  1. I used to hunt the PA late flintlock season and it was pretty fun. I don't know much about this gun. I had a TC firestorm hat was designed to shoot pyrodex pellets and sabots. Good luck!
  2. I went out looking yesterday after work for some sheds and ended up jumping a little buck that still had both sides.
  3. I went out for the first time night hunting coyotes with a buddy this winter. I was super cautious about just seeing eye reflection. I had a deer come out of the bush's that I figured for sure was a coyote coming into the calling but I just waited because I couldn't ID it for sure until about five minutes later when it got to the field. Boy was I glad I knew better than to shoot at the reflection!
  4. Most in my area are as well. I bet that will change shorty though.
  5. I didn't stop them. It was almost dark and they were exhausted. They were not even the guys that originally started the track job, another group of guys originally hit the buck. I told them I was going out hunting in the morning ( as was my plan before I even talked to them). Me and my two buddies looked in the morning. There were no hard feelings. They had tracked it across my buddies land a little bit before they got to mine. He gave me the heads up that there was a crew headed my way so I went out to the road to see what the story was. Unfortunately it rained over night. My buddy walked by where I found the carcass maybe 50 yards or so away. I found it in a dogwood thicket.
  6. I'm not sure what weapons were used but I did see a bullet wound near the right rear hoof, any chance of seeing a body hit are probably gone. I will check the jaw to get an age estimate but I'm guessing it was either a 2.5 or 3.5. Lots of ag around here gets em big in a hurry. I wish we had come across it when we went out looking the next morning.
  7. I mean some guys tracked it up till it crossed the road into my property after about a two mile track job. It was then getting dark and they were whooped after six hours of tracking. I told them I would take a look for it the next morning. Of course it rained over night so there really wasn't any blood to track it on.
  8. I got some pics this week of a buck that moved out during the first week of December. My friend had been getting quite a few pictures of him about a mile away since he left my place but it appears he's back on my place for a bit now.
  9. I took my boys (8 and 4) out for a walk in the woods today and found a buck that was tracked up to my property late Thanksgiving day. Me and my hunting partners looked for it the next morning. We started looking just a little too far to the north of where we should have.
  10. Thanks for the update. I've had a covert that sends to my phone for two seasons now and I love it. I'll be looking to add another cell cam before the next season starts.
  11. Combine being pulled out of muck
  12. This is muck. Flood took out the bare area's.
  13. Your looking at not so good conditions for food plots unless your planning on cleaning out your ditches and running the pumps that kept the tile lines running. The reason those are there are to keep the fields dry while the crops were on. Once the crops where off they were probably shut off and the field was wet again. There is the possibility there is an area that is a little higher and stays a little drier, but you probably wouldn't know where that is unless you had been growing crops there. Good luck!
  14. A friend of mine that does a good amount of predator hunting told me 9pm-12 is the best with a new moon. He said full moon is the worst. He took me out during the last week of December and we called in two fox but couldn't seal the deal
  15. I don't have the pics but my buddy across the road from my place is getting pics of two really nice bucks that seem to hang together a lot. They mostly hang on his place except during the rut when they each spent a lot of time on my place, I hold the does all season. They moved back to his place after the first week of December and are back to hanging out together. They will both be true whoppers next year as long as they survive
  16. Hunting with my buddy across the road from my house. Two of the shooters that were using my woods during hunting season have moved back to their pre rut range in his woods.
  17. I walked by a big bedded doe on the way in. She was probably 10 feet of the trail just watching me walk by .Lucky for her I'm looking for horns today
  18. I always wear my hunting pants over the top of my muck boots if I plan on getting into the multi flora rose bushes and prickers, which are just about everywhere unless I'm on my mowed trails or in a food plot! I'm still working on what to get for a new pair of bibs that will hold up to the thorns and shed the stick tights and burdocks. I never had these problems hunting the hardwoods of the southern tier but back up here in the overgrown fields and swamp edges of Wayne county it is a constant struggle.
  19. I missed a doe at 50 yards during the first week of gun season. I couldn't believe it but there was snow and I looked good and long. Later that day I redeemed my self with a different doe from the same stand. Every one misses sometime!
  20. It looks similar to markings I saw before a seismograph test in Steuben county about ten years ago. They bored holes in the ground and set off charges after setting sensors all over the place
  21. Did a couple of little drives with some buddies. We only moved one deer which was a small half rack buck that got a free pass.
  22. Didn't make it to my stand this morning, my wife was looking for a little extra shuteye without my two little monsters bothering her. So now I am getting ready to do a little pushing with a couple buddies before too long for the first time this year. We never push out our best spots so we don't usually see any bucks but we usually see a couple does and fawns.
  23. Lots of small game activity for me this morning. So far lots of squirrels, 11 turkeys and two rabbits. Now I just need some deer to show up!
