in 8g but zero wind. Good luck! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  11. I've never done it to a trophy buck as I've never got one but I've buried the head in the ground in December then dug it up in the fall and it's nice and clean of flesh. Just clean the dirt of and bleach it. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  12. I will be out it's my tradition. Hunt till 11 then joint the family for a nice dinner and evening. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  13. Go for it, you have meat in the freezer already and hunting is about doing something you enjoy anyways.
  14. I would say right up on the property line is fine as long as its not pointing into the neighbors property and you have a good relationship with them.
  15. For me yes that was my dogs first one ever and she hunts pheasants with me so shes not just a dog that stays home all the time. We really don't seem to have many where I live and hunt. I can only remember one other time having one crawl on me while hunting and a friend picked one up while golfing once. With never really experiencing them before a made a quick phone call to the vet once they open just to see what they said and like I said they weren't concerned as it happens all the time.
  16. I found one like that on my dog once. I was petting her when I found a strange bump that wasn't there just the other day. I started seperating hairs to find it and it was a tick that looked like that exact picture! Yuck! Called the vet and they weren't concerned so neither was I. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  17. Great buck! I think in this picture you where trying to match the look on his face and I must say you succeeded!
  18. That story is one of the many reasons why I love hunting. You just never know what your going to see out in the woods.
  19. Congratulations! That's pretty cool. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  20. A lot of my slugs have dents all around them from being loaded and unloaded all the time. It has never seemed to be an issue. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  21. I called it at 11:30am. To much wind and sideways snow. The weather had it continuing for the rest of the day so I came home to get some stuff done and hang out with the family. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  22. Congrats NTP19! you will always remember your first! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  23. I carry way to many and I know it but don't care. My Orange vest I wear holds 20 so that's what I start with. 5 for the gun and 15 extra. I average 1.5 rounds per deer due to sometimes needing a finishing shot. But you never know where the day will take you and I would never forgive myself if I ran out of bullets during a hunt.
