  1. As I pulled out of my driveway this morning to take one of the kids to school a little buck went tearing across the road from my neighbors back yard where they cross a lot in the dark.
  2. I usually feel that way when I realize I don't have my release on yet
  3. The action seems to have slowed. I have two cell cams set up on my property and last night I didn't get one pic. Last week I was getting all kinds of pics. Hopefully things pick back up again.
  4. Hunting with a buddy at his new place. So far three big toms. I hope one of us see some deer.
  5. In my spot listening to what sounds like a fox fighting a coon. Never heard these sounds together.
  6. From the blind. He's already ate most of his snacks so mine will probably become his!
  7. Just got in for my first hunt of the year. My 5 yr old wanted to go so we are in a ground blind that I'm not even sure I can shoot a bow from. Oh well he's having fun. Tomorrow morning I'm hitting a good stand.
  8. If I know there's a problem there is no way I'm not having the guy arrested if it's me.
  9. I saw two young bucks this morning trotting all willy nilly across my fields this morning then a buck standing with a bedding doe out in an open hay field from the road. Things are moving in the right direction in my area. I'm hoping to get in my first hunt of the season Saturday, if not then Sunday. Can't wait!
  10. Live from the barn. Saw a Whopper of a buck out under an apple tree this morning that is typically tore up with scrapes. He was a beauty, probably 150" ten pointer standing there all by himself. I'm glad I had my binoculars in the truck to get a really good look at him. I'll have his image stuck in my head all day!
  11. Last year I switched back to my trusty old 870 with a 1.5x5 on it. I've killed a lot of deer with that gun over the last 20+ years
  12. Live from the ride home. Just had a decent eight or ten pointer trot across the road in front of me on the way home from work.
  13. That's quite a ways from me, not to say it couldn't be the same critter
  14. My five year old and I went out to pull camera cards about an hour ago. He told me he was hoping we would get a bear or a moose on the camera. I told him there was no way that would happen. Well I'll have to stop telling him that because I sure didn't think I'd get a freaking elk or whatever it is on the camera either! I am in north central Wayne county and I'm pretty sure there aren't and game farms around so I have no idea where this thing came from.
  15. Definitely acorns. One is starting to sprout so it's definitely a white oak of some sort as red sprout in the spring. I had one variety or white oak acorn on my old Steuben county Hill top land that the deer wouldn't touch as well. I believe it was Chestnut oak which is in the white oak family. I bet that's what you have going on.
  16. Cut it off just below where it broke, hopefully it will shoot out a new branch there next spring. Also thin a whole bunch of peaches off the tree so it's not so overloaded. Next year thin it hard early.
  17. Also that price probably doesn't include the mineral rights I would guess. That area has a lot of older gas wells around.
  18. I'll quote my 10 year old son here.... "Dang it!"
  19. Been watering for two weeks now. Ready for some rain anytime now!
  20. On my property I had a worst case scenario with a wheat planting. The farmer harvested the wheat then did nothing..... for two and a half more years! Last year I finally closed on this adjoining property and went to the farmer and asked what his plan was. He wasn't sure if they would get to it or not. I told him don't bother and found a guy to work it that is pretty progressive with his field crops. He does all strip tilling and put in soybeans this year. Hopefully there will be some deer action out in the field this year.
