In the Adks hunters really have very little impact in numbers theres been years were unless the deer were getting fed 100%fawn winter kill and the older bucks take hard hits too when you know areas wher the deer winter and come spring after a hard winter that last longer then normal many of those deer will be dead, Adk big woods hunting is nothing like southertier hunting . Again i wouldnt be overly upset about 1 buck a year, but leave seasons alone, my land is only 90 acres about 400yards from state land no ag in the area a few hay fields but i would say since 2016 5 deer 3 1/2 or better have been taken of mine and the surrounding pressure helps put the deer on my property during daylight....

Ive also heard from people that the blaze orange law is stupid, but seems to me no matter where you hunt during gun its a common sense to wear it ,,, i wore it prior and deer dont even see orange

Thanks for info..... good post....I was going to try and point out some the points in the DEC mgt plan but when people just dismiss the numbers and studies that have been done by trained persons whats the point, also glad to hear from some who has hunted other states and says NY are not those states nor should new york be managed like other states.

You said your done one post again glad your back lol . how do you know what I know mind reader? for the last 6yrs Ive done lots of habitat work hinge cuts, planted some 600 trees food plots etc to benefit deer and yes my hunting oppurtunties. I never said you needed or wanted a longer archery season, are you reading what i type? but you do want to shorten some seasons "gun" and do away with others "crosbow" this effects other people and im not willing to try or support taking away from others oppurtuneties that are out there doing it legally and having fun.... The sky is not falling under the current regs....

Ok so no research. you dont believe the people that do the research. crossbows only took 11,000 deer last yr...Theres states that have delt with EHD for 50yrs, Just admit this one thing your goal is bigger bucks and less gun hunting so you have better hunting....again im a bow hunter, cross bow hunter gun hunter and loader, I dont dislike any type of hunter or stly as long as legal, I do dislike some one trying to impede another hunters enjoyment of the woods and current hunting seasons

According to NY DEC and well statics say 1.2mil deer in NY , no i didnt do of my own research , well i guess that is true about numbers but I cant see why there would be a huge crash of deer numbers under current regs ,,,, Now same question back at u why are the numbers and health not sustainable as they are now with out QDM and rule chnges ?

Look we all like shooting big bucks when we can but in no way will i tell the two 74yr old guys in my camp what to shoot neither are in the greatest shape due to age but they keep at it and they are happy with any buck just like I wont tell the guy that has just shot two deer his entire life not too shoot a small buck, just like the year i waited to the last day off loader and dropped a button because i passed deer all year ....and I agree theres room for improvement and it seems that slowly it is improving,,, but on the other hand i do not want to be told by another hunter or group of hunters this is what I have to do because thats what they want, now with that being said if laws changed i would follow them just wouldn't be supportive of them...

actually last few years less and less 1 1/2 bucks are taken in fact per DEC NY hunters take about the same or less 1 1/2 bucks as pennselyvania hunters. in fact 61.7% of bucks taken last year were 2.5 or older

I dont care about a longer season do like the idea of the new late season with muzzel yes but i wont get out for it, but it is good chance for guys to get out young kids that got school etc.....lol u care about deer you care about big bucks and tagging one , again just looked it up per NYS DEC 1.2 million deer in NY the deer are not hurting....

Perfectly stated you dont care,,,,, what if i said shorten bow season close it nov 1st till the 3rd saturday in november then gun opens i dont care, dont hunt the rut with bow let the big bucks run wild chasing doe with out being hunted, that would really lets some big ones live till next year,,, i would never say that but you "dont care"... are u not wanting the season changed to appease what you want....????

ok yup 100% would be happier with a big buck me included...however a restructure would greatly limit many peoples time hunt more so the gun hunters.... I know many guys that can get out just a few times so limit there gune season to 10 or 12 days and we will loose hunters, and to be honest in over 30 yrs of hunting ive come to appreciate the days in the field be it big buck stories or small buck stories or just sitting at camp,,, and yes the big ones maybe some of the best stories , but it is not what drives me, also never said people or i dont care about antlers,,, but its not my driving factor....get out enjoy the woods take a deep breath leave work and the BS behind thats what drives me and yes if two bucks come out the bigger one gets shot...and no i will not want to reduce gun season or put AR's into place.. i like the way things are now overall

Favor yes and is it great when i score on the big one yup, but in no way do i need them for a good satisfying hunt in fact the 2yr old 6 pt i got with x bow was a way more thrilling hunt, this yr,,,, and nor will i try to tell another hunter to change his ways if they are legal...

ok so 153 dosen't like cross bows period I specifcally asked him why there more effective the modern cross bow , i stated both have benefits no answer ... thinks his wanting bigger bucks, he says its all about mgt well NY has 1.2 million deer not bad mgt, is what all hunters want and he thinks NY can be equal to high ag and better growth rates better soil etc as the mid west...NY is not ohio kansas illionios missouri etc.... deer out there that are aged at 2 and 3 that break 120in the avg 3 yr old buck in NY is 103in per DEC... so lets shorten gun season that the vast majority of hunters take part in and enjoy ...and as we all are hunters i feel that if a deer is taken legal and that what the hunter wanted congrats....and the more oppurtunties to get in the woods the better....so if u want to shoot a spike do it if u dont then dont... and if you dont want to and dont like how it is new york go else where and enjoy your hunt there.....

Hard to beat brassicas if your in an area that deer like them not hard say up till Nov1st with oats/ rye but late season those bulbs really shine ive had deer dig threw feet of snow to get to them they do love WI oats but my are normally down to nothing by nov still green but look as short as a putting green and never had much attraction when 6 or 8in of snow get on them

i just looked at 2020 harvest report xbow hunters had just over 11,000 reported deer taken compund over 68,0000.... just saying xbow is a drop in the bucket in the big picture... just like when youth season came out some bowhunters where saying that this would just ruin the rest of the season for bow.....and im not even arguing for full xbow season leave it as is but to say it has no place at all prior to gun well i just dont see the harm as far as hurting mgt we are talking just over a 11,000 deer taken in 2020, thats 192 deer per county in new york hell cars kill way more then that as far as AR some areas i would be good with them but not in the ADK thats hard enough hunting and winters are what control deer up there hunting has little to no effect
